Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina has given a big statement regarding the current political situation of the country. He has also made allegations regarding the ongoing instability in Bangladesh, the ban on Awami League and the rise of unelected extremism-backed rule in the country. Along with this, he has also expressed objection regarding keeping Awami League out of the upcoming general elections.

Sheikh Hasina said, ‘Keeping Awami League out of the process of general elections in Bangladesh is a blatant violation of democratic principles. Without the presence of Awami League in the country, no election can be democratically legitimate. This election is being organized in the country under an unconstitutional structure by an unelected regime.

He said, ‘The Awami League, which was elected nine times by the people of the country, has been stopped by this unelected regime from contesting the elections. This is an open attempt to snatch away the democratic rights of millions of voters of the country.

Ban on Awami League should be lifted: Hasina

Sheikh Hasina said in an interview to India Today, ‘It is not important whether Awami League is in power or in opposition in Bangladesh, but it cannot be sidelined from the general elections by banning it in this way. In the interest of Bangladesh, it is very important that the ban on Awami League be lifted, otherwise the country will lose an opportunity when a government could have been formed which would actually rule with the consent of the people of Bangladesh. He said that the people of Bangladesh want stability in the country and this process of sanctions should be stopped.

The people of the country have the right to choose their leader: Hasina

When he was asked about his return to Bangladesh, he said, ‘My commitment towards Bangladesh is unwavering. I have dedicated my life to the overall development of the country and my dedication remains as strong even today. I want to return to my country, but my condition for this is that democracy should be completely restored in the country. Apart from this, such elections should be conducted in the country through which Bangladesh will be free, fair and with participation of all and Awami League should be included again in this process, because the people of Bangladesh have the fundamental right to elect their representatives.

Veena Sikri on Muhammad Yunus Resign: Former India High Commissioner Veena Sikri in Bangladesh has made a big statement on the resignation of Mohammad Yunus. He has termed the discussion of Mohammad Yunus’s resignation as a drama. He said that the matter of resignation of Mohammood Yunus is completely only a drama. Yunus had no intention of resigning, even he himself never said that he would resign.

Former India High Commissioner Veena Sikri in Bangladesh told the news agency ANI, “The resignation of Mohammad Yunus was really a deception to divert the attention of the people from the Bangladeshi Army Chief and all other military officers.”

He said, “On May 21, Bangladesh’s military chief General Waqar-e-Zaman had called all military officers and held a discussion with them. Five important points were announced after discussion with military officials. Mohammad Yunus has no right- Veena Sikri

Former High Commissioner Veena Sikri said, “After the Army’s announcement, it now depends on Mohammad Yunus that what they react to this? Veena Sikri said, “Mohammad Yunus has the support of Islamic fundamentalists. It includes all Islamic radical groups including Jamaat-e-Islami. I would say that they are representatives of Islamic fundamentalists.”
