The matter was so serious that many people demanded strict action from the railway administration and the Railway Protection Force was also tagged.

The scene of a general coach is seen in the viral video. The coach is already full of passengers. Meanwhile, a passenger sitting on the upper berth adopts a very dangerous method to charge his mobile. He connects an open electric wire in the switch board of the passenger coach. The end of the wire was not completely covered, that is, it was a bare wire. This situation could cause short circuit or electric shock at any time.

Not only this, the same passenger had also hung his shoes on the luggage rack. The place where passengers’ bags and essential items are kept was being used as a shoe stand. This was not only inconvenient, but was also considered wrong in terms of cleanliness and etiquette.

It can be seen in the video that another passenger protested against this act. He asked the man, do you want to kill someone? You are doing this right. He explained that it is extremely dangerous to have open wires in a moving train. Even a slight spark or shock can cause a major accident. He asked the passenger to immediately remove the wire and install the charger properly. Upon explanation, the passenger removed the loose wire and plugged his charger properly.

As soon as the video surfaced, there was a queue of people’s reactions on social media. Many users called it irresponsible behavior. He said that the general coach is already overcrowded, hence such carelessness can put the lives of hundreds of people in danger. Some people demanded from the railway administration that strict rules and monitoring are necessary to stop such incidents. What is the fine for traveling in the luggage coach of a train?

Different railway zones have slightly different rules on traveling in luggage coach, but in general, according to the Railways Act, 1989, unauthorized entry is a punishable offense with a fine of Rs 500 to 1000 or jail up to 6 months. According to the official information of Railways, in such a case, a fine of 6 times the luggage fare or at least Rs 50 can be charged. As per South Western Railway rules, if you are caught traveling in a brake van or luggage van, a fee equivalent to a 1AC ticket and penalty may be charged.

Other railway rules and fines

According to railway rules, the passenger should travel in the same coach for which the ticket has been taken. If you travel without a ticket or in the wrong coach, TTE or Railway Police can charge you a fine. If you have a general ticket and you sit in a sleeper or AC coach, you may have to pay the difference in fare and penalty. If your ticket is of AC 3 Tier and you sit in AC 2 Tier or First AC, then you may have to pay the difference in fare and additional charges. Sitting in women’s coach, disabled coach or special reserved coach without eligibility is also against the rules. Railway staff can take immediate action in such a situation and you may have to pay a fine or may be sent to the right coach at the next station.
