Nowadays, our lives have become so busy and noisy that it has become very difficult to concentrate on one place. There are constantly things happening around us that distract us from our focus. Phone notifications, repeated tones of group chats, planning for the evening meal at home, calls on the go and many other small problems. In such a situation, it is not surprising that maintaining focus or completely concentrating on any work has become a challenge, but there is no need to worry, because experts say that by adopting the right method and changing some habits, we can improve our focus and concentrate completely on the work.

1. Create a distraction free environment – First of all, it is important to make your work space suitable for focus. Some people are able to focus only in complete silence and for them a clean and organized space is necessary. At the same time, some people also work by playing background music or watching light TV. Some people also get the right headspace by keeping pictures of loved ones or an idol of God on their desk. Meaning every person’s method is different. Once you know what kind of environment you like and what distracts you, prepare your space accordingly.

2. Practice meditation – Meditation i.e. the habit of focusing is the easiest and most effective way to increase focus. Meditating for a few minutes a day calms your mind and makes it easier to focus on one place. According to New York psychotherapist Dorley Michaeli, it increases our focus ability by reducing stress and helps us come back from distractions quickly.

3. Physical activity is necessary – If the body is not active then it becomes difficult for the mind to focus. Light exercise, jogging, or doing some stretching in short breaks increases your focus. According to a report published in Translational Sports Medicine, regular exercise improves memory and ability to focus.

4. Schedule your work at the right time – Everyone’s energy and focus power is different. Some people are most focused in the morning, while others are most focused in the evening or at night, so important tasks should be done at the time when you are most alert and focused.

Read this also – Do not ignore pregnancy diabetes, it may affect the health of the child.

5. Divide the work into small parts – Dividing large projects or tasks into smaller parts helps maintain focus. It is easy to complete every part of the work according to the list and plan and your mind also remains engaged in the work.

6. Take short breaks – Working continuously for long hours makes the brain tired. Experts suggest taking a short break of 15-20 minutes after 90 minutes of work. During this time, light tea, walking or light entertainment refreshes the mind and you become focused again.

7. Adopt yoga, mantra and balance diet – Yoga, mantra chanting and proper nutrition also help in increasing focus. Yoga and Pranayam helps in focusing on breath and body, chanting mantra provides mental peace and eating right helps in maintaining energy.

8.When needed, seek doctor’s help – If you repeatedly lose focus, get angry, have negative thoughts or suddenly feel nervous, it could be due to mental or physical reasons. In such a situation, it is important to consult a senior psychiatrist or doctor. They can help through counseling and medication.

Nowadays fasting is not limited to just religious tradition. Many people are adopting intermittent fasting or restricted eating from time to time to lose weight, control sugar and stay fit. But have you ever thought that staying on an empty stomach also affects our brain? In recent years, scientists and neurologists have found that fasting done correctly and for a limited period of time can also be beneficial for the brain. This is not just limited to reducing body fat, but can also affect brain function, memory and mental clarity. However, it is important to understand that fasting is not safe for everyone and it should be adopted only after careful consideration. So let us know whether the brain really works better on an empty stomach. What are the mental effects and benefits of fasting?

Does the brain really work better on an empty stomach?

When we do not eat anything for about 12 to 16 hours, the glycogen stored in the body starts getting depleted. After this the body starts burning fat for energy. In this process ketone bodies are formed. One of the main ketones, beta-hydroxybutyrate, is considered a good fuel for the brain. It not only provides energy, but also helps in keeping the brain cells active and strong. This change is called metabolic switch. When the brain starts getting energy from ketones instead of glucose, many people experience mental clarity, better focus and less fatigue.

Also read – Signs Of Dehydration: Waiting to feel thirsty can be difficult! The body is giving these ‘silent’ signals

What are the mental effects and benefits of fasting?

1. Helpful in brain growth: A major benefit of fasting is that it can increase the level of a protein called BDNF. BDNF helps form new brain cells, protect old cells, improve learning and memory, and helps the brain deal with stress. BDNF works like fertilizer for the brain, which helps in its growth and strength.

