As the investigation into the car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort is progressing, the biggest question facing the security agencies is whether it was a suicide attack? This question has become even more complicated as three people were seen sitting in the car just before the explosion.

Why were questions raised on the fidayeen angle?
In the initial investigation, Delhi Police had found a Pulwama connection, which strengthened the possibility of a suicide attack. But CCTV footage, in which three people were seen leaving in a car, weakens this theory. According to a senior officer, ‘If there were three people in the car, the chances of all of them being suicide bombers are very less, usually in suicide attacks there are one or two attackers, not three.’

Was the car’s target something else?
Investigative agencies are also looking at the possibility that the car might have been taken to some other place, but an explosion occurred accidentally on the way. With the help of forensic evidence and dump data obtained from mobile networks, efforts are on to find out with whom the car riders were in contact and were they unaware of the real plan?

Explosion near Red Fort – coincidence or conspiracy?
The explosion took place near a famous and crowded place like the Red Fort, which has deepened the suspicion that the location may have been deliberately chosen. However, CCTV footage also revealed that the car went to the Red Fort parking lot, stopped for some time and then came out. The investigating agencies are seeing this as ‘Reiki’ or ‘hesitation’.

Did the explosion happen accidentally?
NIA sources say that it is also possible that the car occupants were handling the explosive and it was accidentally triggered. That means this attack was probably planned for somewhere else, but failed midway. At present, the role of three people sitting in the i20 car is the biggest mystery of this case. Investigating agencies are trying to clarify whether it was a planned suicide attack or a sudden explosion that occurred while the explosives were being transported.

So far 12 people have died in the blast that took place on November 10 near Red Fort metro station in Delhi. 25 people were injured in this blast. The shooting of Bollywood film ‘Cocktail 2’ was to begin in Delhi from 12th November. But due to bomb blasts and increasing pollution, this shooting has now been postponed. The shooting of Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna’s film was to continue in Delhi for a week.

Hindustan Times, quoting a source, wrote – ‘Shahid was to come to Delhi for shooting with Kriti and Rashmika from November 12. The makers had planned a big event in Delhi for seven days starting from November 12. It was told about postponing the shooting – air pollution is one of the reasons for this and then this decision has been taken due to the increased tension after the Delhi bomb blasts.

Shooting of ‘Cocktail 2’ may happen in Delhi in December
The report further reads- ‘The team had also planned a schedule in the Old Delhi area. Therefore, there are many reasons behind this decision. However, the Delhi schedule has not been cancelled, but has been postponed. If everything goes well then the makers are now thinking of shooting in December. At present the dates have not been decided. The makers will take a decision considering the situation at the end of this month.

About ‘Cocktail 2’
Let us tell you that ‘Cocktail 2’ is the sequel of the film Cocktail released in 2012. Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty were in lead roles in this film. On the other hand, on the Delhi incident, JDU National General Secretary Manish Verma said, “The entire country is shocked by the news of the car blasts in Delhi. The loss of lives of innocent civilians is a deep wound on humanity. We pay tribute to all the departed souls and express our deep condolences to the bereaved families. We pray to God to provide courage and peace to all the victim’s families and speedy recovery to the injured.”

Dawn further wrote that a few hours before the blast, 2,900 kg of explosive material was seized in Haryana, due to which a connection between the two incidents is suspected.

Pakistan Today described it as a serious terrorist attack in the most crowded areas of India and wrote that many vehicles were burnt due to the blast, while the fire department controlled the fire after an hour of effort.

Focus of investigation Faridabad and Pulwama connection

The investigating agencies have come to know that the Hyundai i20 car used in the blast came from Faridabad and is related to a person named Tariq of Pulwama. NIA and NSG teams have reached the spot and are investigating in every direction. Police have imposed sections of UAPA and Explosives Act in this case.

Strict security arrangements in the capital

Immediately after the blast, high alert has been issued in Mumbai, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal including Delhi. Additional security forces have been deployed in airports, metro stations, railway stations and major markets. Delhi Police has increased night checking on all borders so that suspicious vehicles and persons can be identified.

From the dump data, agencies can get clues about the phone numbers which are related to this car blast. Dump data of Red Fort parking and its surroundings is also being obtained.

The people sitting in the car in which the explosion took place must have communicated with each other in some way or the other. Therefore, parking phone data is being considered important. In Faridabad also, communication is being ascertained through dump data to find out how many people were in contact with each other.

Incident near gate number one of metro station

Actually this blast took place near Gate No. 1 of Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi. Initially information came that there had been an explosion in a parked car. However, later officials said that this car was not parked and was going somewhere. After receiving the information, fire engines, ambulances and senior police officers reached the spot. After the explosion, three-four vehicles caught fire and were damaged.

Eight deaths reported so far

Till the time of writing the news, eight people had been confirmed dead in this incident. It is believed that the number may also increase. Due to the explosion near gate number one of Red Fort metro station, many injured have been rushed to LNJP Hospital. Many people have been injured in the incident.
