World Bank on Iran War: No sooner has the world recovered from one crisis than another one emerges. The increasing tension of war around Iran has now created a crisis on the plate of the whole world. The World Bank has issued a very scary warning, according to which, due to this stress, about 45 million people around the world may reach the verge of starvation.

According to the World Bank’s ‘Food Crisis Alert’ report, if the war situation in and around Iran worsens, the global supply chain will completely collapse. The Strait of Hormuz located near Iran is one of the busiest sea routes in the world. Not only oil but also a large part of grains and fertilizers passes through here. If this route is affected then the prices of food items will start touching the sky.

Also read- Biofuel: How a decision of Indonesia increased the worries of the Indian middle class, the inflation bomb will explode

Which countries will be worst affected?

In the report, experts said that its worst impact will be on those poor and developing countries which are already facing the brunt of inflation and climate change. There is a danger of malnutrition and social instability increasing due to food shortage and rising prices. The World Bank has made it clear that if the war drags on, global food security will go back decades.

The World Bank has especially warned about the ‘energy-food link’. It has been said in the report that if the prices of crude oil increases due to Iran War, it will have a direct impact on the cost of farming. Natural gas is required to make fertilizer and diesel is required to harvest and transport crops. When energy is expensive, it becomes difficult for farmers to farm, which can reduce global grain production.

Also read- RBI gave good news, the tension of paying the bill is over, new rule has come on credit card, now penalty will not be imposed!

That is why the World Bank has seen it not just as a regional tension, but as a ‘global commodity shock’, which can shake both developed and developing economies.

Why do prices of everything increase?

War is not fought only on the borders, its echo reaches the kitchen of the common man. Due to rise in oil prices, the cost of farming and transportation increases, due to which everything becomes expensive. The international community is currently under immense pressure to prevent this potential humanitarian disaster.

Iran War Impact on Indian Economy: The impact of the Iran-America-Israel war has now directly reached the farmers of India. In March 2026, the production of fertilizer and urea in the country has fallen by 24.6 percent as compared to a year ago i.e. March 2025, which means about one-fourth less fertilizer was produced. This data has been released by the Commerce Ministry of the Central Government.

Urea production started decreasing due to rust

Fertilizer production has fallen by 24.6 percent in March 2026 as compared to March 2025, that is, about one fourth less fertilizer was produced. Natural gas is required to make urea. This gas largely comes from the Middle East i.e. Gulf countries, but due to the Iran war, the movement in Hormuz i.e. the sea route through which Gulf oil and gas goes around the world, almost came to a standstill. About one-third of the world’s fertilizer passes through this route. If the road was closed then gas did not come and if gas did not come then urea could not be made.

Now the Kharif season i.e. the time for sowing of paddy, maize and soybean is about to come. Urea is needed the most in this season. More than 45 percent of the country’s population is dependent on agriculture. If there is less urea, then either the farmer will have to buy fertilizer at an expensive price or the crop will be less. In both the circumstances, the farmer is at a loss.

Not only fertilizers but other sectors also faltered

Crude oil production has decreased by 5.7 percent. Coal has come down by 4 percent. Electricity production also decreased by 0.5 percent. Less coal means less electricity, this is a direct connection. Domestic production of natural gas increased by 6.4 percent, this has brought some relief. Steel i.e. iron and steel production has increased by 2.2 percent. Cement remained above 4 percent as construction work on roads and houses continued in the country.

The combined index of eight major industries fell by 0.4 percent in March 2026. It increased by only 2.6 percent in the entire financial year 2025-26, which is much less than in the last several years. Now that the Strait of Hormuz is still closed, the figures for April and May may be worse. The government will have to arrange for alternative supply of urea as soon as possible, otherwise both farmers and inflation can become a problem.

Condition of 8 big sectors of India amid Iran war

Coal – 4% fall – impact on supply of imported coal due to disruption in shipping routes.

Fertilizer – 24.6% fall – the biggest shock. Production halted due to stoppage of supply of urea and phosphate from Iran

Crude oil – fell 5.7% – tension on Hormuz affected crude oil supply to domestic refineries

Electricity — decreased by 0.5% – Coal shortage and expensive LNG depressed electricity production slightly.

