Petrol Smuggling: The effect of the ongoing war between Iran and US is being seen in other countries also. While the prices of petrol and diesel have increased in India, their prices have also increased in the neighboring country Nepal. But despite being neighboring countries, there is a huge difference in the prices of petrol in these two countries. This difference is so much that the number of smugglers between the two countries has started increasing. Now the government has made preparations to deal with this situation.

In this era of global crisis, the price of petrol in Nepal is about Rs 60 (per liter) higher than that in Uttar Pradesh. To take advantage of this huge profit, people are buying petrol at low prices and smuggling it into Nepal. To stop this, the Uttar Pradesh government, district administration, oil marketing companies and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) have together decided to keep a strict vigil on the border.

Now the government is going to keep its eyes on the border of Nepal, here a three-tier surveillance system has been prepared which will thoroughly search every person coming and going. With the help of this strong checking system, strict action will be taken against those smuggling cheap oil from India.

These 8 districts are under surveillance
There is about 579 km long open border between Uttar Pradesh and Nepal. It is quite easy to travel from here, according to the report of News18, in view of this oil game, all-round surveillance has been increased in 8 border districts of UP. These districts include Bahraich, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Shravasti, Balrampur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Gonda and Basti.

This is how surveillance is being done

• Digital and manual monitoring has been increased at petrol pumps, due to which vehicles filling fuel frequently at short intervals are being identified and fuel is being given to them as per requirement.
• The district administration is conducting surprise inspections at petrol pumps, purchasing bulk fuel and keeping a close watch on the vehicles repeatedly going towards the Nepal border.
• Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) deployed on the international border has tightened patrolling and intelligence surveillance on sensitive roads and villages along the border.

In this way the government is keeping a close watch and making efforts to stop oil smuggling.
