US-Italy Relations: The dispute that started between US President Donald Trump and Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni now seems to be turning into diplomatic tension. Italy’s Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has canceled his proposed US tour after Trump’s controversial remarks regarding Meloni. After this, a new sourness has arisen in the relations between the two countries, whereas till now both the leaders were considered close allies.

Foreign Minister canceled America tour

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced on Friday that he would no longer attend the Italy-US Business, Invest and Science Forum in Miami. Along with this, he also canceled the scheduled meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Tajani wrote on the social media platform

The serious and offensive words of President Trump against the President of the Council Giorgia Meloni have offended all of Italy. For this reason I have decided to cancel my visit to the United States planned for the next 21 and 22 June.

—Antonio Tajani (@Antonio_Tajani) June 19, 2026

Controversy started due to Trump’s statement

The controversy began when Donald Trump claimed in an interview with Italian TV channel La7 that Georgia Meloni was eager to get photographed with him during the recent G-7 summit in France. Trump said, “She asked me to take a photo. She wanted a photo with me. I didn’t want to take a photo, but I felt sorry for her.”

Meloni called Trump’s claim a lie

After Trump’s statement, Georgia Meloni released a video on Twitter calling these claims completely false. Meloni said, “Donald Trump’s statements are completely fabricated. I am really shocked. I do not understand why the President of the United States behaves like this with his own colleagues and this is not the first time either.”

Also read- Donald Trump got angry on Mujtaba Khamenei’s statement, said- ‘I was not desperate, now Iran will not get even a single penny’

He further said, “It is a matter of shame that he does not show as much strictness against the enemies of the West and the adversaries of America as he shows against his allies.” Meloni said, “But remember one thing, Chris and I never beg.” After this controversy, many senior leaders of Italy gave open statements in support of Prime Minister Meloni.

Trump again repeated the attack

The controversy did not stop here. Later in an interview with NBC News, Trump once again targeted Maloney and linked it to European support during the Iran conflict. Trump said, “I do not consider her my supporter because she was not present with the NATO group when the issue related to the Strait of Hormuz was in front.”

Relationships have gone sour before too

This controversy is being considered as another major setback in the relationship between Trump and Meloni. Earlier, both the leaders were considered close allies of each other in Western Europe. Meloni was the only major European leader to attend Trump’s second swearing-in ceremony.

Distance increased on Iran issue

However, in recent months, differences between the two leaders regarding the Iran war have increased. Earlier this year, Meloni had called Trump’s criticism of Pope Leo XIV, who opposed the Iran war, unacceptable. After this, Trump also accused Italy of not supporting America enough during the Iran conflict.

America has openly praised Pakistan for hosting the high-level talks between America and Iran in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad. US Acting Ambassador to Pakistan Natalie A. Baker called it the most important moment in the modern history of Pakistan. He said that Pakistan has played an important role in making dialogue possible between two long-standing rivals.

Speaking at an event marking the 250th anniversary of US independence, Natalie Baker said that in April Islamabad hosted the most high-level talks between the US and Iran since the 1979 Iranian revolution. According to him, this incident is a very important chapter in the modern history of Islamabad.

American acting ambassador praised

US Acting Ambassador Baker said that this conversation between the representatives of America and Iran lasted for about 21 hours. During this period, to strengthen the security system, Pakistan deployed more than 10 thousand security personnel and kept many important routes temporarily closed. He said that Pakistan has good relations with both America and Iran and it is not a direct party to this dispute. This was the reason why Pakistan proved to be a suitable place for talks between the two countries. He said that during this sensitive conversation, the US mission present in Pakistan played an important role in communication, logistics and assistance to the US delegation. Baker also praised the efforts of Pakistani officials and allies.

What did the US Ambassador say on Pakistan?

The US Ambassador said that it was difficult for many Pakistanis to believe that representatives of countries like America and Iran were sitting face to face in Islamabad and talking. He said that it was a proud moment for Pakistan and the country successfully fulfilled its responsibility. Natalie Baker said in her address that a strong Pakistan is good for America and a strong America is also beneficial for Pakistan. He also appreciated the growing cooperation and strategic relations between the two countries. He also mentioned the tension between India and Pakistan in 2025. He said that Pakistan’s leadership at that time showed wisdom in keeping the situation under control and reducing tension, which was appreciated in Washington.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was present

Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, many senior officials, diplomats, businessmen and people associated with the social sector were present in this program. Natalie Baker also praised the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and US President Donald Trump. He said that in the last two years, relations between the two countries have become stronger in the fields of security, trade and diplomacy. Describing America and Pakistan as true strategic partners, Baker said that this relationship is not limited to mere transactions, but is based on mutual respect, security and common goals of development.

What did Shahbaz say on America’s 250th Foundation Day?

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also described the relations between the two countries as special on the occasion of America’s 250th Foundation Day. He praised President Donald Trump and said that his role was important in achieving ceasefire during the tension between India and Pakistan. Sharif said that Pakistan will be grateful to Trump for his efforts to maintain peace in South Asia and he will be remembered as a peace-building leader.