2. Brain Cleaning Process: During fasting, a special process is activated in the body, which is called autophagy. It means self-cleansing. During this time the cells start removing the bad and damaged proteins stored inside them. This process is considered particularly important for brain health, as abnormal protein accumulation is seen in some neurodegenerative diseases (such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s). Although larger studies in humans are still needed, early research suggests that autophagy may help protect the brain in the long term.

3. Clean and Stable Energy: When the brain takes energy from ketones, it produces less oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is a condition that is associated with aging and mental weakness. The energy provided by ketones is more stable and can reduce sudden fatigue. Can help in reducing brain fog. For this reason, some people feel more focused and clear thinking during fasting.

4. Metabolic Health and Brain: Many studies related to time-restricted eating have found that it improves insulin sensitivity, reduces inflammation in the body, and increases metabolic flexibility. Sugar and metabolic disturbances are also linked to brain decline, so these changes may indirectly benefit brain health.

Keep these things in mind

Fasting is not safe for every person, especially diabetic patients, people suffering from eating disorders, pregnant and breastfeeding women, elderly and weak people, people who take sugar-lowering medicines. Such people must consult a doctor before starting fasting. Additionally, larger scientific studies are needed to confirm long-term brain effects.

Whenever children study, parents motivate them by telling them to reduce their sleep and work harder until they achieve their goal, so that they can be successful in the future. There is even a saying in India that ‘what is sowat is khowat, what is the world is pawat’. This means that a lazy person loses opportunities whereas a hardworking person becomes successful.

However, in Indian homes this proverb is linked to sleep, so that children sleep less and concentrate more on their studies. Many researches and reports believe that good sleep of children or students makes them more efficient in studies and their memory also remains healthy. That is why many big and prominent neuroscientists have called sleep the “hidden superpower of students”.

MIT study: Real benefits of sleep during exams

A study by MIT (which was published in npj Science of Learning) revealed a surprising thing that if a student takes good and proper sleep during his exam, then that student is not wasting his time but good sleep will help that student to focus on studies. Research has shown that studying one night before an exam or a long sleep is not as useful for students as good sleep for the whole month.

Singapore study: good sleep and mental health

In a research published in Frontiers in Psychology, a study was conducted on Singapore students, in which it was found that students who get good sleep have better mental development. In those students, there is much less anxiety regarding studies, the mood remains stable and the mind remains calm. It is natural that if the mental health of a student is better then his performance in studies will also improve. If a student does not get good quality sleep, his mental health remains poor, making it difficult to perform better in studies.

Body clock and the role of circadian preference

According to a research, the better performance of a student also depends on whether the student wakes up early in the morning to work or works better by staying awake at night. This is called the natural body clock or circadian preference. When a student has to study or attend classes at a time that does not match his nature, his brain does not function properly and hence his performance falls.

Carnegie Mellon report: Less gold loss

According to a study by Carnegie Mellon University, if a student sleeps less than 6 hours to improve his studies and perform well in the exam, then a “Sleep Debt” starts accumulating in his brain, due to which it becomes very difficult to perform better in studies and give his 100 percent in any work. The student’s concentration in studies, his memory and thinking ability all begin to weaken.

Power Nap: Instant Energy for the Brain

It has been proved in many researches that if a student takes a power nap in between his long hours of study, then the brain gets instant energy. This freshens the mood, increases creative thinking and increases focus in subjects like mathematics and science. Apart from this, memory becomes stronger. Therefore, taking a power nap of half an hour in between studies is necessary for the better performance of the student.

Dementia: As our age increases, our brain also starts to weaken. With aging, memory, focus and ability to solve problems are affected. It is considered a natural process of aging, but due to wrong lifestyle, our brain can become old before time.

Experts warns that lack of sleep can also increase the risk of serious diseases like dementia in the long run. In such a situation, today we tell you how our brain is getting old before time.

Lack of sleep is the biggest reason

A recent research has revealed that lack of sleep is the main reason for the brain being old before the time. Actually, sleep gives the brain an opportunity to protect and repair. Not taking enough and good amount of sleep increases chronic inflammation in the body, which directly affects the brain cells i.e. neurons. At the same time, poor sleep for a long time damages the brain cells and the brain gets old quickly.