Natural Gas – increased by 6.4% – Domestic production gave relief but LNG imports became expensive.

Refinery products – increased by only 0.1%. Despite the war, the refineries somehow kept running, a big relief.

Steel – increased by 2.2% – domestic demand remained strong, direct impact of war less.

Cement – increased by 4% – infra project continued, demand remained in the market.

Parwal Cultivation Tips: In today’s time, Parwal cultivation is no less than a lottery for those farmers. Those who want to achieve big success with less hard work and small investment. Often we remain stuck in traditional crops. But Parwal is such a cash crop that its demand always remains in the markets. Its biggest quality is that once the vine is planted properly.

So it keeps giving fruits continuously for many months. Parwal prices remain very good from summer to rainy season, due to which farmers get cash in their pockets every day. If you also want to move away from your old farming pattern and do something that will keep you earning throughout the year, then Parwal farming can prove to be the best option for you.

Cultivate Parwal in this manner

The biggest secret of success in Parwal cultivation is the selection of the right variety and the way to support it. If you use hybrid and improved seeds instead of indigenous varieties, then both the shine and size of the fruits are excellent. Scaffolding method i.e. preparing wire-bamboo structure is most beneficial for farming. Due to this, the vines spread in the air instead of rotting on the ground, which reduces the attack of insects and also makes it much easier to harvest the fruits.

The quality of Parwal grown on scaffolding is much better than the ground crop.

Planting plants at the right distance provides them with adequate sunlight and air, which is necessary for better yields.

Farming done in this manner is not only safe. In fact, its price is also higher than others in the market.

Also read: Lemon gardening will brighten your luck, gets ready in a short time and provides profit worth lakhs for 15 years

way to prevent diseases

To make Parwal vine strong, it is very important to give proper fertilizer from time to time. Instead of running after chemical fertilizers, if farmers use rotten cow dung manure and neem cake, then both the health of the crop and the fertility of the soil are maintained. Spraying organic pesticides is a wise step to protect against the fungus and pests that commonly occur in Parwal. This also reduces your costs and the fruits are also good for the health of those who eat them.

Take special care of irrigation, because too much water can rot the vines and less water can dry up the fruits.

Keep removing unnecessary bushes and weeds from time to time so that all the nutrition gets available only to your crop.

Only daily monitoring of the crop can save you from huge losses and lead to bumper profits. Therefore it is important to take care of this.

This much can be earned in one season

To become rich from Parwal farming, you will have to know the pulse of the market. When the season starts or it is the time of weddings, the prices of parwal skyrocket. Farmers can save commission on middlemen by delivering their crops directly to local markets or wholesalers in big cities. Since Parwal can be plucked and kept fresh for two-three days, there is less risk in sending it to distant markets.

If you grow other vine vegetables along with parwal, then the scope of your earning increases further.

The crops that reach the market with clean and good packaging are bought by traders at high prices.

Overall, Parwal farming is such a combination of hard work and wisdom that it has the power to make any small farmer a millionaire.

Also read: Farmer brothers should cultivate cashew in this way, they will earn lakhs.

Urea Shortage: The direct impact of the ongoing war between America, Israel and Iran is now reaching the fields of India. After the crisis over the supply of fertilizer deepened, the Government of India has come into active mode and has prepared a master plan to maintain the availability of urea. According to the information, the Government of India has even floated a global tender to purchase 25 lakh metric tons of urea.

Let us tell you, India is the world’s largest urea importer. About 50 per cent of India’s urea and DAP-diammonium phosphate imports come from the Middle East, with Saudi Arabia the largest DAP supplier and Oman the largest urea supplier. This supply chain has been directly affected due to the Iran war.

Urea and DAP- backbone of farming

Urea is the fertilizer that provides nitrogen to the crop, that is, the power for the plant to grow rapidly. Immediately after sowing, farmers put it in the field so that the roots become strong and the yield is good. Urea is the first requirement in almost every crop like paddy, wheat, maize, sugarcane. At the same time, DAP i.e. diammonium phosphate contains phosphorus along with nitrogen which helps the seeds to germinate and the roots to develop. That is why DAP is mixed in the soil before sowing. Urea and DAP together are the backbone of Indian farming.

