Every year people do a lot of shopping on the occasion of Diwali. Due to GST reform, it was already expected that there would be a huge increase in orders this year. In such a situation, the Diwali festive season was great for India’s e-commerce sector. In volume terms, sales grew by 24 per cent year-on-year, while gross merchandise value (GMV) grew by 23 per cent. This information was given by the e-commerce platform Unicommerce.

The magic of quick commerce

According to the company, the biggest contributor to this growth was from Quick Commerce apps, whose order volume registered an increase of 120 percent on an annual basis. After this, brand websites achieved a growth of 33 percent. At the same time, marketplace platforms remained the dominant channel, accounting for 38 percent of total purchases and growing by eight percent in terms of order volume.

24 percent jump in e-commerce also

Unicommerce said that these figures are based on more than 15 crore transactions done through its flagship platform Uniware during the 25-day long festive season in 2024 and 2025. The company said, “The Diwali festive season of 2025 was extremely successful for India’s e-commerce sector, where order volume grew by 24 percent and gross merchandise value grew by 23 percent.”

The top performing categories included fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), home decor & furniture, beauty & care products, and health & pharma. According to Unicommerce, the contribution of second and third tier cities in the total orders was about 55 percent.

E-commerce dark pattern: The government has started investigating the extra charge of e-commerce companies on cash-on-delivery (COD) orders. It was announced by Union Consumer Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi on Friday. In a post on X, he said that the Ministry of Consumer Affairs has received complaints that e-commerce platforms are charging hidden or missleeding charges under separate categories such as offer handling fees, payment handling fees and Protect Promise fees, etc. Customers say that they do not even know about these charges and they are often detected at the time of checkout.

The department of consumer affairs have received complaints against e-commerce platforms charging extra for cash-or-delivery, a practice classified as a dark pattern that faces and examplo Consures.

A detailed Investigation has been initiated and steps are being taken to… https://t.co/gef5wclxjx

Dark pattern dominated on e-commerce platforms

In his post, he said, the Department of Consumer Affairs has received complaints of charging additional fees for cash-on-delivery by e-commerce platforms. It is known as dark patterns, which misleads and exploits consumers. A detailed investigation has been started on this. Steps are being taken to closely investigate these platforms. Strict action will be taken against those who violate consumer rights to ensure transparency in the growing e-commerce sector in India and maintain fair behavior.

What is a dark pattern?

Dark patterns are a method designed to trick customers on online sites or pressurize them. Through this, efforts are made to deliberately mislead the consumer. The price hidden in the dark pattern is seen at the time of checkout. This is a strategy in which a separate item is added quietly to the cart while shopping online. Many times the acceptance button is shown in bright color and the rejection option is either hidden or reduced. It is forced to take subscription through cookies. Apart from this, customers are also taken into a trap through options like ‘only one item left’ or ‘Limited-Time Offers’, which finally benefits the company.

Shipments of smartphones have increased by seven percent on the year-by-year basis in the second quarter of this year in the country. The launch of many new smartphones has increased the pace of sales. China’s smartphone maker Vivo has secured first place with 21 percent market share. South Korea’s Samsung ranks second.

Market Research firm Canalys Report According to, the shipments of smartphones have been about 3.9 million units in the second quarter. This is a seven percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year. Vivo ranks first in this market with shipments of about 81 lakh units. After this, Samsung has finished second with shipments of about 62 lakh units. Samsung’s market share is 16 percent. China’s Oppo ranks third with about 5 million units of shipments. After this, Xiaomi has also finished fourth with shipments of about 5 million units. The market share of these two companies is 13 percent.

Another Chinese smartphone company Realme is ranked fifth with shipments of about 36 lakh units. Realme’s market share was about nine percent in the second quarter. This report states that Vivo has received strong demand in Tier 1 and 2 cities for the V50 series. Apart from this, the company’s Y series is getting good response in small towns and semi-urban areas.

Sales have increased through offline retail stores of Oppo’s smartphones. The company has a large number of sales of smartphones of the A5 series. The Oppo K13 series has strong sales on e-commerce sites. Samsung has especially ease the sales with Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56. The company has increased shopping facility for customers by offering EMI options. Earlier this month, Samsung has also launched a new series of foldable smartphones. The company has the highest stake in this segment. However, Canalys estimates that there may be some decline in the market of smartphones throughout this year due to challenges regarding demand.

American e-commerce and technology company Amazon has trimmed hundreds of workers in its cloud computing division. However, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has not been informed about the correct number of jobs. Earlier, a large number of workers were removed in Amazon.

A one of reates Report It has been told that this trimming has affected many teams in AWS. In this regard, Amazon spokesperson said, “AWS has a difficult decision related to business to abolish certain rolls. Such decisions are necessary as the resources are being used more along with investments to deliver innovation to our customers.” Many workers who came under the purview of this retrench said that they were informed via email that their positions had been abolished.

