India vs Pakistan LPG Price: Amidst the ongoing tension in the Middle East, there is a shortage of gas cylinders across the world. In such a situation, this question arises in the minds of many people that what is its situation in the neighboring countries. Let us tell you that on one hand people in Pakistan are facing rising gas prices, on the other hand shortage of gas has also become a big problem. In many areas, people have to wait for hours for gas to cook, whereas in India, regular supply of LPG cylinders is reaching most of the houses.

How much does a gas cylinder cost in India and Pakistan?

According to recent data, a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder is available in India for around Rs 853. Whereas in Pakistan, the price of LPG cylinder of the same capacity is more than Rs 1,000 in Indian Rupees. That means, in terms of price, LPG cylinder in Pakistan is costlier than India.

This is the reason why the Government of India says that compared to many countries of the world, LPG is being provided to Indian consumers at a relatively lower price. Although the prices in both the countries keep changing from time to time as per the international market and government policies, but in the current situation, the economic burden of gas on the consumers of Pakistan is considered to be higher than that of India.

Also read: Animal Teeth: Animals do not brush but why do their teeth remain white? Have you ever thought

Gas shortage is a bigger problem than price.

The discussion of gas in Pakistan is not limited to price only. There, shortage of natural gas has been a matter of constant concern for the last few years. During the winter season, there have been reports of gas supply being closed for hours in many cities. Many families have to resort to alternative fuels for cooking. In some places, people are able to prepare food only when gas is available late at night or early in the morning.

On the other hand, in India too, LPG prices affect people’s budget, but the situation regarding availability of gas is relatively better. Due to Ujjwala scheme and expansion of LPG distribution network, cylinders are being delivered even to remote areas of the country. This is why a correct comparison can be made only by looking at both price and availability together.

In view of the shortage of commercial LPG cylinders in Delhi, the Delhi government has implemented a new policy regarding distribution. The Department of Food, Supplies and Consumer Affairs has taken this decision so that essential services can be given priority amid limited availability of gas and hoarding can also be stopped.

According to the new arrangement, out of about 9,000 commercial (19 kg) LPG cylinders sold daily in Delhi, about 20 percent i.e. about 1,800 cylinders will be distributed in a controlled manner. This means that gas will now be given to different services and institutions on priority basis.

There will be a reduction of about 236 cylinders in government and PSU institutions.

According to the information, the government has made it clear that priority will be given to the gas needs of essential services like schools, hospitals, railways and airports. Efforts will be made to fulfill almost 100 percent requirement of these institutions, although here also about 200 cylinders can be reduced. Apart from this, there will be a reduction of about 236 cylinders in government and PSU institutions and their canteens.

Caterers and banquet halls will get less supply of about 162 cylinders.

Restaurants and eateries may have to face the biggest impact, where around 762 cylinders will be cut. At the same time, about 72 less cylinders will be given in hotel, guest house and hospitality sector. Dairies, bakeries and sweet shops will have a reduced supply of about 200 cylinders, while caterers and banquet halls will get a reduced supply of about 162 cylinders.

Also read- Delhi News: Be careful Delhi! Cheating by showing fear of disconnecting LPG-PNG connection, police issued special warning

150 cylinders will be given less in sports stadium and other categories

Apart from this, there will be a reduction of 18 cylinders in dry cleaning, packaging and pharma units. Whereas about 150 cylinders less will be given in sports stadiums and other categories. The government has also clarified that at present the supply of 5 kg cylinders will be stopped and gas will be made available mainly in 19 kg commercial cylinders only. Also, gas will be supplied on booking basis and to prevent any kind of hoarding, the supply of cylinders will be decided according to the average consumption of the last three months.

Today, there is increasing concern across the country regarding the availability of gas for cooking. Amid pressure on LPG supply in the country, institutions are taking steps to manage their resources. In this context, IIT Bombay has made temporary changes in the mess menu of its hostel. Its main objective is to save the limited stock of LPG and ensure that students get food without interruption.

IIT Bombay officials said that now such dishes will be served in the mess which consume less gas. With this change, hostel residents are experiencing the new menu from March 14. This decision also makes it clear how even big institutions are exercising caution amid global conditions and uncertainty about fuel availability.

What changes have been made in the mess?
According to the revised menu, only one vegetarian dish will be served in every meal. The previously available non-vegetarian dishes have been discontinued for the time being. In addition, high energy-intensive cooking methods such as frying and long boiling have also been temporarily discontinued. Instead of sweets, milkshake or ice cream will now be served at dinner. Milk will now be served at room temperature or chilled, and lunch and dinner will also include fruits.
reason for change

According to the message from IIT Bombay, these changes have been made keeping in mind the shortage of LPG. Due to the current global circumstances and war-like situation, fuel supply has been affected. Therefore, those dishes which required more gas for cooking have been temporarily removed. The institute has clarified that this step is a precautionary measure and is aimed at conserving the available stock and providing regular food service to the students.

Also read – Controversy over an excerpt from NCERT’s Class 8 book, Brahmin community expressed objection

Other fuel management measures

IIT Bombay is not completely dependent on LPG. Biogas and electric cooking options are also already available, however, the institute has decided to manage resources responsibly by reducing fuel consumption until supplies become normal. Not only mess, but activities like tea parties, gala dinners, special lunches or dinners have also been postponed. Students have been advised not to pay attention to rumors and not to panic. IIT Bombay officials said that these changes are temporary. As soon as LPG supply becomes normal, regular mess menu and normal food services will be resumed.

The effect of the ongoing war between America, Israel and Iran is visible in the country these days. These days, there are reports of shortage of LPG gas in many cities of the country. Hotel, restaurant and transport sectors are said to be affected by this. Meanwhile, an old post of an astrologer is going viral on social media, in which he had talked about the interruption of gas supply months ago. It is being told that this post of his is from September 2025 but now when the news of LPG shortage has come to light, this tweet has again come into discussion.

Prediction was made 5 months ago

Astrologer Prashant Kini had made a post on the social media platform X in September 2025. In his post, he had written that after March 2026, there may be interruption in the supply of petroleum and natural gas in India and the supply chain may be affected. Now when news of shortage of commercial LPG has started coming in many cities due to the war in the Middle East, he again shared the same old tweet on March 11 and wrote that he had made this prediction about 5 months ago. After this his tweet once again went viral and people are seen making many comments on social media regarding his tweet.

Shocking reactions from users on social media

After the astrologer’s old tweet went viral, people are giving different types of reactions on social media. One user asked, can you tell when this time will end? While another jokingly wrote that if you could predict the future then why didn’t you become the richest man in the world. One user said that there is no shortage right now, people are just stocking up more due to fear. Someone wrote, let’s see what really happens after March 2026. Another user commented that your predictions often turn out to be true. Many users even asked the astrologer whether Iran will stop attacking the Gulf countries and when will the situation become normal. At the same time, some users termed the prediction wrong and said that the astrologer’s guess turned out to be wrong. There is no shortage of gas, the Indian government is controlling it for the safety of consumers.
