Shubman Gill has become the fastest batsman for India to complete 3 thousand runs in ODI cricket. He achieved this feat in the 61st innings. Gill left former Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan behind in this matter. Dhawan had achieved this milestone in the 72nd innings.

Talking about world cricket, Shubman Gill is at second place in terms of scoring the fastest 3,000 runs in ODI. He touched the figure of three thousand runs in the 61st innings. Whereas former South African batsman Hashim Amla is at number one in this record list. Amla had completed 3 thousand runs in the 57th innings of ODI.

Captain Shubman Gill played match winning innings for India

The first ODI between India and Afghanistan was played for 25 overs each due to rain. Afghanistan scored 194 runs after playing first. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave a steady start to the Indian team chasing the target of 195 runs. Rohit was run out after scoring 16 runs. After this, captain Shubman Gill along with Ishan Kishan made an important partnership of 70 runs in just 43 balls for the second wicket.

Ishaan was out after scoring 34 runs in 22 balls with the help of 3 fours and a six. However, Gill stood firm at one end and returned after leading the team to victory. He scored unbeaten 84 runs with the help of 11 fours and 2 sixes in his innings of 66 balls. Whereas, KL Rahul remained unbeaten after scoring 39 runs in 19 balls.