President Xi Jinping has clearly said that the issue of Taiwan is the “most important and sensitive” topic in the relations between America and China. He warned that if this issue is not handled properly then a situation of conflict may arise between the two countries.

Amidst the increasing diplomatic contacts between Xi Jinping and Donald Trump, the issue of Taiwan has once again come to the center of US-China relations. According to China’s official news agency Xinhua, the Taiwan issue was the most important topic in the closed-door meeting between Xi Jinping and Donald Trump. According to China’s state news agency Xinhua, President Xi Jinping told Trump that US-China relations could enjoy “overall stability” if the Taiwan issue was handled properly. However, Xi also warned that if this sensitive issue is mishandled, it could lead to “confrontation and even conflict” between the two countries. He said that if this happens, bilateral relations will be in serious danger.

Xi also met American businessmen

In a statement issued in Beijing, Xi Jinping told American representatives and business leaders that stable relations between China and the United States are essential for the economic and strategic stability of the entire world. Inviting American companies to increase investment and cooperation in China, he said that there are vast opportunities ahead for American companies in China. China has given this message at a time when tension between the two countries regarding trade, technology and security is continuously increasing. Meanwhile, American chip manufacturer Jensen Huang also expressed hope for improvement in relations between the two countries. According to China’s government channel CCTV, the Nvidia chief said that he hopes that the top leaders of the two countries will improve bilateral relations by taking forward good relations. It is noteworthy that the competition between America and China regarding semiconductor and AI technology has intensified in recent years.

from taiwanYoga will increase Indo-Pacific peace in

Taiwan has reacted sharply to China’s statements. A Taiwan government spokesperson said China’s military threats are the only source of insecurity in the Taiwan Strait and the broader Indo-Pacific region. Expressing gratitude for America’s support, the spokesperson said that Washington has consistently reiterated its strong support for Taiwan. Taiwan also said it would continue to work with democratic allies to maintain regional peace. In fact, in the last few years, China has intensified military activities around Taiwan. Beijing considers Taiwan as its part and has said that it will take control over it even by using force if necessary. On the other hand, America talks about following the “One China Policy”, but has also been providing military and strategic support to Taiwan. This is why the issue of Taiwan remains the biggest tension point in US-China relations.

Trump reached “Temple of Heaven”

Meanwhile, Chinese government media informed that Donald Trump reached the historic “Temple of Heaven” located in Beijing. Trump’s visit and Xi Jinping’s statements are being seen at a time when efforts are being made to increase dialogue between the two countries, but the rhetoric regarding Taiwan has clearly indicated that the geopolitical tension in the Asia-Pacific region is not going to subside yet.

United Nations Role: Tension has increased significantly after the joint air attack on Iranian cities by America and Israel. Amidst this worsening situation, the question is arising in the minds of people that why is the United Nations not opposing the attack on Iran? Let us know what was the real motive behind creating the United Nations?

Why is the United Nations silent?

Recently, United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has described these attacks as a violation of international law and the United Nations Charter. However, issuing statements is different from taking concrete action. The United Nations does not have any independent military force and any necessary action must go through its most powerful body, the United Nations Security Council.

Disagreements within the Security Council

The main reason for the United Nations not being able to take concrete action is the deep differences within the Security Council. The five permanent members of the Council, United States, Russia, China, United Kingdom and France, have veto power.

In the current circumstances, Russia and China have reportedly condemned the attack. At the same time, the United States has described them as a right and self-defense act. When there is sharp disagreement among the permanent members, it is almost impossible to reach a consensus. Without unity among these forces, the Security Council cannot pass any strong resolution.

effect of veto power

The veto system is one of the most controversial aspects of the structure of the United Nations. Any of the five permanent members can stop any proposal. Now even if most countries support it, it does not matter. If any resolution is presented to stop the evil of the United States or Israel or to stop it, then the United States can use its veto to stop it. This weakens the ability of the United Nations to take measures to stop such conflicts, approve peacekeeping operations or enforce actions.

logic of nuclear program

Another difficult thing is the argument given by the United Nations and Israel. They argue that their attacks are to stop Iran’s development of nuclear weapons. Some countries in the United Nations system support or understand this to some extent. When member states do not agree on whether an action is an attack or self-defense, it becomes difficult to form a consensus.

Why was the United Nations created?

The United Nations was established in 1945 after the devastation of the Second World War. Its purpose was to prevent another global war and maintain international peace and security. Its main objectives include resolving disputes between countries peacefully, protecting human rights, building friendly relations between countries and providing humanitarian aid in difficult times. The objective of this organization was to work as a global platform. Where countries can resolve tensions through dialogue instead of fighting.

US President Donald Trump has once again taken a big step in international politics. Eight major Muslim countries on Wednesday (21 January 2026) announced to join the Board of Peace formed by Trump. With this decision, a new debate has started regarding the arrangement after the Gaza war and the resolution of global disputes.

