Gold prices once again remain close to record high. Safe-haven demand may have weakened a bit, but global uncertainty and the expectation of a rate cut by the US Federal Reserve are giving strong support to gold. On January 16, 2026, there was a slight rise in gold and it was seen trading at ₹ 1,43,135 per 10 grams on MCX around 4 pm. Silver also remained strong at around ₹ 2,92,162 per kg. According to experts, sentiment in the domestic market is strong. The weakness of Rupee and USD/INR being around 90.40 is giving extra push to gold. Buyers being active on the dip is a bullish sign. If sustained above ₹1,43,000, levels of ₹1,46,000–₹1,50,000 may be seen in the short term.
