ED recruitment 2026: The Central Government has taken a big decision to strengthen the functioning of the Enforcement Directorate. The Revenue Department of the Finance Ministry has approved a large number of new posts in the agency. Cadre review was awaited in ED for a long time, which has now got the green signal. After the creation of new posts, the total employee strength of the agency will increase from 2 thousand to more than 3 thousand. The government says that steps have been taken to speed up disposal of cases of increasing economic crimes, money laundering and financial investigations.

Recruitment will be done on these posts in ED

In the new system, the maximum increase has been made in the posts related to investigation. The post of Additional Director has been increased from 10 to 24. The number of Joint Director posts has increased from 28 to 49, the number of Deputy Directors has increased from 148 to 267, while the number of Assistant Director posts has increased from 255 to 531. Apart from this, the posts of Enforcement Officer have been increased from 355 to 606 and the posts of Assistant Enforcement Officer have been increased from 425 to 803. The government has given approval to add new posts not only in the investigation department but also in the legal and technical departments. Extra posts have also been created in Adjudication Wing, System Department, Ministerial Staff and Security Branch. The posts of senior constables in the security department have also been increased. It is believed that with this the investigation and legal process of cases will be faster than before.

What is the work of ED?

The Enforcement Directorate is the premier agency of the Government of India that investigates money laundering, foreign exchange law violations and major economic crimes. The agency works under the Revenue Department of the Finance Ministry. ED also has powers like raid, interrogation, confiscation of property and arrest.

Which post gets the maximum recruitment?

The biggest discussion in ED is about the recruitment to the post of Assistant Enforcement Officer i.e. AEO. Recruitment to this post is done through the SSC CGL examination of the Staff Selection Commission. Apart from this, many senior officers from IAS, IPS and IRS services are also sent to ED on deputation. In this recruitment process, document verification is done after Tier-1 and Tier-2 examination of SSC CGL. On selection, the candidate is appointed in many central departments including ED.
