Bihar Assembly Election 2025: Voting for the assembly elections in Bihar is going to be held on 6th and 11th November. The results of the voting will be declared on November 14. Meanwhile, let us know how the Election Commission decides how many people will vote at which booth. Let us know what are the rules for this.

Limit on number of voters per booth

It is a very important job of the Election Commission to ensure that voters can cast their vote easily, safely and without any confusion. For this, a system called rationalization of polling stations is followed by the Commission. This system decides how many voters there will be at each polling center and where those centers will be located.

Let us tell you that the Election Commission usually sets a limit of 1500 voters for each polling station. This helps in avoiding crowding, reducing long queues and allowing the voting process to continue throughout the day without any hassle. However, this number may vary depending on the geographical conditions of the area. Polling stations can also be set up for very small numbers of voters in remote, forested areas, hilly or sparsely populated areas.

What are the remaining rules?

Along with this, there is also a rule that voters have to travel only two kilometers to reach their polling station. This ensures easy access to polling stations and helps in increasing the voting percentage. Under this rule, people living in remote villages, tribal areas or small settlements do not face any difficulty in exercising their franchise.

Auxiliary polling station for crowded polling stations

Whenever the number of voters in a particular area exceeds the limit of 1500, an auxiliary polling station is set up by the Election Commission. This support center is established in the same building or in the surrounding premises. These polling stations are marked by adding letters like A, B and C after the polling station number.

Selection of location of polling stations

Polling stations are usually set up in government buildings such as schools or community halls. This is because these are public places and it becomes very easy for voters to identify them.

decision making process

This entire process starts by analyzing the voter list of every assembly constituency. From this it can be known how many voters live in each area. After this, based on this number and distance rules, the District Election Officer prepares a list of polling stations. This list is then shared with recognized political parties. After this they give suggestions or raise objections. After reviewing all the processes the final list is sent to the Chief Electoral Officer of the state and finally to the Election Commission of India for approval.

In view of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, the Political Budget, which started on the special intensive revision (SIR) being conducted in the state by the Election Commission (ECI), is not taking the name of stopping. Meanwhile, there is talk of special intensive revision in the entire country by the Election Commission.

Giving information in a post on social media platform X on Friday (July 25, 2025), news agency ANI said that the Election Commission said in its June 24 order on the revision of voter lists that to keep the constitution rules to protect the voter lists, it has now decided to start the SIR in the entire country. A program will be released for this in the rest of the country.

Learn what is special intensive revision (SIR)
The Election Commission says that to make the voter list transparent, it is necessary to review it from time to time, so that the disqualified persons involved in it can be removed and the correction of the election can be increased. The Election Commission had explained its importance by responding on the protest on SIR on the previous day.

The Election Commission said that the Constitution of India is the mother of Indian democracy. Should the Election Commission be blinded by coming under the influence of some people and going against the Constitution, fearing these things. The Commission raised the question that in Bihar, then in the country, the deceased voters, voters who have migrated permanently, voters who have registered votes in two places and fake votes cannot be cast in the name of foreign voters.

The controversy that started on the verification of the voter list in Bihar is not taking the name of stopping. In Darbhanga, a Congress leader has shared a video, which the opposition is telling an open proof of the collusion of the Election Commission and BJP. The video is from a government school in Darbhanga, where the BLO of the polling station is sitting and next to him, the women’s district president Sapna Bharti is sitting. The Congress leader who made the video questioned the presence of the BJP leader, after which there was a debate on the camera between the two and this video went viral. Tejashwi Yadav shared the video and wrote, “Does any more direct evidence require?” As the dispute escalated, the District Election Officer clarified that the BJP leaders had come to submit documents of their family members, while the BJP woman leader says that she was helping the women of the locality. This year elections are to be held in Bihar and next year in West Bengal. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took out a protest march in Kolkata and said that those who speak Bengali are trying to snatch their rights by calling them Bangladeshi Rohingya and they are being arrested. Mamta Banerjee said that if the Election Commission demands amendment in the voter list before the assembly elections, it will be opposed. At the same time, BJP says that this is very important to happen. BJP leaders clearly say that “We have only one thing in Bihar, start immediately in Bengal. And the scam delete all the names of Rohingya Muslims in it.” BJP believes that in the coming days, situations like Bihar may be seen in West Bengal.
