The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has issued strict instructions in view of festivals like Ganeshotsav and Durga Puja that no person will immerse the idol in the Yamuna river. According to the order, a fine of Rs 50,000 will be imposed on doing so. This amount will be recovered as environmental damage.

Officials say that idols made of plaster of Paris (POP), color and chemicals do not dissolve in water easily, due to which the river water gets polluted and the living beings in it start dying. Yamuna is already among the most polluted rivers of the country, so this step is necessary to prevent this situation from deteriorating further.

Artificial pond built in different places

DPCC has appealed to the people to use natural soil to make sculptures and immersion only at special places decided by artificial ponds or administration. Delhi Municipal Corporation and other agencies have built artificial ponds at different places for this purpose. Experts say that thousands of idols are immersed in Yamuna during Ganeshotsav and Durga Puja every year.

The color, chemicals and POPs emanating from them spoil the quality of the river water. This not only affects aquatic life, but this polluted water is not even drinkable.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) and the Ministry of Environment have also repeatedly instructed to take strict steps to save Yamuna. He said, “Talking about demolishing the government elected with 3.17 crore votes and more than 51% mandate is going to be angry. Maharashtra will not tolerate personal attacks. Especially objectionable comments will not be accepted on the families of our mothers and sisters and leaders.”

Bawankule said that the government does not want to suppress anyone’s voice and everyone has the freedom to agitate. But he reiterated that the movement should be within the purview of decency and dignity. Threats and derogatory words are not part of the culture of Maharashtra. Issues can be resolved only through patience and dialogue.

Fadnavis’s efforts praised

The Revenue Minister appreciated the efforts of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Maratha reservation. He said that Fadnavis studied this issue day and night, took legal advice, socio-economic survey and made a law to give reservation to Maratha society. This law was also approved by the Legislative Assembly and the High Court, but later the Supreme Court rejected it.

Bawankule said, “Fadnavis had put his reputation at stake for the Maratha society.”

The minister also clarified that the Mahayuti government is fully committed to providing justice to the Maratha society. “Our government is not weak, but strong. Whatever justice has to be given to the Maratha society, it will definitely give our government. The government was with the Maratha society and will always be together.”

Manoj Jarang has announced that he will leave his native village in Jalna district for Mumbai on Wednesday. They are demanding that all the Marathas be given the status of Kunbi (agro -based OBC caste), so that they can get the benefit of reservation. The Bombay High Court in Maharashtra has clarified that Manoj Jarage Patil cannot be allowed to agitate in Mumbai without prior permission in view of maintaining law and order in the city during Ganeshotsav. The court said that democracy and disagreement are connected, but the movement can only be done at the designated site.

The High Court also said that the state government can decide to give Jarage Patil an alternative place in Kharghar area of ​​Navi Mumbai to ensure that Mumbai’s routine is not interrupted. The court also clarified that it can be demonstrated peacefully only after receiving reflection for the movement.

The High Court has given exemption to the agitators that they can apply for permission from the administration. After this, the state government has the right to take a decision according to the sections of the law. The court clearly stated that no public place can be surrounded indefinitely.

‘Movement can affect law and order’

The Bombay High Court also mentioned during the hearing that during the days of Ganeshotsav, the Mumbai Police is completely busy in maintaining law and order. At such a time, agitation or dharna demonstration can affect the peace and system of the city. The hearing was held on a PIL filed by Amy Foundation, in which Jarang Patil’s proposed agitation was opposed.

Movement not above law and order- court

The case came before the bench of Bombay High Court Chief Justice Alok Aradh and Justice Sandeep Maran. The court clarified during the hearing that the right to agitation is part of the democratic system, but this right cannot be above public life and law and order.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made a serious allegation of Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange of making objectionable remarks against the mother of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The BJP has described it as unacceptable and condemnable.
