Budget 2026: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting the Union Budget 2026-27 today in the newly constructed ‘Kartavya Bhawan’. In this budget presented amid global uncertainties, the government has indicated a major strategic change in governance and economic planning. In his address, the Finance Minister outlined the ‘Three Duties’ (Kartavya), which will be the basis of the government’s roadmap for the upcoming financial year.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman clarified that the government will focus on three goals to realize the vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’.

What are these three duties of government?

Economic Sovereignty and Development: The first duty is to accelerate and sustain economic growth by enhancing productivity and competitiveness, so that India’s economy remains resilient amid global fluctuations.

Fulfillment of people’s aspirations: The second duty is to fulfill the aspirations of the citizens and build their capacity, so that they can become strong partners in the prosperity of the country.

Equitable Distribution of Resources: The third duty is to ensure that every family, community and region has access to resources and opportunities, so that the goal of inclusive development can be achieved.

This time’s budget is also being considered special because it is his ninth consecutive budget. With this achievement, she has become one of the few finance ministers who have presented the budget the most number of times.

The importance of the budget increased from political and economic point of view

People’s expectations from this budget have also increased a lot. The possibility of new announcements for farmers, students and middle class is being expressed. Apart from this, indications from the Economic Survey have shown that in this time’s budget the government can focus more on areas like employment, development and social security. Apart from this, big announcements can also be made for some election states, due to which the importance of the budget has increased from both political and economic point of view.

Experts believe that these goals announced from ‘Kartavya Bhawan’ will not only bring economic stability but will also strengthen the social infrastructure. This budget is being considered as a decisive step towards making India a ‘developed India’ by 2047.

Union Budget 2026: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the general budget for the financial year 2026-27 today on 1 February. This will be his ninth consecutive budget. While the general public is expecting relief from inflation regarding the budget, there are sharp reactions on it even in the political circles.

Before the budget, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra gave a big statement saying that she does not have much expectations from this budget, but let’s see what happens.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said this

On Union Budget 2026, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said that everyone is waiting to hear what the Finance Minister announces. He said that the economic survey has predicted good economic growth, but the real question is whether employment will also be created with this growth. Shashi Tharoor said that growth without employment does not benefit anyone. He stressed that it will be important to see what plans the government has to generate more employment for the youth of the country. Along with this, he said that elections are coming in Kerala and everyone will keep an eye on what benefits the central government provides there.

Akhilesh Yadav took aim

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, while targeting the government, said that what should be expected from the budget of a government from which there is no hope. He said that this budget is made only for 5 percent of the people and raised the question whether the government has lived up to the promises made in its manifesto or not.

‘There are very serious and sensitive challenges in the economy’

Congress MP Manish Tewari said, “There are very serious and sensitive challenges in the Indian economy. Nominal GDP has been declining for the last decade. Private investment is not happening. GDA is not coming. It is expected that the Finance Minister will accept this and make a roadmap on this.”

Budget 2026 will be presented on Sunday. On this occasion, regular live trading session will also be organized in the stock market. It has been an old tradition that when the budget is presented on 1 February and that day falls on a weekend, the markets still remain open. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has issued a circular informing that on Sunday, February 1, 2026, the stock market will be open from 9:15 am to 3:30 pm on the budget day. Since this day will be settlement holiday, shares purchased on January 30 will not be eligible for sale on February 1. Similarly, stocks purchased on the budget day will not be allowed to be sold the next day i.e. immediately.

The Government of India now wants that Made in India should not remain just a slogan, but should become a ground reality. Before Union Budget 2026, the government will spend approximately Rs. Working on incentive packages worth Rs 23,000 crore. The objective of these schemes is to increase manufacturing in the country and reduce dependence on imports. The biggest package is being prepared for the construction equipment sector, so that heavy machines like tunnel boring machines and cranes can be made in India. There will be emphasis on local production of advanced components, safety systems and sensors for the auto sector. This can provide huge benefits to domestic companies, exports and the overall economy.

2025 proved to be a turning point for the global economy. As inflationary pressure subsided, central banks had an opportunity to support growth.

