Former CM of Jammu and Kashmir and Democratic Progressive Azad Party President Ghulam Nabi Azad rejected speculation of his name over the post of Vice President. When the media questioned him on Thursday (July 24) in Katra, he said that rumors are very much in Jammu and Kashmir. I request people to zero rumors. Statehood is necessary for development- former CM

The former CM said that both 370 and statehood are different things. Statehood is necessary for the development here. State mortal is not an issue of any Hindu or Muslim and Kashmir and non -Kashmiri. It belongs to every party, it belongs to every religion, every region. Ghulam Nabi Azad told the media that three states had got the status during his era. He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir still remember the era when the administration was transparent and development was given priority.

The former CM said;

• When I was the Minister of State Home, I recommended three UT for the state
• But I saw my own state UT, it was untoward
• The Prime Minister and the Home Minister had talked about giving statehood
• I am confident that they will give the statehood
• But the sooner it is, the better

The demand for the state is not new- free

Ghulam Nabi Azad said, “During our tenure, we had given state status to three states like Jharkhand, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh. The demand for the state is not new, but it is a democratic and constitutional expectation of the people.”

Restoration of state status is a symbol of self-esteem- free

Further, he said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir still remember the ‘Azad Yuga’, when there was a pace of stability and development in administrative work. The restoration of state status is not only a constitutional right but is also a symbol of the identity and self-esteem of Jammu and Kashmir.

This statement of Ghulam Nabi Azad has come at a time when the people of Jammu and Kashmir have been concerned about the restoration of state status for a long time. On 5 August 2019, the central government converted Jammu and Kashmir from the state to union territory with Article 370.

Assembly elections should be done as soon as possible- independent

The former CM also clarified that his party will continue to raise the voice of the people in a democratic manner. He appealed to the central government to restore state status by holding the assembly elections at the earliest so that the public can choose their elected government.

We may fight in Parliament, but in the case of the country, free
He said, “We told them that Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians in India live together. Our politics argues in Parliament, but in the matters of the country, we all stand together, whether within the country or outside.” He told that there are about 10-12 lakh people of Bharti origin in Kuwait, who are 20 percent population here and they are proud of those who work here.

The former Chief Minister admitted that there may have been a lapse in security somewhere, but also said that it is not practical to deploy security forces at every hill and every tourist spot. He also added that “it is a very challenging task to make the land of Kashmir completely safe.”

Indo-Pak tension and impact on Kashmir
On the exemption of independent action by Prime Minister Modi, he said that any kind of military action has a direct impact on Jammu and Kashmir. “Villages on the border are the most affected.” He underlined the fact that the decision should be from collective thinking, not a conflict.

On the basis of religion, the murder was described by Ghulam Nabi Azad as the result of the current Army Chief of Pakistan and ISI’s thinking. He said, “Pakistan wants to divide India on the basis of religion, but we should not come under his move.”

Advice to political parties to be restrained
He advised all political parties to prevent their leaders from making controversial statements on the incident. Azad appreciated the steps taken by the Congress in this direction and said that “every party should make its leaders realize the responsibility.”
