Before the Bihar Assembly elections, a big deadlock has arisen regarding the distribution of seats of the Grand Alliance. According to sources, Lalu Prasad Yadav is not ready to give more than 50 seats to Congress, whereas Congress wants to keep its hold on some important seats strong. Meanwhile, the party has activated former Union Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh, who is in touch with Lalu Prasad Yadav to resolve the matter.

According to sources, Akhilesh Singh had met Lalu last evening and he will meet him today also to discuss the issue. It is believed that Akhilesh Singh will try to find a solution to the seat formula for the grand alliance. According to sources, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav may go to Delhi late today evening. He is likely to meet Rahul Gandhi. In this meeting, the upcoming election strategy of the Grand Alliance and issues of seat sharing are likely to be discussed.

Previous record of seat sharing in Grand Alliance

The 2020 assembly elections were contested by the Communist Party of India-Marxist Leninist (CPI-ML), Communist Party of India (CPI) and Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) along with RJD and Congress. At that time RJD was given 144 seats, Congress 70 seats, CPI-ML 19, CPI 6 and CPM 4 seats.

Then Mukesh Sahni came out of the press conference on the day of announcement of seat sharing of the alliance and joined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had given him 11 seats of its quota.

Now Mukesh Sahni has been involved in the Grand Alliance for a long time. Apart from this, Hemant Soren’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Pashupati Paras’ Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) are also ready to join the alliance if they get seats.

What is the mathematics of seats?

According to RJD’s formula, the party will contest elections on 138 seats this time, which is 6 seats less than in 2020. Congress will have to reduce its share from 70 to 57 seats. CPI-ML will also have to be satisfied with 18 seats instead of 19.

Mukesh Sahni has been proposed to contest 16 seats. CPI and CPM can be given 6 and 4 seats respectively as before. Out of the remaining 4 seats, 2 seats each are likely to be given to JMM and RLJP.

There is also a discussion that Lalu Yadav has asked Pashupati Paras to merge his party with RJD to include him in the alliance. Paras is worried about his son contesting the elections, where currently RJD’s Ramvriksh Sada is the MLA.

Bihar Politics: Before the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, the Congress has formally decided to contest elections under the ‘India’ alliance. The decision was taken in a high level meeting held in New Delhi on Tuesday (March 25) under the chairmanship of party president Mallikarjun Kharge. Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, prominent leader of Bihar Congress and other national officials were present in the meeting. The main objective of this meeting was to clarify the status of the alliance in Bihar and decide the strategy of the upcoming election.

After the meeting, Bihar Congress President Rajesh Kumar addressed the media and confirmed the party’s decision. He said, ‘The Congress will contest elections completely with the India alliance in Bihar. Our main goal is to defeat the BJP -led alliance. The BJP is our biggest political rival in Bihar and we will put full strength to defeat it. He also clarified that the grand alliance in Bihar is completely united and there is no confusion or differences like other states. The Congress believes that to exclude BJP in Bihar, all opposition parties will have to form a strong strategy together.

Discussion on seat sharing and Chief Minister’s post continues to continue

When he was questioned about the seat sharing, Rajesh Kumar said that it is too early to discuss it. He said, ‘When the election comes close, the leaders of the coalition will jointly formulate a concrete strategy and a final decision will be taken on the seat sharing.’

At the same time, when the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) questioned Tejashwi Yadav as the Chief Ministerial candidate for the Grand Alliance was questioned, the Congress leaders indicated that the final decision will be taken only after discussion among all the coalition partners. Congress in -charge Krishna Allavaru said that the decision of the Chief Minister candidate will be taken after the meeting of all the parties of ‘India’ alliance ‘.

Decision will be made soon regarding new colleagues

It was also discussed in the meeting whether Prashant Kishore’s Jan Suraj Party will be included in the India alliance. On this, Congress leaders did not give any direct reply and said that ‘a decision will be taken only after proper discussion’. The role of Pappu Yadav was also questioned, on which the Congress leaders said that the India alliance stands with all those who are against the BJP and are struggling to save democracy. Many prominent leaders of Bihar Congress were present in this meeting, including former state president Akhilesh Singh, former ministers Ramjatan Sinha and Shakeel Ahmed.
