India’s Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has made a big announcement regarding the tolls on the roads across the country. Sharing a post, he has said that Fastag based annual pass is being started from 15 August 2025 to Rs 3,000. Let’s know what will happen to this and will it affect people’s jobs too?

According to reports, the Government of India is going to launch a new annual Fastag pass scheme from 15 August 2025. This pass in 3,000 will be valid for one year or 200 trips (whichever is first). This facility will be provided especially for non-commercial private vehicles like cars, jeeps and vans.

Through this pass, there will be no problem of repeated tolls to the drivers and they will be able to travel without interruption on national highways across the country. The government says that this policy will not only improve the experience of the passengers, but will also eliminate the crowds, long queues, and disputes on the toll plaza.

Where and how will the activation be?

Soon a separate link will be released on the website of highway travel app, NHAI and MRTH.

But what about toll plaza employees?

While this scheme is going to give relief to millions of passengers on the one hand, on the other hand, concern has increased about the future of thousands of employees working on the toll plaza. Till now, staff was needed to take cash, receipt and resolve the dispute at the toll plaza. But after the fasting and now this annual pass, the need of toll workers is becoming less.

Some experts believe that this type of facility may also come for other vehicles. This can reduce the number of staff in toll operator companies, which can affect jobs. Apart from this, people who were working by recharging in fastags or who were seen around the canopy toll plaza, such people can also be affected. However, no clear statement has come in this subject.

This new system of Fastag Annual Pass will help users to make toll payments easier from the same transaction for the whole year. This policy will also remove the problems of the long -standing people on repaying the toll repeatedly during a short distance journey. The purpose of this pass is to reduce toll complaints, especially for passengers living near the toll plaza located within a radius of 60 km.

How to get Fastag Pass?

Fastag Pass can be taken from the official website of highway travel mobile application and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH). A separate link will be introduced for activation and renewal before launch.
