BJP MLA from Bansdih assembly constituency in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh, Ketki Singh, has urged the central and state government to rename Ghazipur after Maharishi Parashuram’s father Maharishi Gautam.

All such names that remind us of our stigma, which are kept to glorify and praise the invaders, all such names should be removed and the birthplace of great men should be named after him. Under this, I want the name of Ghazipur district to be changed.

Ketki Singh claimed that the history of Ghazipur is close to Maharishi Gautam, and quoted that the name of the district should be changed as Allahabad was renamed as Prayagraj.
