A big facility is coming for the women of Delhi in 2026. Delhi government will end the Pink Ticket system and start Pink Saheli Smart Card.

With this card, women will be able to travel free in Delhi buses. While boarding the bus, the card will have to be tapped on the conductor’s ETM machine. To avail the benefits of the scheme, the woman must be at least 12 years of age and her permanent address must be in Delhi.

Aadhaar card with Delhi address will be mandatory. This facility will be available only for women living in Delhi. The government is planning to implement it from January 26, 2026. Smart cards will be made by DTC at special counters. This is a digital, transparent and misuse-free version of the Pink Ticket of 2019.

Andhra Pradesh Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy said on Thursday (July 24, 2025) that the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to implement free bus travel for women in the entire state since 15 August 2025.

‘Government exchequer will come to the burden of 3,500 crores’
The Transport Minister said that this service will be available in all Palle-Welugu, Luxury and Ultra-Linge buses, which will have maximum coverage in the entire state. On the other hand, the officials said that the free bus scheme will cost the government treasury to be a burden of Rs 3,500 crore.

This scheme, starting on August 15, is part of the Telugu Desam Party government’s election super six guarantees before the May 2024 elections. Please tell that Telangana’s Revanth Reddy Scheme has also implemented a similar policy.

What did the Transport Minister tell?
Transport, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy said that about 25 lakh women, most of whom are agriculture, laborers and daily laborers, will benefit from this scheme. He said that providing free transport increases their dynamics, they can travel far away. Can look for new opportunities. Reddy said that the Chief Minister has instructed the officials to buy only AC electric buses in future. Converting existing buses into electric buses will reduce the cost of maintenance.
