Longest Test Match: Test cricket has always been called a “game of patience”, but do you know that sometimes this patience lasts even for 10 days? Yes, there have been some test matches in the history of cricket which were played for more than a week, but still the result was a “draw”. South Africa v England – 10 days (Durban, 1939)

The longest match in Test history was played between South Africa and England on 3 March 1939 in Durban. This match lasted for 10 days and still ended in a draw. Actually, this was a “timeless test”, that is, there was no fixed date for the end of the match. This match was going to continue till the result was declared, but the English team had to catch a plane to return home. Therefore the match had to be abandoned midway.

West Indies v England – 9 days (Kingston, 1930)

Earlier, in the Test played between West Indies and England on 3 April 1930, the battle of ball and bat lasted for 9 days. Both the teams scored like mountains, but so much time passed that no result could be found in the match. This match became the most talked about match of that era.

Australia v England – 8 days (Melbourne, 1929)

In this match played in Melbourne on 8 March 1929, Australia defeated England after an 8-day battle. At that time, there were many great players in the England team, but Australia’s batsmen performed brilliantly and achieved this historic victory.

Australia v England – 7 days (Sydney, 1912 & 1924)

There were two such matches between England and Australia on Sydney soil which lasted for 7-7 days. England had won the match played in the year 1912. Whereas in 1924, Australia made a brilliant comeback and won the match.

In the second T20 match of the series played against South Africa in Manchester, the English team hit 304 runs losing just 2 wickets in 20 overs. This is the first time that a Test playing country has crossed the 300 mark in T20 International. Along with this, England also broke India’s record, which had scored a huge score of 297 runs against Bangladesh last year.

In 2023, Nepal scored 314 against Mongolia, while in 2024 Zimbabwe scored 344 runs against Gambia. Now England has made it to this list as a Test Nation.

England has now registered the highest score in both ODI and T20 formats. In ODIs, England scored 498 against the Netherlands and now hit 304 runs in T20. With this stunning victory, England has equal the series 1-1.

England have mastered making big scores in ODIs. In the third ODI match against South Africa, the England team has scored a huge score of 414 runs. This is the seventh time when the British have scored more than 400 runs in a ODI match. Joe Root and Jacob Bethel helped England create this special record while playing a century innings. The 182 -run partnership of Root and Bethel had broken the back of South African bowlers.

In this match, England had a 59 -run salute partnership by Ben Docket and Jamie Smith. Smith scored 62 runs and Docket contributed 31 runs. Joe Root scored 100 runs in 96 balls and scored the 19th century of his ODI career. On the other hand, Jacob Bethel played a rage of 110 runs in 82 balls.

400 runs in ODIs

England has now jointly come in second place with India in terms of scoring 400 runs in ODIs. Team India has also scored more than 400 runs on 7 occasions.
