LPG Gas Cylinders Booking Rules May 2026: The month of May is just around the corner. In such a situation, the news of further changes in the rules of LPG cylinder booking is again in the headlines. There has been turmoil in the global energy market since the US and Israel attacked Iran on February 28.

All the countries of the world are currently facing global energy crisis because there has been a decrease in supply. This is delaying the delivery. As a result, prices are also increasing. In such a situation, it has become necessary for many countries including India to make some important rules so that the current situation can be dealt with. Here, amidst the ongoing tension in the Middle East, many changes related to gas cylinders can be expected in May 2026.

Loud discussion on change in rules

According to reports, oil marketing companies like Indian Oil, BPCL and HPCL are discussing new rules related to the delivery of LPG cylinders. An announcement is expected in May 2026, which will change the current process of monthly booking and delivery of LPG.

Gas cylinder prices may increase

It is expected that there will be a change in LPG prices across India from May 1, 2026. Since the US-Israel-Iran war, Indian oil companies have increased the price of 14.2 kg LPG cylinder by Rs 60 across the country, while the price of 19 kg LPG cylinder has been increased thrice in just one month.

For April 2026, the prices of 19 kg LPG cylinder in metro cities were increased from Rs 196 to Rs 218. The prices were increased after OMCs had increased the prices by Rs 114.5 per cylinder on March 7 and this increase also came when the prices had already been increased by Rs 28 to Rs 31 on March 1, 2026.

Booking deadline may also extend

It is being said that under the new rules, you will be able to book another cylinder only at least 25 days after the delivery of one cylinder. For the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, this time limit can be up to 45 days.

It will be mandatory to give DAC code

Now at the time of delivery of the cylinder, a One-Time Password (OTP) or Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) will be sent to your registered mobile number. It will be mandatory to give this code to the delivery boy. Without this your delivery will not be considered successful.

E-KYC and Aadhaar Linking

Gas companies have now started emphasizing on Biometric e-KYC. In case KYC is not updated, booking or subsidy may be stopped. You can also complete this work through mobile apps like Hello BPCL or IndianOil One.

LPG Cylinder Booking: Amidst the ongoing tension in West Asia, the government has set some rules to ensure that the gas supply reaches every home without any interruption. Every customer using LPG should be aware of these rules. According to the new rules set by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a common citizen can book only a maximum of two cylinders in a month.

If a customer tries to book a cylinder more than this limit, the system may block his booking or the process of additional verification may start. The government provides 12 subsidized cylinders every financial year (which runs from April 1 to March 31). Apart from this quota, if needed, the customer can buy three more non-subsidized cylinders. This means that in this way a maximum of 15 cylinders can be booked on one connection in a year.

These things are also included in the new rules

Earlier, the second cylinder could be booked exactly 21 days after the first cylinder, but now this time period has been extended to 25 days. This means that you will have to wait a little longer than before before booking your next cylinder.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has started a new system to book extra cylinders. If you have already exhausted your annual quota of 12 cylinders, but still want to book more cylinders, then you will have to provide some important information. To do this you will have to use ‘Hello BPCL’ mobile application. This app will ask you many questions, such as-

• Is there any family function like wedding etc. or any special event at your home?
• What is the estimated number of guests?
• Based on your answers to these questions, it will be decided whether you are entitled to get an extra cylinder or not.

Keep these things in mind also

• Now at the time of delivery of the cylinder, an OTP (DAC) will come on your registered number. You will be able to get the cylinder only after telling this code to the delivery boy.
• Cylinder booking can be done only through registered mobile number. Booking is almost impossible without a registered mobile number. If your old number has changed, it is necessary to get it updated by visiting the agency or through the app.
• The government has made it mandatory for all domestic gas consumers to get e-KYC done. Those whose KYC is not updated, their subsidy may be stopped or there may be difficulty in booking.
