Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar has reached Bangladesh on a three -day visit. After reaching Dhaka, Dar met Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh and National Citizen Party (NCP) leaders. Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said that Dar appreciated the “reformist thinking and vision of social justice” of NCP leaders and emphasized more dialogue between the youth.

The NCP said after the meeting that it is necessary to resolve the 1971 issue to carry forward the relationship. Jamaat-e-Islami also demanded to resolve unresolved issues soon. No statement came from BNP yet, but Dar’s meeting with party president Khaleda Jia is scheduled on Sunday evening.

1971 issue again in discussion
It remains a big question in Bangladesh whether Pakistan will apologize for its role in the 1971 war. Foreign Affairs advisor Tauheed Hussain tried to contact this, but he did not get available. The Dhaka-Islamabad relationship was cold during the former Awami League government.
