<p style="text-align: justify;">The date of Bakrid (Eid-ul-Azha), the second biggest festival of Muslims across the country, has been announced. Shahi Imam of Delhi&#8217;s historic Jama Masjid Syed Shaban Bukhari has officially announced that this year Bakrid will be celebrated in India on Thursday 28 (May).</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">This announcement has been made after the Markazi Ruyat-e-Hilal Committee meeting was held on Sunday evening () to see the moon.</p>

<h3 style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Moon not visible, Jil Hijj will start from May 19</strong></h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Releasing a video message after the meeting of Markazi Ruyat-e-Hilal Committee at Jama Masjid Delhi, Shahi Imam Syed Shaban Bukhari said, &#8220;Today the moon of the month of Zilhijj has not been sighted. Ruyat of 30 has been decided in the meeting of Markazi Ruyat-e-Hilal Committee, Jama Masjid Delhi.&#8221;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">He further announced that since the moon has not been sighted, the first date of &#8216;Zil Hajj&#8217;, the last month of the Islamic calendar, will be on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Eid-ul-Azha (Bakrid) will be celebrated on 28th May. </strong></h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">According to Islamic beliefs, the festival of Bakrid is celebrated on the 10th of the month of Zilhijj. Shahi Imam clarified in his statement that the month of Zilhijj is starting from 19th May, hence 10th Zilhijj will fall on 28th May.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">He said, &#8220;Eid-ul-Azha will be Inshallah on 28th May, on Jumerat (Thursday).&#8221; With this announcement, the situation regarding Bakrid preparations across the country has become clear.</p>
