The Punjab government has made a relief announcement for the students going to appear for NEET UG re-exam 2026. The state government has decided that students appearing for the examination and one of their guardians or guardians will be provided free travel facility in government buses of Punjab Roadways from June 20 to June 22. The aim of the government is to reduce the problems faced by students in reaching the examination centre.

Students will get free travel facility

According to the decision of the Punjab Cabinet, all the students appearing in the NEET UG re-exam to be held on June 21 will be able to travel in Punjab Roadways buses without any fare. This facility will be available for three days keeping in mind the travel before and after the examination.

One parent can also travel for free

The government has decided to provide free travel facility not only to the students but also to a parent or guardian accompanying them. This will especially provide financial relief to the students and their families who come from far-flung areas to appear for the exam.

Decision taken after demand of students

After the examination was canceled and re-conducted, many students had expressed concern about the travel expenses and difficulties in reaching the examination centre. In view of these problems and suggestions of the students, the Punjab government has decided to implement this special arrangement.

It will be easy to reach the examination center

The state government says that no student should face difficulty in taking the examination merely because of travel related problems. With the free bus service, students will be able to reach the examination center on time and their focus will be only on preparing for the examination.

This decision is being considered important in the direction of providing support to the youth participating in education and competitive examinations. Experts believe that this will reduce the additional financial burden on students and their families and they will get an opportunity to take the examination in a better environment.

This facility of free travel in Punjab Roadways buses will remain applicable till June 20, June 21 and June 22, 2026. Students appearing in NEET UG re-exam and their accompanying guardian will be able to avail this facility.

A big facility is coming for the women of Delhi in 2026. Delhi government will end the Pink Ticket system and start Pink Saheli Smart Card.

With this card, women will be able to travel free in Delhi buses. While boarding the bus, the card will have to be tapped on the conductor’s ETM machine. To avail the benefits of the scheme, the woman must be at least 12 years of age and her permanent address must be in Delhi.

Aadhaar card with Delhi address will be mandatory. This facility will be available only for women living in Delhi. The government is planning to implement it from January 26, 2026. Smart cards will be made by DTC at special counters. This is a digital, transparent and misuse-free version of the Pink Ticket of 2019.

The Transport Minister said that this service will be available in all Palle-Welugu, Luxury and Ultra-Linge buses, which will have maximum coverage in the entire state. On the other hand, the officials said that the free bus scheme will cost the government treasury to be a burden of Rs 3,500 crore.

What did the Transport Minister tell?
Transport, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy said that about 25 lakh women, most of whom are agriculture, laborers and daily laborers, will benefit from this scheme. Reddy said that the Chief Minister has instructed the officials to buy only AC electric buses in future. Converting existing buses into electric buses will reduce the cost of maintenance.