Big tender issued by the government

Government company Indian Potash Limited – IPL issued the tender on Saturday. There is a plan to import 15 lakh tonnes of urea from the west coast and 10 lakh tonnes from the east coast. Bids are to be submitted by April 15 and shipment should be dispatched by June 14. This tender is also important because with the onset of monsoon in June, sowing of paddy, maize and soybean starts and at that time the demand for urea increases suddenly.

India currently has enough stock

Aparna Sharma, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, told in the media briefing that India currently has sufficient stock. About 39 million metric tons of fertilizer will be required for the summer crop season and currently the stock is around 18 million tons which was 14.7 million tons last year. According to the ministry, Indian companies have signed long-term deals with countries like Russia, Morocco, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Jordan, Canada, Algeria, Egypt and Togo. The supply of 28 lakh tonnes from Russia will come through the Cape of Good Hope route. In February also, a global tender was floated for 13 lakh tonnes of urea.

domestic production also less

Another matter of concern is that the monthly production of urea in India is currently 18 lakh tonnes whereas normally it is 24 lakh tonnes. Some plants are just restarting after annual maintenance. Apart from this, India fulfills about 50% of its LNG requirement from the Middle East and LNG is an important raw material for making urea.

The livelihood of crores of families in the country depends on agriculture. Among them, there are a large number of farmers who do farming on a small scale or earn their living by working as sharecroppers on the land of others. Government schemes prove to be a big relief for these families amidst limited income and increasing expenses. One such scheme is Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, under which financial assistance is given to eligible farmers every year. Under the scheme, Rs 6,000 is transferred directly to the bank account of farmers annually in three equal installments. Till now 21 installments have been released and crores of farmers have taken advantage of it. But every time a question arises whether those farmers who cultivate others’ land or work in the fields also get this money. In such a situation, let us now tell you whether farmers working in other’s fields also get money from Kisan Nidhi and what are its rules?

What is the eligibility for the scheme?

The most important condition of the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is related to land ownership. The government identifies beneficiaries on the basis of revenue records. That is, the farmer in whose name cultivable land is registered is considered eligible for this scheme. If a farmer does share farming and the land is not in his name, then under the current rules he will not get the benefit of Kisan Samman Nidhi. Even if he is farming diligently, the ownership of the land is not registered in his name. Till then he does not come under the scope of the scheme.

What is the condition of sharecroppers?

There are a large number of farmers in rural areas who grow crops on the land of others and in return give a part of the produce to the land owner. In common parlance, they are called sharecroppers. Although he does the farming work, the land documents are not in his name. This is the reason why they are not considered directly eligible for this scheme. However, if a sharecropper has even a small amount of land registered in his name, then he can avail the benefits of the scheme on the basis of his land. But completely landless farmers are not included in this scheme.

Which farmers get the benefit?

The benefit of this scheme is available to those people in whose name cultivable land is registered in the revenue records, small and marginal farmers, families whose main source of income is farming, whose bank account is linked to Aadhaar and e-KYC is completed, they will get the benefit of this scheme. The government’s process is completely record based. Therefore, it is necessary to complete formalities like transfer of land, land verification and e-KYC. At the same time, it is often claimed on social media that there is going to be a change in the rules or that sharecroppers will also be included. But no such change has been officially announced yet.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is continuously attacking the Modi government regarding the India-US trade deal. He says that this deal will cause great loss to Indian farmers, especially cotton farmers. Apart from this, the textile traders of India will also have to suffer losses.

Rahul Gandhi posted on Twitter on Saturday (February 14) that 18% tariff vs 0%, let me explain how the Prime Minister and his cabinet, who are expert in lying, are spreading confusion on this and how they are cheating the country’s cotton farmers and textile exporters with the India-US trade agreement. Bangladesh is being given the benefit of 0% tariff on garment exports to America, the only condition is that it imports American cotton.

