Foxconn: Foxconn’s subsidiary company Yuzhan Technology has called back 300 Chinese engineers from its unit in India. This is the second time in recent times when this Taiwan company has taken such a step. Sources aware of this development told ET that this has happened at a time when the relationship between the two countries is slowly improving.

This is happening for the second time in recent times

Earlier on July 2, there were reports that Apple’s supplier company FoxConn had to recall about 300 Chinese engineers and technicians from its own manufacturing unit in India. Now the same number of engineers have been withdrawn from the unit of Yuzhan Technology in India.

Yuzhan Technology is creating a display module assembly unit in Tamil Nadu. It is costing Rs 13,180 crore. In the information given to the stock exchange in May, Foxconn said that it would invest $ 1.5 billion in its Yuzhan unit as the company is shifting the manufacturing of iPhone out of China among America’s threats to impose high tariffs.

Foxconn gave information to the government

A source said, Foxconn has informed the government that he has been asked to send back all the Chinese migrant employees who were brought to the Unit of Yuzhan Technology in India to install component ecosystem and fatty. This time the company has to send back 300 engineers. Apart from these, 60 more engineers were coming to India, they have also been refused.

Why are engineers being called back?

In a conversation with the government, Foxconn in talks about the possible causes of China’s action, but it has not been made public yet. It is estimated that this may be China’s strategy to prevent the export of advanced equipment used in transfer of technology and manufacturing.

The iPhone 17 is to be launched in the coming months. In such a situation, this move of Foxconn can affect the assembly work of the iPhone in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka’s manufacturing unit. However, India says that this will not affect the production of mobile in the country.

Both are getting closer amid American pressure

Amid the increasing pressure of American tariffs, these days, two Asian countries India and China relations are getting softening. Recently, China’s Foreign Minister Wang E visited India. During this, he met his counterpart of India S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

During this time it was agreed between the two countries to maintain peace and stability on the border. China was also again ready to supply rare meaning magnets and fertilizers to India. Both India and China agreed to re -trading through the border, promote investment and resume direct flight service soon.

China deceives india apple iPhone: Fraudcore China neither quarreled with India nor changed the name of any city or village nor did any bullying on the border. Despite this, he will have to pay the price of his 300 employees by recalling his 300 employees from India, not only India but the whole world. India will have to bear the most brunt of this. Not only India but also America has suffered a major setback when these 300 Chinese employees return to China.

Foxconn was setting up a big plant in 300 acres in Bengaluru

The name of the largest phone manufacturer for Apple making iPhone is Foxconn. Foxconn is setting up a large plant in Devashali in Bangalore, the city of India, so that the iPhone’s upcoming series iPhone 17 can be made in India only. Now this company is from China, then obviously most of the engineers in this company are also from China, so they also need a house to live around Devashali. Due to this, there has also been a terrible increase in the price of real estate around Devashanhali and its surroundings. Karnataka Industries Minister MB Patil also wrote about this in one of his posts on X.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that most of the iPhones sold in America will be made in India and all this was almost certain. Foxconn plant was being built on about 300 acres. Around 30,000 people were being built nearby. The price of the property had increased by 30 to 35 percent. And by the end of 2025, everything was going to be prepared. But at the last moment, China has cheated that it seems that now everything will be ruined.

China recalled 300 Foxconn engineers

China has called back 300 engineers of Foxconn, a iPhone manufacturer for Apple within the last two months. These were the engineers who had to make the iPhone 17, the engineers of India had to do the technology transfer and the engineers of India also had to make them capable that they would make phones like iPhone in India by themselves. But at the last moment, Foxconn called his engineer withdrawn and now only supporting staff are left in this plant, who belong to Taiwan.

China did not give any reason to call engineers back

Neither the Chinese government has made any argument nor their company Foxconn said anything behind calling these engineers back. But it is certain that Foxconn could not do this work without the pressure of the Chinese government. The Chinese government neither wants its technology to reach India or any other South Asian country nor does it want such equipment to India. Therefore, before the production of iPhone 17 started, under the pressure of the Chinese government, Foxconn called the engineer back and gave a big blow.

