There is intense excitement regarding the assembly elections in the southern states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. BJP is trying to strengthen itself in both these states. According to the opinion poll conducted before the elections, there may be a tough contest between the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala. There is a possibility of a close contest between the DMK alliance and the NDA in Tamil Nadu.

Congress will make a comeback in Kerala

According to the MATRIZE opinion poll shown on India TV, LDF is expected to get 62-68 seats, UDF 67-73 seats, BJP 05-08 seats and others 0-3 seats in Kerala. There can be a big upheaval here. The Congress-led UDF alliance is likely to get majority in the survey. LDF has been running the government in Kerala for the last decade. Talking about vote share, LDF alliance in Kerala is likely to get 39% votes, UDF 42%, NDA 15% and others 4%.

Shock to DMK in Tamil Nadu: Survey

According to MATRIZE opinion poll, the DMK alliance seems to be suffering a big loss in Tamil Nadu. Here the NDA alliance is likely to get majority. Out of 234 seats in the state, DMK alliance is likely to get 102-115 seats, NDA 107-120, TVK 5-12 seats and others 1-6 seats. In the state, NDA is likely to get 40 percent votes, DMK alliance 38 percent, TVK 16 percent and others 6 percent.

Tamil Nadu Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on 23 April and the results will be declared on 4 May. The process of filing nominations for this has ended on Monday (6 April 2026). DMK got a one-sided majority in the assembly elections held in 2021. The party contested elections on 188 seats and won 133. Whereas ADMK had got 66 seats.

Voting will be held in Kerala on 9 April while the results will be announced on 4 May. In the last assembly elections, CPI got 17 seats, CPI(M) got 62 seats, Congress 21, NCP 2, IUML 15, JD(S) 2, KEC(M) 5 seats.
