Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has once again made serious allegations of alleged irregularities in the voting process and voting list regarding the Haryana Assembly elections. He claimed in the press conference on Wednesday (5 November) that there are more than 25 lakh fake voters included in the voting list of Haryana, which directly raises questions on the fairness of the elections.

Rahul Gandhi said that an example of this irregularity is a Brazilian model, who allegedly voted 22 different times in Haryana. He raised questions as to how the name of this model came in the voter list and why the name of the same woman was registered at many different booths and places. Rahul Gandhi made these serious allegations

Rahul Gandhi said that there are a total of 2 crore voters in Haryana and out of these, about 12.5 percent were found to be fake voters. He said that the voting process was tampered by using fake photos and names, and that is why a conspiracy was hatched to convert the possible huge victory of Congress into defeat.

Apart from this, Rahul Gandhi alleged that many BJP leaders are voting in Haryana after voting in Uttar Pradesh. Giving specific examples, he said that Dalchand sits with the UP minister, is a sarpanch and his son Yashveer is also voting in Haryana. Along with this, he told that the names of the fathers of some fake voters were changed. Rahul said that he has solid evidence of this entire matter.

What did the Election Commission say?

However, Election Commission sources have responded to this allegation and said that Rahul Gandhi had earlier not raised any objection to the voter list of Haryana and till now no official complaint has been received against this list.

In the press conference, Rahul Gandhi especially appealed to the youth of the country and Gen Z voters to pay attention to this issue, as it is directly related to their future and democratic rights. What allegations did Aditya Thackeray make?

During this meeting, he alleged, ‘We are waiting for when the elections will be held, but the most important thing in this is vote theft. Vote theft means election theft. After the Lok Sabha elections, it seemed that the Mahavikas Aghadi government would come, but they stole the votes. Aditya Thackeray said that people used to tell him ‘there is a glitch in the EVM’, ‘there is a glitch in the VVPAT’, but now the irregularities have come to light in the voter list itself.

At the time of Lok Sabha elections, there were 2,52,970 voters in Worli Assembly constituency, which increased to 2,63,352 in the Assembly elections. That means there was an increase of 16,043 votes in just a few months. He said that 19,333 voters are doubtful in Worli area. The names of 502 voters are almost identical.

For example, the name of voter Girish Gajanan Mhatre’s father has been mentioned as Bhanji Patel. Apart from this, the gender of women voters like Gauri Gagan Gupta and Tejshree Hadkar has been described as ‘male’. The gender of a total of 643 voters has been wrongly recorded.

Mistakes in photos, addresses and dead voters

In Worli area, there are 4,177 voters who have no address, the home address of 67 voters has only ‘Jho Jho Jho’ written in them. He alleged that 38 voters are registered in a single room. Some voter cards do not have photographs. One card has only a picture of a nose.

Aditya Thackeray said this is not limited to Worli only. There are lakhs of such voters in Mumbai. Some voters are dead, but are still present in the list. Multiple people are shown at the same address on multiple cards. After these allegations of Aditya Thackeray, there has been an earthquake in the politics of Maharashtra.

On the fake voter case, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was reprimanded by the Election Commission, saying that he should submit a clear declaration and affidavit as per the rules or to apologize to the country for his false and misleading allegations. He said that at least one such voter was registered at two polling stations and he voted at both places.

The Congress leader, showing slides of some parts of the voter list, allegedly stated that the same voter has been registered many times, addresses are wrong. 80 people have been registered in a house with a room and voters of Mahadevpura are also registered in other states.

The Congress also staged a protest on the issue in Bengaluru on Friday (August 8, 2025). Some people expressed their inability to reach the link of voter list download for some time on Friday morning. After this, it started alleging that after Rahul’s claims, the Election Commission (EC) is tampering with the voter list. However, sources in the Election Commission have denied this.

Election Commission sources informally shared a picture of members of a particular family with journalists, who had voter ID cards in their hands. This family was included in Rahul’s fake voters’ list because pictures of its members were not seen in the copy of the voter list given to his party.

In a post on X, the Commission challenged Rahul Gandhi and said that he should take an oath for every fake voter and file a complaint under the voter registration rules or apologize to the country. The Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka has also asked the Congress to present the document in support of its memorandum on this dispute.
