A video of a Russian diplomat being arrested red-handed on charges of spying for America is going viral on social media. A Russian court on Friday (December 26, 2025) sentenced 38-year-old Arseny Konovolov to 12 years in prison for sharing intelligence information with the US.

In the viral video, officials of the Russian secret agency FSB i.e. Federal Security Bureau can be seen handcuffing the accused diplomat in a moving vehicle (van). In the video, the diplomat can be seen standing in a jail and then in the court docket.

According to the information, the FSB has officially released this video after the diplomat was sentenced on Friday (December 26, 2025). This video came out at a time when relations between Russia and America are improving.

Actually, Konovolov was arrested in the year 2024. For a long time Konovolov worked in the Russian Embassy in America. During the same time, the accused diplomat started working for America. He had shared confidential information related to Russia to America.

FSB arrested Konovolov soon after his return to Russia from America. After a trial that lasted almost a year, the Russian court found the diplomat guilty and sentenced him.

US broke relations with Russia after Ukraine war

After the attack on Ukraine, America completely severed relations with Russia and imposed dozens of sanctions. During the Ukraine war, there were many occasions when Russia and America were on the verge of military conflict. Even both the countries had fired long range missiles at each other.

With the return of Donald Trump to power in America earlier this year, relations with Russia are back on track. Trump has also tried to end the Russia-Ukraine war. In this series, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Alaska in the month of August and had a special meeting with Trump.
