The massive fire that broke out in ‘Hazargo West’ company located in Sector-3 of Pithampur, Dhar, Madhya Pradesh has taken a huge form. According to the information, the fire suddenly broke out in the company premises and spread within no time. The flames were so strong that clouds of fire were visible far and wide. As soon as the information was received, dozens of fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and the work of extinguishing the fire was started. However, despite continuous efforts, the fire continued to spread rapidly. During this time, a dumper and a JCB machine parked in the company premises also caught fire and were completely burnt to ashes.

As a precaution, nearby companies were evacuated in time, due to which there was no loss of life. But according to preliminary assessment, a loss of crores of rupees is being feared in this arson. An accurate assessment of the loss has not been possible at present.

Police arrived on information of the incident

On receiving information about this incident, police of all three police stations of Pithampur, station in-charge, Dhar SP and collector in-charge reached the spot and took stock of the situation. Relief and rescue operations are being continuously monitored by the administration.

More than a dozen fire brigade vehicles arrived

The cause of the fire has not been clearly known yet. To control the fire, additional fire engines have been called from Indore, Dhar and Dhamnod and teams of more than a dozen fire brigades are making continuous efforts. At present the operation to extinguish the fire is going on. The administration has put the entire area under surveillance by creating a secure cordon. A case of villagers protesting and pelting stones at the police and survey team has come to light during the limestone sampling by Shree Cement Factory in village Kheldi of Kukshi assembly of Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh. The incident took place in Kukshi police station area, where machines and administrative vehicles were also vandalized. The administration is currently trying to control the situation and convince the villagers.

The matter is of 18 February when drilling survey was being conducted to check the availability of selected stone in villages Talawadi, Takari, Bamanda Baidi, Mogra, Bhimpura and Khedli under Kukshi police station of Dhar district. Machines and staff from Shree Cement Factory had reached the village along with the police force for sampling.

The villagers fear that after the survey the land will be handed over to the cement factory. A large number of people gathered in this protest and expressed anger against the administration. Within no time, angry villagers pelted stones at the vehicles of police and administrative officials.

How did the controversy escalate?

According to the information, to search for limestone, drilling was being done in the area to check how much area and to what depth the limestone was present. As a precautionary measure, police forces from several police stations were deployed on the spot.

The villagers strongly protested against the survey and raised slogans against the administration and the police. Incidents of stone pelting and vandalism of vehicles came to light. However, the police personnel did not resort to lathicharge despite the circumstances. SDM Pramod Gurjar said that this situation arose due to opposition to the sampling work. The administration has given advice to the villagers and currently there is peace in the area. The police has not given official information regarding the registration of the case, while some officers are maintaining distance from the media.

Work will be done only on government land – Administration

Dhar Collector Priyank Mishra had earlier organized a camp in the Bagh area and discussed with the villagers. He had assured that the work would be done only on government land and no action would be taken on private land without consent. Despite this the villagers are opposing the survey. During the incident, Jayas leader Raviraj Baghel also reached among the villagers and talked about fighting a legal battle. The administration and police are continuously communicating and trying to normalize the situation.

There will be no force on water, forest and land – Congress

At the same time, Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly Umang Singhar tweeted that the water and forest land of tribals will not be forcibly taken away. He wrote – “In the villages of Gandhwani, Kukshi and Jobat assembly constituencies of Dhar and Alirajpur district, limestone drilling for the cement factory is being done without the permission and under the pressure of the villagers. Health center store-keeper Basant Ajnar said that more than 180 patients reached the camp and due to lack of beds, women had to be made to lie on the floor after the operation. He said that doctors are experts and there is no problem of time, but this lack of arrangements raises big questions on the preparedness of the health system itself.

Outside the sterilization centre, some women and men were swinging small children with cloth bags on them. When asked, he said that we were called to the sterilization center at 8:00 in the morning. Show cause notice issued

Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. Anita Singare said that departmental action was initiated as soon as information about sterilization being carried out in the camp in excess of the prescribed standards and irregularities in the process came to the notice. CMHO said that a show cause notice was issued to Dr. Virbhadra Singh Muvel, BMO of Bagh. Besides, he was attached to Dhar from administrative point of view. Dr. Singare clarified that the authority to suspend BMO is not at his level, hence a letter has been written to senior officials in this regard and necessary action has been recommended.

Administration assured of strict action

It is noteworthy that a case of sterilization of more women than the prescribed number came to light in the camp, after which questions were raised on the health system and monitoring system in the district. The administration is continuing the investigation of the case and has assured strict action against the culprits.

What did BJP-Congress say on the matter?

BJP spokesperson Gulrez Sheikh said about the irregularities in Dhar’s sterilization case that protocol has been violated. For this, appropriate action has been taken by the administration and it will be ensured that this does not happen again.

Meanwhile, Congress spokesperson Rahul Raj said that the health system has collapsed under the BJP rule. The government’s focus is only on figures. No one’s life has any value. He further said that the government cannot escape responsibility.
