e-sim benefits: The technology of smartphone design is continuously developing. Manufacturers are changing the technology of gadgets over time. Then whether the change is through sleek design or through better performance. Apple made a similar change many years ago. That change was to remove the traditional SIM card port and use e-sim. But the question arises whether there was a significant difference in the weight of the phone after this change or not. Let’s know

What happens by removing SIM card port

Removing the SIM card tray does not reduce the total weight of the smartphone. Actually, the weight difference is so low that the user does not even know about it. SIM card tray and SIM card weighing only a few grams. But it has a great impact on the design and efficiency of the device. Actually, with the help of E SIM, users can store their cellular data profile digitally. It has a lot of benefits.

Benefits of E Sim

First of all, by removing the SIM tray, smartphone manufacturers can use empty space to make the internal system even better. When the empty space is used correctly, the design of the phone can be made thin, more compact and attractive. Along with this, the SIM card tray is removed and more space for better battery, camera or other necessary facilities.

Apart from this, one of the biggest advantage of removing the SIM card tray is that the phone helps to resign water. That is, the sim tray is a weak link from where dust and moisture can go into the phone. The sealing of the phone without a tray becomes more secure. This is very important because smartphones become more strong and stronger.

Another advantage of this is that dual sim functionality is found without the need of an additional SIM card slot. Actually, new smartphones can store many E SIM profiles. This means that users can easily switch between different numbers and even different carriers without changing the SIM card. This is very beneficial for those who need to keep individual and business numbers separately on the same device.

Apart from this, its biggest advantage is that E Sim cannot be removed easily or can not be changed. This means that it is impossible for a thief to remove your SIM and use it in another device.

There was a change in the model of iPhone

Apple started giving E SIM support in 2018 with iPhonexs, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR models. There was also a system of traditional physical SIM card tray in these models. This made dual sim facility possible. In the latter models, E SIM support continued and some new models such as iPhone 14 and 15 in America, I just started being provided E SIM. After removing the SIM card tray, there is no significant reduction in weight but the design of the model can improve.

esim activation: In India, now BSNL has also started its ESIM service like Airtel, Jio and VI (Vodafone Idea). Currently, this facility is available in select circles. The work of ESIM is exactly the same as physical SIM, but it is present digitally inside your phone. Many premium smartphones like iPhone, Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy S series support ESIM.

Why switch to ESIM?

There is no need to remove ESIM again and again.

It neither breaks nor deteriorates.

However, keep in mind that if you accidentally delete ESIM from the phone, the network connection will be closed immediately.

How to get ESIM?

The method of every telecom company is slightly different.

Jio users: You can request the MyJio app or go to the nearest Jio store.

Airtel and vi users: You can apply from the company’s official app. Apart from this, send SMS on 121 or 199 according to your network. Message format: ESIM.

Bsnl users: One has to go to the close customer service center and apply. Here the KYC process will have to be completed, for which Aadhaar card is necessary.

What is activation process

After the request submit, follow these steps:

The QR code of ESIM will be sent on your registered email.

After this, open Settings → Mobile Networks/Cellular/Sim Services.

Now select “Add ESIM” or “Download ESIM” option.

After this, scan the QR code from the email.

Now you will get a verification call which will complete the process.

The entire process can take up to about 4 hours.

Last step and security

As soon as ESIM is active, your physical SIM network will be closed automatically and now you will be able to use all services from ESIM. According to TRAI rules, you will not be able to send or receive any SMS for the first 24 hours after activation. This rule has been applied to prevent sim swap fraud.
