The Delhi government has decided to extend the existing EV Policy till 31 March 2026. This decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. To achieve the objective of Green Delhi, the government has increased this policy till 31 March next year. In such a situation, Delhi’s Transport Minister Pankaj Singh said that suggestions will be taken from people on the draft of the new policy, which is likely to take time.

The current EV policy was introduced by the Aam Aadmi Party during its rule in 2020, which ended in August 2023. Since then, this policy has been extended many times.

In view of the critical condition of air pollution in Delhi, the government is considering this policy as an important step, so that a clean and sustainable transport policy can be made in the coming time.

According to Pankaj Singh, the reason behind increasing the time of EV policy is that private companies, people and industry experts, environmental organizations can be discussed with all the necessary aspects.

Deadline was also increased before this

According to an HT report, the Delhi government had extended the EV policy for four months on July 15 last week. The deadline for this policy was November 15.

During this time, the officials associated with the case had told last week that the draft of the new policy is still under review, which is yet to be approved.

Now the Delhi government has once again increased the deadline of the EV policy to 31 March 2026.

Pankaj Singh says that during this extended period, the major provisions of the policy will be discussed.

Delhi electric vehicle policy 2.0: Changes are now being heard on the streets of Delhi. In the coming days, there is a possibility of removing the sheet of smoke. They are saying this because the new dawn of electric vehicles is going to knock. The Delhi government is going to hold a cabinet meeting on EV (Electric Vehicle) Policy 2.0 today (April 15), where this draft policy will be discussed.

95 percent electric vehicle by 2027
According to government officials, after the approval of the draft, the Transport Department will make it public on its website and seek suggestions from the general public and related stakeholders. Under this new policy, the government aims to have 95 percent of the vehicles registered in Delhi by the year 2027, and by 2030 the figure reached 100 percent.

First EV policy and its effect
Significantly, in the year 2020, the Aam Aadmi Party government had implemented the EV policy for the first time, which was aimed at making 25 percent of the vehicles electric by 2024. However, till now only 9.39 percent of the vehicles in Delhi have been electric.

Attractive subsidy in new policy
Many attractive subsidies are proposed to the public in the new policy. There will be subsidy on buying e-car up to 20 lakh rupees. Along with this, a direct rebate of Rs 30,000 will be given to women who buy 100 e-copy vehicles first to encourage women.

Changes in registration for e-vehicles
An official said, “Under the new policy, only e-addict and e-auto registration will be given priority from next year. Targets will also be set to shift taxi and cab services to electric mode.” Apart from this, there can also be a provision for compensation or subsidy for scrapping old petrol, CNG and diesel vehicles.

Interestingly, it will be made mandatory to have an electric vehicle to register a third vehicle at the same address. This policy will not only clean the air of Delhi, but will also set an example towards adopting EV across the country.

The Delhi government is soon to apply Delhi EV Policy 2.0 (Delhi Ev Policy 2.0), which is currently underway. After implementation, this policy will replace the previous Delhi EV policy. Now the aim of Delhi EV Policy 2.0 is to electric by 2027 to electric and generate 20 thousand new jobs related to electric mobility. Under this policy, the government is also planning to give subsidy of up to Rs 36 thousand to women customers who buy electric two-wheelers. Let us know in detail about Delhi Ev Policy 2.0.

News agency PTI has reported that in the draft version of Delhi Ev Policy 2.0, the first 10,000 female electric two-wheeler buyers are proposed to give this benefit, who have valid driving license. The purpose of this proposal is to increase the participation of women in electric vehicles in the mobility sector. In the draft policy, it is proposed to give benefits to the women of Delhi, who will get an incentive amount of Rs 12 thousand per kWh (KWH0), which will be up to Rs 36 thousand on the electric wheeler.

At present, the Delhi government is considering this proposal and it is expected to be approved soon. The Delhi EV Policy 2.0 has been prepared as a complement to the PM e-Drive Scheme of the Government of India, which aims to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in the national capital. The upcoming policy will remain valid till March 31, 2030. The draft proposal for the policy provides information about electric two-wheelers as well as incentives for electric threewhelle vehicles and commercial vehicles.

The purpose of the draft proposal is to promote the adoption of electric two-wheelers in Delhi, which will be given an incentive amount of 10 thousand per kWh (KWH), which will be a maximum of Rs 30,000 per vehicle. Apart from this, the registered owner who puts his petrol-powered two-wheeler in the junk, will also get an additional incentive of Rs 10,000, however, the old vehicle should not be more than 12 years old.

For electric auto-rickshaw in the L5M category, Delhi EV Policy 2.0 will be given an incentive Ramak of 10 thousand per KWH, which is likely to be up to 45 thousand. Those who scrapping ice based auto-rickshaws less than 12 years old are also likely to get scraping incentive of 20 thousand. It may be mandatory in the upcoming policy that all CNG auto-rickshaws completing 10 years of registration during the policy period should be replaced by electric autorickshaw. In such cases, a replacement incentive of 1 lakh per vehicle is likely to be provided, but after this other sales will not be found.
