20 thousand flights will be canceled

In this summer season, these airlines have decided to cancel flights on their short routes. This decision has been taken due to the rising prices of fuel (airlines turbine fluid) put in the planes.

Will there be savings from this step?
This step taken by the airlines will result in a marginal reduction of less than 1% in the group’s total capacity, in terms of Available Seat Kilometer (ASK). However, this will have a significant impact on costs. Lufthansa estimates that there will be a saving of more than 40,000 metric tons in jet fuel by October.