What came up in research

In the research conducted on the old age of the brain, more than 27,000 people were examined and the age of the brain was estimated through their brain scans. In this research, people who neither get less sleep and do not sleep, their mind was found to be about 0.6 years older than their real age. At the same time, such people who never sleep completely, their brain was found to be 1 year older than their real age. Apart from this, the researchers also prepared a sleep score. Due to the decline of every digit in this score, the brain age increases by about half a year.

Experts advice

Regarding this research, experts say that taking good and regular sleep is the most effective way to keep the mind young. If the problem of sleep is ignored, then it can increase the risk of serious mental illnesses in future. Apart from this, experts tell that to get good sleep, make a habit of sleeping and waking up at the same time daily. At the same time, reduce the use of mobile, TV and laptop at least 1 hour before sleeping and avoid eating or drinking caffeine -rich things at night. Apart from this, do mild exercise yoga or meditation to reduce the fatigue and stress of the day.

Our everyday habits and BG lifestyle often inadvertently affect our brain’s ability. The increasing demand for continuous work, screen time and life makes our mind over stimulated. For this reason, taking a break from digital devices and telling time in peace is no longer an option, but it is being considered necessary for our health. It is not only beneficial for mental health but also improves focus and your work balance. Some experts also tell about these everyday habits, which is reduced to your brain. Along with this, they also show measures to strengthen the mind.

Daily life habits, which weaken the brain

lack of sleep: Not getting deep sleep daily, the toxins stored in the brain are not cleaned and this affects our ability to think and focus.

Long -term sitting: Sitting for a long time continuously reduces blood circulation in the brain, which affects the ability to work.

Repeated multi-tasking- Switching from one work to another continuously affects the focus and the ability to remember.

Poor diet: Consuming more processed food and sugar can harm our brain cells.

Prolonged stress: Constant stress increases cortisol hormones, which damage the hippocampus and affects sleep.

Drinking less water: People often reduce drinking water in busy lifestyle, which can affect blood circulation in our brain.

How to improve the brain affecting brain?

Stay organized: You can use a daily planner to correct your health. This will give your ability to think and will also help in remembering the important tasks.

Get enough sleep: You must get 6 to 8 hours of sleep daily to improve your lifestyle. Getting enough sleep also helps our brain to store information.

Exercise mental: Mental exercise is also very important for you to keep your body healthy in busy lifestyle. Puzzles, studies, new skills, learning, jernling, yoga and meditation strengthens the neural connection by keeping the brain active.

Good sleep is considered to be the secret of good health health. Experts have been constantly insisting on its importance and warns that lack of sleep gives rise to many health related problems. According to the recent research, the effect of lack of sleep on the brain can also be dangerous due to the effect of alcohol. Constant sleep deficiency reduces the ability to focus, memory is weak and mood is also seen fluctuating. At the same time, the effect of sleep deficiency is not just temporary, as the brain becomes temporarily listened to on drinking, similarly sleeping can put a long -term negative effect on the brain and body. People who sleep less continuously at night can gradually lose their mental and physical ability.

Lack of sleep affects the brain

The effect of sleep deficiency is visible on the body like alcohol. After not sleeping properly one night, the person often feels tired, mental confusion and lazy. Apart from this, frequent sleep deficiency can also affect the functioning of brain cells. According to experts, lack of sleep is affected by our body for a long time. Due to lack of sleep, the body and brain gradually begin to weaken, while the effect of alcohol is usually temporary.

How to keep your mind safe?

The effects of sleep deficiency are serious, but it can be reduced by adopting some measures. Experts say that every day try to sleep at the same time and wake up daily in the morning. This keeps the organic clock of the body right. At the same time, get at least 7 hours of continuous sleep daily, which gives enough rest to the brain and body and the cells work correctly. Apart from this, keep sleeping time from 9 am to 4 am to keep the body safe. This time is considered to be the most favorable for the brain and body. Experts say that preference to sleep is not only a way to relieve fatigue, but it is also necessary for long health of the brain and body.
