They are being introduced on social media like a superfood. One of the most talked about claims about them is that they can &#8220;detox&#8221; the liver, especially if you have a problem of fatty liver. In such a situation, the question arises that can only one tablespoon of chia seeds really clear your liver?</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>What is fatty liver and how does it happen?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Fatty liver is called hepatic status in medical term. This problem occurs when there is excess fat in the liver cells. It can be caused by excessive intake of alcohol (alcoholic fatty liver) or poor food and low physical activity (non-alcoholic fatty liver or NAFLD). Initially there are no specific symptoms, but later it can cause fatigue, liver swelling and even cirrhosis.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">To deal with this problem, doctors first recommend changing lifestyle. These include weight loss, exercise, distance from sugar and fast food, etc.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Chia seeds may be small in size, but they are rich in nutrition. These include fiber, omega-3 fatty acids (especially Ala), antioxidants and plant-based protein. All these elements are beneficial for the whole health of our body, but there are some which help to improve the health of liver.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">There have been some good results in scientific research regarding Chia seeds, but they are not completely decisive till now. In a 2014 report, it was seen that when chia seeds were given to high-fat diet mice, their liver fat decreased. In some reports on humans, it was also seen that Chia seeds reduced abdominal fat, reduced triglycerides and improved insulin resistance. However, there is no major scientific evidence so far, which proves that only fatty liver can be completely cured with chia seeds. Its benefit is mostly through weight loss, reducing inflammation and improving metabolism.</p>