This has affected many teams in AWS. One of these teams is called ‘Specialists’. This team works with customers to develop the new product idea and support AWS’s existing services sales. Recently, Amazon had reduced the staff in business related to his books. Amazon’s CEO, Andy Jassy’s Strategy Company has to speed up the process of making decisions and make functioning more efficient. Amazon has targeted to increase the ratio of individual contributors and managers by 15 percent, so that bureaucracy can be reduced.
Recently in India, Amazon has entered the new business segment like Quick-Commerce. The company has started the new division Amazon Now for this. This service of Amazon can give a tough fight to Zomato’s Blinkit, Swiggy’s Instamart and Zepto in this segment. These three companies have a large stake in the market of Quick-commerce. These companies offer delivery in less than 15 minutes ranging from grocery to smartphones like gadgets. The general delivery service of Amazon, which holds a large stake in the e-commerce market, is delivered in the same day or a few days of the products.
<!--

Amazon, one of the big e-commerce companies, has also entered the Quick-commerce segment. Amazon has started the new division Amazon Now for this. For the past few months, the company was trialing this service in the selected area of Bengaluru. Quick-commerce segment has increased rapidly in the last few years in the country.

This service of Amazon can give a tough fight to Zomato’s Blinkit, Swiggy’s Instamart and Zepto in this segment. These three companies have a large stake in the market of Quick-commerce. These companies offer delivery in less than 15 minutes ranging from grocery to gadgets. The general delivery service of Amazon, which holds a large stake in the e-commerce market, is delivered in the same day or a few days of the products. The company will have to create a strong structure of logistics in the quick-commerce concentration.

The company has said that after the launch of this service in June in June, it is being expanded in the capital Delhi. Initially it will deliver in 10 minutes of grocery, snacks, personal care products and fruits and vegetables in 10 minutes in 10 minutes. Amazon plans to launch 300 dark stores by the end of this year in Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru and Mumbai. The annual sales of Quick Commerce Market are estimated to be around six billion dollars. According to the market research firm Datum Intelligence, the Blinking stake in this segment is about 40 percent.

This service has been launched by Amazon in West Delhi. The company plans to introduce it to other areas soon. Amazon has enhanced a lot of investment in India to increase business in India in the last few years. Recently, the company opened five new fullfillment centers for early delivery of products in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. Quick-commerce related companies were also accused. The All India Consumer Products Distributors Federation (AICPDF) had written to the Competition Commission of India (CCI) said that Quick these companies are trying to pull the customers by giving low pricing or heavy discounts. The letter also requested CCI to implement measures to protect the interests of general distributors and retailers.

Pichai said, “I hope our existing engineering base will be extended by next year.” This attitude of Pichai is different from other companies that look at AI as a means of reducing the cost.

American technology and e-commerce company Amazon, software company Microsoft and META, which operates social media platform Facebook, have trimmed thousands of workers in the last few months. These companies are increasing their investment in AI. This has increased the possibility of AI replacing Human workers in the tech industry. Pichai said that AI has increased the production of engineers. Some tasks are being done with the help of AI and engineers can be engaged in more impact tasks. However, Google has also invested billions of dollars in AI.

Recently, the company had said that Google One Subscription Service has increased more than 15 crore subscribers. In this service, subscribers have to pay for cloud storage and artificial intelligence (AI) features. Nearly six years after the service of Google One, its number of subscribers exceeded 10 crores in February last year. Along with this, Google introduced a paid plan with access to AI features. The price of this plan was $ 19.99 per month. However, access to AI features is not available for Google One’s free users. There is a low price plan for features like this service file storage. For the last few years, Alphabet has been getting a tough competition from AI chatbots like Chatgpt of Openai. Alphabet can help in strengthening the financial position in long-term by increasing subscriptions of Google One service. <!--

Boycott Pakistan Movement: After the incident of Pahalgam, the increased tension and operation of operation vermilion, the neighboring enemy country Pakistan has been completely breathless. After bringing Pakistan on his knees, now an attempt is being made to break it more by hitting it financially. This is the reason that the boycott campaign against Pakistan in the country is now gaining more emphasis.

Notice has been issued by the Central Consumer Protection Authority i.e. CCPA to other companies including Amazon and Flipkart and it has been said that they should remove the Pakistani flags and the goods there.

Baycott Pak’s campaign intensified

The CCPA says that selling Pakistan goods and its flag on e-commerce sites is openly a violation of laws related to sales. In such a situation, it should be removed immediately. Consumer Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi, while posting on his ex account, has instructed to remove it immediately.

He has written in his post that notice has been sent by the government to e-commerce platforms. He has written in it that these insensitive things will not be tolerated and all e-commerce companies have been instructed to follow the laws of the country.

The ccpa has issued notices to @Amazonin, @Flipkart, @Ubuyindia, @TsyThe flag company and the flag corporation over the sala of Pakistan and related merchandise. Such Insensitivity will not be tolerated.
E-Commerce Platforms are hereby Directed to Immedited Remove All… pic.twitter.com/03Q4FoxWCX

Campaigned against Pakistan’s friend Turkey

A similar campaign is also going on in the country against Türkiye, which supports Pakistan. In India, people are now not only by boys for Turki goods, but are also avoiding traveling there. Along with this, they are also appealing to tourism. The Turki Boycuts are calling at the time that a record number of Indian tourists were going there.

It is worth noting that the number of Indian tourists going to Turki in the year 2009 was 55 thousand, which increased to 2 lakh 30 thousand in 2019 after ten years. Last year i.e. in 2024, the number of Turkas from India had increased to 3 lakh 30 thousand 985. Praveen Khandelwal, general secretary of the traders’ organization Confederation of All India Traders (CAT) and MP from Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha seat, says that the journey boycott can have a very bad effect on the economy of Turkey and Azerbaijan. Especially the tourism sector there will be damaged.
