News of a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion has come to light near an Assam Rifles convoy in the Sukhoi area of ​​Nagaland. According to initial information, one soldier has died in this explosion, while 4 other soldiers have been injured. This blast took place in Chumaukedima area of ​​Nagaland. This is the second time within a week that news of an IED explosion near an Assam Rifles convoy has come to light. After this incident, security has been increased in the entire area and a large-scale search operation is being conducted.

An Assam Rifles convoy was on routine patrol when a powerful IED planted on the roadside exploded. This incident took place in Chumaukedima area of ​​Nagaland, which is considered very sensitive from security point of view. After the blast, additional contingents of Assam Rifles, Nagaland Police and Army have been deployed in the area. Search operation is being conducted in Chumaukedima and surrounding forests. Immediately after the incident, all the injured soldiers were taken to the nearby medical center, where they are undergoing treatment. According to officials, the condition of the seriously injured soldier is being constantly monitored.

This incident has also become a matter of concern because it is said to be the second major attack targeting Assam Rifles in North-East India in less than a week. Earlier on July 6, suspected terrorists had ambushed an Assam Rifles convoy in Ukhrul district of Manipur. Two soldiers of the 40th battalion of Assam Rifles were martyred in that attack. After the attack, there was firing between the two sides for a long time, after which the security forces launched a massive search operation in the entire area.

The soldiers martyred in the Ukhrul attack were identified as Warrant Officer Balwant Singh and Rifleman CM Singh. Both were present in a vehicle of the convoy at that time. According to officials, he was seriously injured in the attack and later died during treatment.
