These days, teachers of primary schools in Mau district of Uttar Pradesh seem to be more involved in following government schemes than teaching. After providing help to people in dog bite incidents, now another new alert task has been assigned to the teachers. This time the matter is related to installation of solar panels on teachers’ homes under PM Suryaghar Yojana, regarding which administrative strictness has come to the fore.

A letter is going viral in the district, according to which teachers working in primary schools will have to compulsorily install solar panels on their homes and submit its certificate. It has been clarified in the order that in case of not providing the certificate, the salary of teachers can be stopped.

It became a case of disobedience to the authorities

In the viral letter addressed to all the Block Education Officers, it has been said that as per the instructions of the Chief Development Officer, solar panels were to be installed in every teacher’s house under PM Suryaghar Yojana, but till now information or certificate of 100% compliance has not been provided. This has been considered as disobedience to the orders of higher officials.

Order to personally contact teachers

It has also been directed in the letter that the Block Education Officers should personally contact the teachers working in the schools of their respective areas and obtain the certificates for installation of solar panels. Also, a clear warning has been given that attendance for salary on the Manav Sampada Portal will be locked only after the certificate is submitted.

According to the order, until the information about 100% solar installation and the certificate signed by the Block Education Officer is made available to the undersigned, the salary of the concerned teachers will not be withdrawn. After this order, the discussion is intense in the teacher community. Many teachers are calling it unnecessary administrative pressure, while some are considering it an attempt to implement a government scheme. At present, ‘solar’ panels have come into the center of discussion more than education in Mau.
