<p style="text-align: justify;">A case of suicide of two female employees of Municipal Corporation has come to light in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Two women employees of Gandhinagar Civic Body allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the canal. Police gave information about this on Saturday (07 March). An official said that the deceased Sejal Patel (26) and Ripal Rawat (24) were residents of Ahmedabad and were recently recruited as employees in Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Giving information, Adalaj Police Inspector LD Odedara said that before jumping into the Nabhoi canal at around 8 pm on Friday night, a woman had told her family that she was going to commit suicide with her friend. He told that the family members tried to contact the women, but their mobile phones were switched off.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Bodies handed over to family members after post mortem</h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The officer further said that the police recovered the bodies with the help of the fire department, which were handed over to the family members after post-mortem. He said that no suicide note has been recovered from the incident spot. The reason for suicide has also not been known yet. The police is investigating the matter.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Head constable committed suicide in Gandhinagar</h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Earlier, a case of suicide of a police head constable had come to light in Gandhinagar. A police head constable posted at Sector-7 police station in Gandhinagar was found dead at his residence on 23 January 2026. The deceased was identified as Upendrasinh Vaghela, a resident of Pethapur. Vaghela had come home on sick leave. According to the police, Vaghela was found hanging from the ceiling fan on the upper floor of his house. After this the family members informed the police officials about this incident. Even during this time the police did not find any suicide note.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Typhoid cases have been reported on a large scale in Gujarat&#8217;s capital Gandhinagar and 104 patients, including children, have been admitted to the hospital on suspicion of this disease. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi reviewed the situation at Gandhinagar Civil Hospital on Saturday. Officials said the number of typhoid patients at the civil hospital has increased in the last three days, and 104 patients have been admitted to the pediatric ward.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">State Deputy CM Harsh Sanghvi said that instructions have been given to senior officials including the Deputy District Magistrate to take stock of the situation in the hospital, while arrangements for food and other facilities have been made for the families of the admitted patients. He said that a team of 22 doctors has been formed to treat the patients.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Union Home Minister Amit Shah talked to DM</h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah discussed the situation with the District Magistrate thrice over phone. He said, &#8220;At present 104 suspected cases have been reported. The administration is continuously strengthening the treatment and monitoring system. Efforts are ongoing to provide better facilities to the patients and their families.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Drinking water is not safe</h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital, Dr. Meeta Parikh said that many people including children from Sectors 24, 25, 26 and 28 of Gandhinagar as well as Adivada area have been admitted and their condition is stable. He said that water samples have been collected from these areas and the report has revealed that the drinking water is not safe (for consumption).</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Health department started door to door survey in the affected areas.</h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Officials said that the health department of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation has started door-to-door survey in the affected areas. He said, &#8220;People have been advised to drink boiled water and eat home-cooked food. The Municipal Corporation is also distributing chlorine tablets for cleaning water tanks.</p>
