Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed to work towards the fair, proper and mutually acceptable solution of the Indo-China border issue on Sunday (August 31, 2025). In a social media post, PM Modi termed his conversation with Xi Jinping as fruitful. He wrote, ‘We reviewed the positive pace of India-China relations after our last meeting in Kazan, Russia. We admitted that it is important to maintain peace and harmony in the border areas. We reiterated our commitment to cooperation based on mutual respect, interests and sensitivity.

India and China have taken several steps in recent months to remove the increased tussle in the relationship between the two countries after the violent clashes between Indian and Chinese soldiers in the Galwan Valley of East Ladakh in June 2020. Modi reached Tianjin in China from Japan on Saturday (30 August 2025) in the second phase of his visit to two countries. This is Modi’s first visit to China after more than seven years.
