A petition was filed in the Delhi High Court on behalf of Maulana Arshad Madni, President of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind Maulana Arshad Madni to stop the exhibition of Hindi film ‘Udaipur Files’. The court has filed an appeal before the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Monday (July 14, 2025), as per the instructions of the court to stop the exhibition (stay) on the exhibition and to file an appeal for reconsideration of the certificate issued by the Censor Board.

There is a possibility that the ministry may hear this petition in the coming days. Meanwhile, the filmmaker has challenged the order of the Delhi High Court in the Supreme Court of India. Today, Justice Suryakant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi have confirmed the hearing on the appeal made by senior advocate Gaurav Bhatia of the filmmaker.

Promotion can be given to hatred and division in society

A petition was filed in the Supreme Court on Sunday (July 13, 2025) on behalf of Maulana Arshad Madani, that is, the arguments of Maulana Arshad Madani’s counsel, senior advocate Kapil Sibal will also be heard during the hearing in the Supreme Court. The petition filed by Maulana Madani in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting states that films like ‘Udaipur Files’ promotes hatred and division in the society and its publicity can tarnish the image of India at the international level.

It is further written in the petition that our country has been a symbol of Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb for centuries, where Hindus and Muslims have lived together. Such films can pose a serious threat to the communal unity of the country. This film is completely based on hatred and its exhibition can affect peace in the country.

India’s infamy with Nupur Sharma’s dispute

The petition said that the government has also been reminded that India has already been very bad due to the controversial statement of Nupur Sharma, due to which the Indian government had to issue clarification at the diplomatic level that India respects all religions and communities. Also, Nupur Sharma had to be removed from the post of BJP spokesperson after his statement. Due to these reasons, India’s international image was partially improved.

Ban on release continues

It has also been said in the petition that the film’s producer Amit Jani’s past and present is full of inflammatory activities. Many imaginary things have been shown in the film, which have no relation with reality. The controversy related to Nupur Sharma is also depicted in the film, due to which there were protests across the country and voices were also raised abroad.

It has also been said in the petition that despite removing 55 scenes from the censor board, the form of the film remains the same and its publicity activities can cause violence in the country. The film is not in the national interest, so the sensor certificate provided by it should be canceled. According to the instructions of the Delhi High Court, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will have to hear the petition of Maulana Arshad Madani within a week and take a decision. Meanwhile, the ban on the release of the film will continue.

Also read:- ‘It is not wrong to secretly record the call of the partner and present it in the court’, why did the Supreme Court say this in the case of divorce

The High Court has imposed an interim stay on the release of Udaipur files film. On this order of the court, the response of Maulana Arshad Madni, President of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, who filed a petition against the film, has come out. Madani welcomed the court proceedings on Thursday (July 10) and expressed satisfaction.

He said, “We were waiting for the final decision, but the result that came out after a day -long hearing shows that despite the removal of objectionable scenes, the film still has a scene that can spread the poison of hate in our society.” Maulana Madani further said, “Stay and other court orders at the screening of the film have strengthened the supremacy of the Constitution. It also gives a clear message that no person can violate constitutional and moral boundaries in the name of freedom of art and expression.”

‘Under the guise of the film, the whole community was put in the dock’
He said that some more objectionable films have also been made in recent years, but she was not so disgusting. In this film, an entire community has been put in the dock under the guise of a murder incident, as if they are criminals. That is why we decided to take this matter to court. We are happy that our efforts have been successful, and we are confident that the final decision will also be in our favor. This decision is not just a ban on the film, but a ban on the intentions and agenda of communal elements. “

Arshad Madani also said, “Our lawyers, especially one of the most prestigious lawyers in the country, successfully told the court how dangerous this film can be for the country’s pluralistic society.”

‘Nazir for other manufacturers’
Maulana Madani further said, “The decision taken about this film will also be considered a vision for the future and other filmmakers will also get a big lesson who try to harm the peace, unity and communal harmony of the country by making such films with the nefarious intention to please the frequency forces.”

A significant hearing was held in the Delhi High Court on the petition of Maulana Arshad Madni on behalf of Jamiat Ulema Hind regarding the film Udaipur files. In the petition filed in the High Court, the petitioner has demanded a ban on the release of Udaipur files film. On behalf of the Censor Board, the court was told that the producer was asked to remove some controversial dialogues and scenes from the film Udaipur files.

 What did the film producer say in Delhi High Court? & Nbsp;

The court was told by the film producer in the Delhi High Court that those disputed scenes/dialogues suggested by the censor board have been removed. Delhi HC asked the producer of the film to organize the screening of this film and its trailer today. In this case, the petitioner Jamiat’s lawyer Kapil Sibal and the lawyer associated with the rest of the case see the film. The lawyers should decide whether they are satisfied with the removal of the controversial excerpts of the film. The petitioner’s counsel will again make Delhi HC aware of his opinion about this. Delhi High Court will hear again tomorrow.

 The film based on the murder of tailor Kanhaiyalal in Udaipur in the year 2022 & nbsp;

The petitioner has demanded that the court cancel the CBFC certification and immediately stop the release of the film. The film is allegedly based on the murder of Kanhaiyalal, a tailor in Udaipur in 2022. But the petitioner says that in this, the court proceedings have been reiterated by a biased statement of a Chief Minister and the controversial statement given by Nupur Sharma.

It has been said in the petition that the same statement was the cause of violence and tension in the country earlier and now an attempt is being made to revive communal sentiments by repeating the same things in the film. In the court filed in the court, the petitioner claims that the trailer of the film presents the Muslim community unilaterally and negatively. Which violates the dignity of the community and the right to live.

 The film mentions the case of knowledgeable case

In the trailer, alleged religious leaders are shown in objectionable relations with minor children, which is not a very objectionable and appropriate scene. According to the petitioner, the issue has also been waged in the film which is currently pending in Varanasi’s District Court and Supreme Court."Text-Align: justify;"> The petitioner said that showing such disputed issues as a film has been attempted to influence the justice process and to spoil religious harmony. The petition filed in the court also states that freedom of expression cannot be used in this way.