Rahul Gandhi raised questions
Raising questions about the deal, the Congress leader said that after the announcement of 18% tariff on Indian garments, when I raised a question in the Parliament about the special concession being given to Bangladesh, then the minister of Modi government replied that if we also want the same benefit, then we will have to import cotton from America. After all, why was this thing hidden from the country till then? And what kind of policy is this? Is this really an option or is it a trap leading to a well in the front and a ditch in the back?

18% Tariff vs 0% – Let me explain, how the Prime Minister and his cabinet, who are experts in lying, are spreading confusion on this. And, how they are cheating the country’s cotton farmers and textile exporters with the India-US trade agreement.

Our farmers will be ruined- Rahul Gandhi
Rahul Gandhi said that if we import American cotton, our own farmers will be ruined. If we don’t order it, our textile industry will lag behind and get destroyed. And now Bangladesh is indicating that it may also reduce or stop cotton imports from India. Textile industry and cotton cultivation are the backbone of livelihood in India. The livelihood of crores of people depends on these. An injury to these areas means pushing millions of families into the abyss of unemployment and economic crisis.

Regarding the US-India trade deal, Rahul Gandhi said that a far-sighted and nationally-minded government would have made a deal that would protect the interests and ensure prosperity of both cotton farmers and textile exporters, but on the contrary, Narendra “Surrender” Modi and his ministers have made such an agreement which can prove to be a deep injury to both the sectors.

A new debate has started on India-US interim trade deal. A few days after the deal, the White House released a fact sheet on February 9, which mentioned “certain pulses” for the first time. Pulses were not included in the joint statement of 6 February, which makes this update important. Experts believe that this is a sign of opening of India’s agriculture market in a limited and controlled manner. Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has made it clear that all pulses and many farm items will not be imported, so that farmers remain safe. On the other hand, US has promised duty cuts on Indian exports. The purpose of the deal is both trade balance and farmer protection.

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has clarified that the recent trade deal will not harm the interests of Indian farmers. He said that while negotiating the agreement, agriculture sector has been given top priority. Tariff protection and safeguard mechanisms have been maintained on sensitive farm products. The focus of the government is that farmers should get fair prices and there should not be undue pressure on domestic markets. According to Piyush Goyal, the objective of trade deals is not only to increase exports but also to strengthen the rural economy. He also said that India will not compromise with the long-term interests of its farmers in any deal.

He said that this trade deal is expected to boost the export of American agricultural products to the Indian market.

What did the US Agriculture Secretary say?
US Agriculture Secretary Brook Rollins said that rising prices will increase cash flow in rural America. He wrote on Twitter that the new US-India agreement will increase the export of American agricultural products to the huge market of India. He further said that America’s agricultural trade deficit with India in 2024 was $1.3 billion. India’s growing population is an important market for American agricultural products and today’s agreement will go a long way in reducing this deficit.

He shared a post from the White House, which announced that US President Donald Trump spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, during which the PM agreed to stop buying Russian oil and increase oil purchases from the US, which will probably also include Venezuela. Trump said that this will help end the war in Ukraine.

India’s stand on agricultural products
Regarding agricultural products, high level sources say that there will be no compromise on Indian agricultural products regarding the India-America trade deal. The government remains firm on its stand regarding agricultural products. There will be no compromise on agriculture and dairy. Indian interests in agriculture and dairy were there earlier, are still there and will continue to be so. Modi government will not compromise with the interests of Indian farmers.

Under this trade agreement, the tariff on Indian goods will be reduced from 25 percent to 18 percent. Trump said that this agreement has come into effect with immediate effect. He further said that out of friendship and respect for Prime Minister Modi and with immediate effect at his request, we have agreed to a trade agreement between the United States and India, under which the United States will impose lower tariffs.

What did PM Modi say
Soon after, Prime Minister Modi welcomed this development and said, “It was great to talk to my dear friend President Trump today. I am happy that now the tariff on ‘Made in India’ products will be reduced to 18 percent. On behalf of the people of India, many thanks to President Trump for this wonderful announcement.”

Emphasizing the broader significance of the agreement, the Prime Minister said, “When two major economies and the world’s largest democracies work together, it benefits the people and opens up many opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation. I look forward to working closely with them to take our partnership to unprecedented heights.”