In this video we understand why RBI and US Federal Reserve cut interest rates in 2025 and what effect it had on the economy. Taking advantage of low inflation, RBI in India cut the repo rate by a total of 125 basis points, which made borrowing cheaper and boosted consumption.

Inflation fell to a record low 0.25% in October 2025, giving space for aggressive monetary easing. At the same time, due to labor market slowdown in America, the Federal Reserve started rate cuts again in the second half of 2025. The impact of these policies was clearly visible on loans, investments and overall economic activity.

US President Donald Trump has once again given a big statement regarding his tariff policy. Trump has said that soon every citizen of America (except the rich) will be paid $2,000. This amount will be given from the tariff revenue collected by his administration.

“People who are against tariffs are fools!” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social. He claimed that during his tenure, America became the richest and most respected country in the world, where inflation was very low and the stock market had touched record highs.

Trump made a big claim

Trump also said that the US is earning trillions of dollars from tariffs, which will not only be used to reduce the $37 trillion national debt, but will also be distributed as dividends among ordinary citizens. According to him, every American (except high-income group) will soon get an amount of at least $2,000.

What did Trump write in his post?

He also mentioned the record-breaking achievements of the American economy in his post. Trump wrote, “401K (retirement savings) are at an all-time high. New plants and factories are being built across the country.” However, Trump has not given any clear information regarding the process or timeline for implementing this plan.

US Finance Secretary had said this

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant told CNBC in August that the administration is focused on reducing the $38.12 trillion national debt, for which tariff revenues are being used.

This statement comes at a time when the US Supreme Court is investigating whether Trump had misused his executive powers and imposed overly broad tariffs. Trump described this court investigation as completely baseless and said that tariffs are his most powerful economic weapon. Trump said, “We are earning trillions of dollars. This policy is making America strong, prosperous and self-reliant.”

Donald Trump has imposed 50% tariff on India’s exports, which will directly affect Indian exporters and workers and can pose a threat to millions of jobs. However, the Modi government has prepared a strategy to deal with this situation. Like the relief schemes implemented during the Kovid lockdown, people and businesses will be given relief through new schemes. Also, work on long -term strategies to find a new market from America and strengthen the global supply chain is going on.

According to the report of Hindustan Times, two senior officials said that the government is first focusing on finding a solution to the cash crisis. Along with this, work is being done on covid-style schemes to save export and employment. Trump’s tariff can cause many problems, such as delay in payment, non -supply of goods, or cancellation of order. The aim of the government is that the exporters should be given necessary relief to continue the operation till the new market is discovered.

Government can announce relief package

According to officials, the government can again bring such relief packages like Corona was given during the lockdown. This is especially necessary for small and medium industries because they are facing cash problems. The government will pay attention to schemes like Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS), in which 100% guarantee will be given loans without bail. This will save millions of small and medium industries from bankruptcy. In the lockdown, the same scheme rescued industries even after the industry was closed for 68 days.

Officials said that these schemes can be changed according to the current situation and its needs. The government will provide immediate relief as well as implement schemes in a phased manner so that long-term strategy can also be prepared. Apart from providing cash, strengthening the existing trade agreements and finding opportunities in the new market will also be faster.

GST will also get relief

Officials said that the government is also considering many reliefs related to tax, including GST reform. Many decisions related to tax reduction and improvement can be taken in the GST Council meeting to be held next week. He also said that due to the strength of the domestic market, India’s economy is safe and tariffs like external factors will not affect it much.

Officials said that the Indian economy remains strong and flexible due to domestic consumption. Although export plays an important role in economic development, it is only a small part of the country’s total GDP of 4.12 trillion dollars. The contribution of exports to the total GDP is about 10% i.e. $ 438 billion. For this reason, India’s economic growth rate was recorded at 7.8% even in the June quarter.

Fitch forecasts india gdp growth: Fitch Ratings have retained India’s credibility on ‘BBB-‘ with a stable landscape with a growth rate and strong financial position on the external front. The 50% US fee proposed on India is expected to have a slight negative impact on the 6.5 percent growth rate of its GDP (GDP) for the current financial year 2025-26. Fitch said, “If the proposed goods and service tax (GST) reforms are adopted, it will promote consumption and reduce some risks related to increase.”

