Us china tariff war: World Famous Economist and UN Advisor Professor Jeffrey Sachs has advised India to avoid being a part of America’s Geopolitical Strategies. Speaking on Wednesday in Rising Bharat Summit 2025, he said that India should not become a tool of America’s “anti-China agenda”.

America wants to use India against China

Jeffrey warned, “America wants to make India stand against China. India should not fall into this American game … India is much bigger than that.” He said that Washington always tries to maintain its dominance by dividing between countries and is now trying to use India as a ‘counterweight’ against China.

India-China can make the world better

Although Jeffrey admitted that some issues between India and China were disputed, they insisted on resolving them by negotiating with both countries. He said, “Both of you are 40 percent of the world’s population and together can create a better world.”

Question on coalition like quad

Jeffrey Sachs also questioned India’s participation in military-reconitive alliances like Quad. He said that these alliances keep America’s interests paramount and not of India.

He said, “America is happy when India is in the quad. It wants India to criticize China. I have heard some Indian leaders saying that the American trade policy is the reason for China. No, it is not … It is not due to the policies of Donald Trump. So be careful, be careful, do not fall into this game.”

America’s friendship can be dangerous

Jeffrey Sachs described America’s foreign policy as “control-based” and said that he can also harm his colleagues. He said in strong words, “If you are a friend of America, be careful. It can be very dangerous. I have seen America befriending countries all my life, which was later ruined due to the same ‘friendship’.”

British looted India

Sachs also reminded that both India and China have created large economies despite colonial exploitation. He said, “India was the largest or second largest economy in the world for centuries before the British arrived, but the British looted and weakened it.”

Should India distance away from America?
