In the NEET re-exam fraud case, the SIT of the Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) on Thursday (July 09, 2026) took 72 hours remand of 30 accused lodged in Lakhisarai Mandal Jail. After getting remand permission from the court in all the three cases registered in Kiul and Kavaiya police stations of the city, the investigating agency has now started preparations for interrogation.

The inquiry may reveal many important links of the entire network of fraud. Last Wednesday (July 08, 2026), the Chief Judicial Magistrate had given permission for remand in two cases registered in Kiul and Kavaiya police stations. Earlier, EOU had got approval for remand in another case registered at Kavaiya police station. On Thursday (July 09, 2026), the SIT took all the 30 accused together to Patna.

The accused will first be interrogated separately in Patna. After this everyone’s statements will be combined. If necessary, interrogation will also be done by sitting face to face. According to sources, senior officers of EOU and research officers of all three cases will be present during this period.

Many revelations can be made during interrogation

It is believed that the team may get a lot of important information during the interrogation. The entire network of fraud, financial transactions, contacts with other states or districts can be revealed. Important information can also be found about the mastermind of this racket.

Nine fake candidates were caught

Let us tell you that after the paper leak incident, a major fraud was revealed in Lakhisarai during the NEET UG examination held on June 21. Nine fake candidates were arrested while appearing for the exam in place of other candidates. Taking action, the police arrested 30 accused. These included nine fake candidates, one original candidate, two associates and 18 biometric personnel. EOU took over the investigation. A 12-member SIT is investigating under the leadership of DIG.

Sanjeev mukhiya arrested: Sanjeev Mukhiya, the main accused in the NEET paper leak case, has been arrested. This information has been revealed on the morning of Friday (25 April 2025). Recently, the Bihar government had declared a reward of three lakhs on the Sanjeev Mukhiya. He was absconding since the 5 May 2024 NEET paper leaks. Along with NEET, he has been an accused in the paper leaks of many competition examinations.

Sanjeev Mukhiya is a resident of Nagarnusa village in Nalanda district of Bihar. The name of Sanjeev Mukhiya also came in the Bihar constable recruitment examination leak case in the year 2016. After this, his name has been added to many paper leaks. The chief is being questioned. He has been arrested by the team of Patna Police and Economic Offenses Unit.

Six accused were arrested from Deoghar

It is said that STF arrested Sanjeev Mukhiya on Thursday night. The investigating agency is completely suspicious that Sanjeev Mukhiya has a special role in NEET paper leaks. It may be noted that last year (2024) in this case, six people were arrested from Deoghar in Jharkhand. In this, a person named Chintu was also caught. He is a relative of Sanjeev Mukhiya.

Now after the arrest of Sanjeev Mukhiya, many more secrets in this case can be revealed. Other people may also be arrested. Please tell that Sanjeev Mukhiya used to work as a technical assistant in Agricultural College in Nalanda. Sanjeev’s wife Mamta has contested the assembly elections. Sanjeev’s son Shivkumar is also in jail in the paper leak case. In January, Patna Civil Court issued a warrant for arrest against Sanjeev.

Arrest from an apartment located in Saguna Mor

EDG of EOU Nayyar Hasnain Khan said that the team of the Economic Offenses Unit was engaged for a long time behind Sanjeev Mukhiya. After the NEET exam, we had prime target. Was absconding for a long time. It has been arrested from an apartment near Saguna Mor in Patna. Input was found late last night. After that, arrests have been made by raiding.
