Medicine price hike: As soon as the start of the new financial year in the country, inflation has also been hit on the public. The government has decided to increase the price of more than 900 essential medicines from April 1. That is, now you will have to pay a higher price for many medicines. According to the information, the Pharmaceuticals Pricing Authority (NPPA) has announced a 1.74 percent increase in prices of more than 900 medicines.

The special thing is that the drugs whose price has been increased, includes medicines for diseases like diabetes, heart disease, pen killer, critical infection, fever. The drugs that have been increased from April 1 include tablets like Agethromycin, Ibruprophone, Diclofenne, Metformin, Hydrochloride, Ayclovir.

Who can increase the price

According to the provisions of Drugs Order, 2013, all scheduled medicines are amended on the basis of wholesale Price Index (WPI) at the cost of all scheduled medicines. This amendment takes place every year. In the financial year 2024-25, the price of drugs on the basis of WPI was increased at a rate of 0.00551 percent.

Which medicines have become expensive?

• Azithromycin 250mg: 11.87 per Tablet
• Agethromycin 500mg: 23.98 per Tablet
• Dry syrup with amoxicillin and clavulanic acid: Rs 2.09 per ml
• Diclofenac (Pen Killer): 2.09 per tablet
• Ibuprofen (Painkiller) 200mg: 0.72 rupees per tablet
• Ibuprofen (Painkiller) 400mg: Rs 1.22 per tablet
• Diabeti
• Aciclovir (Antiviral) 200 Mg: Rs 7.74 per Tablet
• Aciclovir (Antiviral) 400 Mg: Rs 13.90 per tablet
• Hydroxychlorochwin
• Hydroxychlorochin (Antimleriel): 400mg: Rs 14.04 per tablet
