A large number of people gathered in the Arc de Triomphe and Champs-Élysées area. Many fans were seen marching on the streets, with some lighting flares and honking vehicle horns to express their joy. It was reported that about 20,000 people were present in the Champs-Élysées area. However, the situation worsened at many places during the celebrations. Police said that a policeman was injured during this period. According to officials, some people also tried to enter a police station located in the posh 8th Arrondissement area of ​​Paris. The police took immediate action and chased them away from there. At least 45 people were detained by 10 pm local time. Police said that continuous action was taken to control the situation. During this time, the main ring road of Paris also remained closed for some time due to protesters and crowd. Later the police cleared the road and restored traffic. According to officials, a bakery and a restaurant were also damaged. Apart from this, about 1,000 people had gathered in the 16th arrondissement near PSG’s stadium. The police controlled the crowd there too and removed the temporary barricades installed.

Paris was on high alert

Paris was already on high alert to deal with any untoward situation. Around 8,000 policemen were deployed across the city. Last year too, in May, there was massive celebration after PSG’s European success. More than 500 people were arrested across France at that time. According to media reports, two people were killed, about 200 people were injured and more than 500 people were arrested across France during the celebrations after PSG’s victory in 2025. At present, the police is keeping an eye on the situation and is taking further action by identifying the people involved in violence and vandalism.

French President Emmanuel Macron responded to US President Donald Trump’s threat to buy possession of Greenland from the World Economic Forum. Macron said that no country can attack the sovereignty of another country and the European Union should unite and oppose it.
