The BJP government of Haryana and the state education minister make tall claims about better arrangements in government schools, but the ground reality seems completely different from these claims. The matter pertains to the government school of Rajapur village, which falls under the assembly constituency of Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda in Panipat, where children have to struggle even for basic facilities.

There is no provision of drinking water, no boundary wall and no security arrangements in the school. The situation is such that students have to cross the road to another building of the school to drink water and go to the bathroom, due to which there is always a risk of accident.

Stray animals and youth roam in the open school

The biggest problem of the school has come to the fore regarding security. There is neither a main gate nor a boundary wall in the school. In such a situation, stray animals and outsiders enter the school premises at any time. The students say that sometimes stray youths also roam around the school, which makes them feel uncomfortable.

The situation is so bad that the villagers themselves have had to form a committee for the safety of the children. This committee keeps vigil during school hours so that children can study in a safe environment. The surprising thing is that the village whose school is in this condition has been adopted by the Education Minister himself.

School teacher Sitarani said that the biggest problem of the school is the lack of boundary wall. He said that due to lack of boundary wall, children feel unsafe all the time. This is the reason why the bathrooms in the school are also closed.

He told that since the school is open, stray animals and outsiders keep coming inside continuously. Not only this, villagers also leave the school premises with their vehicles. The teacher said that a school that does not have boundary walls is the biggest weakness of any school.

Allegation of encroachment on school land

The teacher said that the school land has been illegally encroached upon, due to which the boundary wall is not being built. The school principal and the village sarpanch have complained to the education department and the government several times regarding this problem, but no solution has been found yet.

He also told that there is a huge shortage of rooms in the school. Two classes each are held in the same room, while some children have to be taught sitting in the verandah. There is no arrangement for fans in the verandah, due to which children face a lot of trouble in summer.

The school has been struggling with problems for two years

Rural Gurmukh said that the school has been struggling with these problems for the last two years. He said that the work of the boundary wall is stuck due to encroachment on the school land. At present, fencing has been done in the school so that stray animals cannot reach the classroom.

Gurmukh told that the entire school is open from all sides. People even park their vehicles here. After several complaints, the matter reached the SDM court and the court also gave its verdict in favor of the school, but despite this the administration did not take any concrete action.

He told that many times the duty magistrate also reached the spot, but due to administrative negligence the problem remains the same. Gurmukh said that children are forced to cross the road all day long to drink water and go to the bathroom, due to which a major accident can happen at any time.

Study amidst fear and insecurity – girl students

School student Bhavna told that due to lack of boundary wall, the bathrooms of the school are not being opened. The girl students are always afraid that any outsider can come to the school.

He said that sports activities are also not being conducted properly. To drink water and go to the bathroom, one has to cross the road to another building, which makes one feel very insecure. The students said that studies could not be done properly in this environment.

School girls and villagers have demanded the education officials of Panipat district and the Education Minister to solve the problems of the school as soon as possible. Villagers say that when this is the condition of the village school adopted by the Education Minister, then the condition of other government schools can be easily estimated.