IPhone construction process will be dull in India

Now the question is what is the future of iPhone in India. So the phone will be made in India, yes its process will slow down, because now there is no one to train the engineers of India. There is also apprehension that when the production slows down, the price of iPhone will also increase and this will affect not only India but also America and China wants this. Because Foxcon is the company of its country and also makes the same iPhone, now the world will have to depend on China for the iPhone and China will supply the iPhone on its terms so that there can be a better business deal than America.

America may cause big loss due to China’s decision

Behind this decision of China, US President Donald Trump could also be the threat that he had given to Apple CEO Tim Cook and said that he should stop production of iPhone in India and after this threat, Trump also made a deal with China, in which China lifted restrictions from rare meanings. It may also be that this may be a price of the deal between the US and China so that the Trump can put more pressure for the deal that is going to do with India in the future. There are many apprehensions, but expectations are more than that and it is expected that in the coming times, India will also have that technology, when that iPhone will not only assemble, but every part of that iPhone will be Made in India.

Apple’s major assembler and one of the world’s largest electronics manufacturing companies, Foxconn, which Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. It is also known by the name of about Rs 18920 crore ($ 2.2 billion) in India and America soon. Regarding this investment, the company has also got the green signal from the Department of Investment Review under the Taiwan government.

IPhone construction will increase in India

Foxconn plans to increase the production of iPhone and its various components in India faster. According to Taiwan Focus report, Foxconn will capitalize Rs 12814 crore ($ 1.49 billion) in its Singapore -based subsidiary ‘Foxconn Singapore PTE Ltd’. This money will be invested directly in Foxconn’s Indian unit Yuzhan Technology (India) PVT LTD.

This investment will give further expansion to the activities related to the construction of iPhone in India, which is expecting a huge increase in exports along with local production.

Preparation of data center unit in America

Along with India, FoxConn has also received an investment approval of $ 375 million (about Rs 3100 crore) in the US. This investment will be used to set up a new unit which will focus on high-tech works like data center safety and server assembly. This step is part of Foxconn’s global expansion strategy, under which the company wants to spread its technical expertise worldwide.

Bounce in iPhone exports from India to America

According to a report by Reuters, FoxConn has now increased rapidly as the iPhone is exporting to America from India. While earlier this figure was 50 percent, between March and May 2025 it increased to 97 percent. During this time iPhone worth $ 3.2 billion was sent to America from India.

Let me tell you, US President Donald Trump had expressed displeasure over Apple’s increasing investment in India and also suggested Tim Cook not to invest in India. But in response, Tim Cook announced to continue his investment in India. In May 2025, Apple announced a new component factory near Chennai at a cost of $ 2.5 billion.

Foxconn’s global expansion

Foxconn is now spreading its manufacturing network globally. The company currently has 223 factories and offices worldwide. Of these, 54 are located in America, and 12-12 in India and Europe. The company is also expanding in Vietnam, Mexico and other countries.

USA’s legendary technology company Apple (Apple) has decided to make a big investment in India in view of global trade tension and its dependence on China. Apple’s manufacturing partner Foxconn is investing $ 1.5 billion (about Rs 12,834 crore) in India. This investment will be made through Singapore -based Foxconnous unit, which will further enhance the company’s production capacity in South India.

Most iPhones will be made in India

This decision has come at a time when commercial tension between the US and China is continuously increasing. This strategy of Apple is to diversify its supply mechanism and reduce dependence on China. The company wants most of the iPhones sold in America to be built in India in future.

Donald Trump’s talk ignored

US President Donald Trump first urged Apple CEO Tim Cook to start manufacturing units in the US instead of producing in India. Trump believed that this would increase employment in America. However, Apple has promoted its investment and production in India bypassing Trump’s advice.

IPhone construction is increasing in India

In the last one year, Apple has created about $ 22 billion iPhones in India, which is about 60 percent more than the previous year. A large part of the iPhone made in India comes from Foxconn in South India factories. Apart from this, companies like Tata Group and Pegatron are also manufacturing for Apple in India.

Improvement in employment and supply chains

Increasing production in India will not only provide relief in cost to Apple, but will also create new employment opportunities in the country. This investment can take India’s electronics manufacturing sector to new heights and take another step forward towards becoming a global manufacturing hub.

Overall, this step of Apple is not only economic, but also strategic, which will help them protect global business instability and India will get further strengthened on the global technical map.