The Center has proposed a rate of 40 percent for five to seven items as well as a second for five to seven items along with a bila-level tax structure of five and 18 percent for goods and services for the ministers set up on rationalization of GST rates. This proposal includes abolition of the existing 12 and 28 percent tax ‘slab’.

US agency seal on India’s growth

Fitch said, “India’s rating has its strong growth and solid external financial status.” BBB-“is the lowest investment category rating. This rating has come within a fortnight of ‘BBB’ by increasing India’s credit rating by the global rating agency S&P. It is worth noting that on August 14, S&P Global Ratings increased India’s credibility from ‘BBB-‘ to ‘BBB’. S&P has increased India’s credibility for the first time in 18 years.

Another global rating agency Morning DBRS had increased India’s rating to ‘BBB’ in May this year citing structural reforms. The agency has estimated to be 6.5 percent of the growth rate of GDP (GDP) in FY 2025-26, which is similar to the financial year 2024-25 and is above the average ‘BBB’ of 2.5 percent. It said that India’s economic scenario remains stronger than equivalent countries, although its pace has slowed down in the last two years.

Tariff will not affect

The agency said that it has estimated a growing capacity of 6.4 percent in the moderate period due to strong public capital expenditure, increase in private investment and favorable demographics. Fitch said, “If the proposed Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms are adopted, it will boost consumption and reduce some risks related to growth.” The rating agency, however, has expressed concern over the fiscal front, citing high deficit and debt compared to the countries of the ‘BBB’ category.

On the evening of 14 August 2025, President Draupadi Murmu addressed the nation before the 79th Independence Day. This address is a tradition that reflects both thinking and inspiration. This is President Murmu’s address on the eve of the fourth Independence Day since assuming office.

On the eve of Independence Day, President Draupadi Murmu congratulated all the countrymen in his message to the nation and said that it is a matter of pride for all of us that freedom day and Republic Day are celebrated with full enthusiasm and enthusiasm. He said that these days make us special remind of the pride of being Indian.

Democracy and Constitution paramount for us: Murmu
President Draupadi Murmu said, India has been the land of the oldest republics in the world. It is absolutely appropriate to call it the mother of democracy. On the foundation stone of the constitution adopted by us, the building of our democracy has been built. We created such institutions based on democracy, which strengthened the democratic functioning. For us, our constitution and our democracy are paramount.

Tribute on Partition Discrimination Memorial Day
Today we celebrated Partition Vibhishi Memor Day. Dreaded violence was observed due to partition and millions of people were forced to be displaced. Today we pay tribute to the people who have been victims of history mistakes. Our constitution mentions four such values which are four pillars that keep our democracy strong. These values are – justice, freedom, equality and fraternity. These are the principles of our civilization which we made alive again during the freedom struggle.

India is the fastest growing among the major economies of the world
The President said, India is the fastest growing country in the world’s major economies with a gross domestic product-growth rate of 6.5 percent in the last financial year. Despite the problems prevailing in the global economy, domestic demand is increasing rapidly. Inflation remains controlled. Export is increasing. All major indicators are reflecting the strong status of the economy. The government is running many welfare schemes for the poor. Those who have come above the poverty line but are not in a strong position, they also have security of such schemes so that they do not go down from the poverty line again.

Inaugurating railway contacts in the Kashmir Valley is a major achievement. Rail interaction of the valley with the rest of India will promote trade and tourism in that area and open the doors of new economic possibilities. In Kashmir, this extraordinary achievement of engineering is a historical milestone for our country. The government believes that on the basic facilities of life, citizens become rights. Under the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’, there is progress in providing water from tap to rural homes.

‘Ayushman Bharat’ was also mentioned
President Draupadi Murmu said that under the world’s biggest health-service scheme, ‘Ayushman Bharat’, various steps have been taken. As a result of those efforts, in the field of health-service, we are seeing revolutionary changes. Under this scheme, more than 55 crore people have been provided with security. The government has provided the facility of this scheme to all senior citizens aged 70 years and above, no matter how much their income.

