At the G-20 leaders’ summit in Johannesburg, Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed 6 new initiatives for global development. These include the establishment of a global traditional knowledge repository, the Africa Skills Multiplier Initiative, the Global Healthcare Response Team, the Countering the Drug and Terrorism Linkage Initiative, the Open Satellite Data Partnership and the Critical Mineral Circulation Initiative.

In the first session organized on development, PM Modi said that these initiatives will help in achieving all-round development. He said that India’s civilizational values ​​pave the way for progress. He said the G-20 will document global traditional knowledge reserves and traditional knowledge that reflect models of sustainable living and ensure that it is transmitted to future generations.

PM Modi on 3-day visit to South Africa
The Prime Minister said in the summit that India’s history is rich in this regard. This will help us advance our collective knowledge for good health and well-being. PM Modi, who is on a 3-day visit to South Africa, said that Africa’s development is important for global progress and India has always stood in solidarity with the continent.

Global Healthcare Response Team
PM Modi also proposed the establishment of a G-20 Global Healthcare Response Team, which will work strongly during the health emergency. He said, “When we work together to respond to health emergencies and natural disasters, we are stronger. Our effort should be to create teams of trained medical experts from fellow G-20 countries, ready for immediate deployment in the event of any global health crisis or natural disaster.

Countering the drug-terrorism nexus
Apart from this, he also suggested a G-20 initiative to tackle the challenge of drug trafficking and counter the drug-terrorism nexus to stop drugs like fentanyl. Prime Minister Modi said that under this initiative, we can take many measures related to finance, governance and security together. Only then can the economy of drug-terrorism be weakened.

Open Satellite Data Partnership
Referring to the Open Satellite Data Partnership, the Prime Minister said that satellite data of G-20 space agencies can be made available to developing countries for activities like agriculture and fisheries and disaster management. Prime Minister Modi also proposed a key mineral circular initiative to promote urban mining, second-life battery projects and other innovations.