In this digital age, it is natural that the most progression in India has been in the information technology sector. 4G mobile connectivity is available in almost all villages. This facility will be delivered soon in the remaining few thousand villages. This has made it possible to adopt digital payment technology on a large scale. In the field of digital payment, India has become the leading country in the world, in a short time. This has also given a boost to Direct Benefit Transfer, and welfare payments to the targeted beneficiaries are being ensured without any interruption and likage. Of the total digital transactions in the world, more than half of transactions take place in India.

India-A mission will fulfill India’s specific needs
The government has started the India-A mission to strengthen the AI capabilities of the country. Under this mission, models will be developed which will meet India’s specific requirements. Last week, on August 7, ‘National Handloom Day’ was celebrated in the country. The purpose of celebrating this day is to respect our weavers and their products. During our freedom struggle, in memory of the Swadeshi movement launched in 1905, since 2015, this day is celebrated every year.

Swadeshi’s idea has been inspiring national efforts like ‘Make-in-India’ and ‘Self-reliant Bharat Abhiyan’. We all have to take a pledge that we will buy and use the products made in our country. India is on the path of becoming a developed economy by 2047, on the strength of overall economic development, on the strength of the efforts made in the social sector. I understand that in this era of Amrit period, in the national journey to move forward, all the countrymen will contribute the most.

Shubhanshu Shukla also praised
Draupadi Murmu said that the journey of Shubhanshu Shukla’s International Space Station has inspired an entire generation to have high dreams. This space journey will prove to be extremely helpful for India’s upcoming human space flight program ‘Gaganyaan’. Our daughters are our pride. They are moving forward by crossing obstructions in every field including immunity and security. Sports are considered an important indicator of excellence, empowerment and capabilities. The final match of the ‘FID Women’s World Cup’ for the World Chess Championship was played between a daughter of 19 -year -old India and a 38 -year -old Indian woman.

A large part of our society belongs to the people of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes and other communities. People of these communities are now removing the tag to be marginalized. To realize their social and economic aspirations, through active efforts, the government has been helping them.

Majesty also mentioned the Pahalgam attack
Murmu said that this year we had to face the brunt of terrorism. The murder of innocent citizens who visited Kashmir was cowardly and absolutely inhuman. India answered this in a decisive manner with steely resolution. Operation Sindoor showed that when the question of security of the nation comes up, our armed forces prove to be fully capable of facing any situation. Operation vermilion, in the field of immunity, there was also an opportunity for the ‘self -sufficient Bharat Mission’ examination. Now it has been proved that we are on the right path. Our indigenous manufacturing has reached a decisive level where we have also become self-sufficient in fulfilling many of our security and facilities.

To face the challenge of climate change, we also have to make some changes in ourselves. We have to change our habits and our world vision. We have to change our relationship with our earth, rivers, mountains, trees and animals and animals.

S & p upgrades india ratings: India’s Sovereign Credit Rating was upgraded by S&P Global Ratings on Thursday, ‘BBB’. The rating agency has increased India’s rating after 19 years, citing strong economic growth, political commitment to fiscal strength and better monetary policy measures to control inflation.

Relief for India

The rating agency said that India is one of the best performing economies in the world. The quality of government spending has improved in the last 5-6 years. S&P said that the American tariff will have a very limited impact on the Indian economy. According to S&P, India is relatively less dependent on trade and about 60 percent of its economic growth comes from domestic consumption.

Significantly, the US agency has improved India’s Sovereign Credit rating at a time when earlier US President Donald Trump called the Indian economy as “dead economy”. A 25 percent base tariff over India on behalf of President Trump and then have been applied as an additional 25 percent penalty due to buying oil from Russia. That is, a 50 percent tariff on Indian goods will be effective from August 27, which is the highest fee ever.

What do you mean to improve credit?

Improvement in credit will reduce the cost of debt for Indian companies in international markets. S&P gave India the lowest investment level rating ‘BBB-‘ in January 2007. This is the first improvement in credit by a global rating agency, in which India has been given a rank above the lowest investment level. ‘BBB’ is an investment -level rating and it explains the country’s better ability to easily repay its debt obligations.

S&P had changed India’s credit rating scenario from ‘stable’ to ‘positive’ in May last year, as well as indicated that the rating could improve in the next 24 months. S&P improved India’s rating, saying, “Improvement in India’s credibility, the better monetary policy that curbs inflation reflects strong economic growth with the environment.”