Muslim countries included in Trump’s Board of Peace include Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Qatar and United Arab Emirates. All these countries have agreed to send their representatives to the board. This board has been created under a special mandate of the United Nations Security Council, whose primary objective is to monitor the post-war situation in Gaza. The time limit of this board has been fixed till 2027.

Trump’s big plan ahead of Gaza

Although the current focus of the board is Gaza, Donald Trump does not want to limit it only to this area. Trump intends to make this platform a center for resolving major disputes and conflicts around the world in the future. For this reason, he has emphasized on including those countries which are considered to have influence in global politics.

Why America is considering this as its diplomatic victory

The most special thing about this board is that it will be headed by Donald Trump himself for life. To become a permanent member, each country will have to pay a membership fee of one billion dollars. The board will hold a limited number of meetings a year, while a separate Gaza Executive Board has been formed to handle Gaza-related matters.

Linking Saudi Arabia to this initiative is being considered a major diplomatic achievement for Trump. Trump had been appealing to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to join this board for a long time. After Riyadh’s consent, the White House is presenting it as a major success.

Russia’s entry increased the stir

Meanwhile, Trump has also revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin has accepted the invitation to join this board. According to Trump, only those people who have real power and influence will be included in the board. He said in a joking tone that if only weak or ineffective people are kept in it, no concrete results will be achieved.

Concern increased in western countries

There is uneasiness visible in many western countries regarding this initiative of Trump. Some diplomats believe that this board could weaken the traditional role of the United Nations. The Prime Minister of Slovenia has made it clear that his country will not be a part of this board. They argue that its scope is too wide and it could harm the existing structure of the United Nations.

Common message of Muslim countries

The eight Muslim countries included in the board have said in a joint statement that they are supporters of a just and lasting peace based on the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and an independent state. He believes that this initiative can prove to be an important step towards stability and security in West Asia.

How many countries have received invitation

According to the information, invitations have been sent to about 60 countries to join the ‘Board of Peace’. Israel, Egypt, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Morocco, United Arab Emirates and Vietnam have already agreed to join. Whereas Sweden, Norway and Italy have distanced themselves from this board. Spain says that European countries are deciding a collective stand on this issue.

Pope also got invitation

This initiative can be gauged from the fact that Pope Leo has also been invited to join the Board of Peace. The Vatican has said that this proposal is being considered and no decision will be taken without a complete review.

US-NATO Relations: Amid threats of imposing tariffs on European countries and speculations of military action regarding Greenland, US President Donald Trump has indicated softness in his stance.

After a bilateral meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte during the World Economic Forum (WEF), Trump has decided to withdraw the proposed tariffs on European countries for the time being. This is being seen as a soft but more practical change in Trump’s strategy.

decision to impose tariff postponed

Giving information on his social media platform ‘Truth Social’, Donald Trump said that the tariffs implemented from February 1 will not be extended further. He told that this decision has been taken after a very positive meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

“Based on a productive meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, we have created a framework for a future agreement regarding Greenland and indeed the entire Arctic region,” Trump wrote.

Emphasis on US-NATO cooperation

The US President said that the proposed structure will be in the interest of both America and its NATO allies. For this reason he has withdrawn the decision to impose tariff. He also told that talks on the ‘Golden Dome’ related to Greenland are still going on. According to Trump, this conversation will be led by Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. If needed, other officers will also join in and everyone will report directly to him.

Denmark’s reaction came forward

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen has welcomed Trump’s decision. He said that this step is a positive sign among America’s ambitions regarding Greenland. “The day ended better than it started,” Rasmussen responded.

NATO chief expressed confidence

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte assured Trump during the meeting that in case of crisis, America’s allies will stand firmly with Washington. Referring to NATO’s role after 9/11, he said that at that time the allies fought with American forces in Afghanistan, where some soldiers never returned. Trump praised this assurance and described Rutte as trustworthy, although he also indicated that tensions over Greenland had cast some doubt on the allies’ commitment.

Trump retreats from military stance on Greenland

During his speech in Davos, Trump also distanced himself from earlier rhetoric about military control of Greenland. He once again described Greenland as important for America’s national security and said that due to the increasing global competition in the Arctic region, its strategic importance has increased significantly.

Describing Greenland as a piece of ice, Trump said that the demand for control over it is not very big. He said, “What I am asking for is a cold and remote place that can play an important role in world peace and security. This is a very small demand compared to what we have given for decades.”

Even before the announcement of the Nobel Peace Prize, Russia said on Friday (October 10) that it will support US President Donald Trump’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize. According to Russian government agency TASS, Kremlin’s top advisor Yuri Ushakov said that Moscow is in favor of Trump’s candidacy. He says that the initiative taken by Trump to end the Ukraine war is commendable and can be considered an important contribution towards restoring peace.

Trump’s name was given earlier also

US President Donald Trump’s attraction towards the Nobel Peace Prize is not a new topic. During his first term, he was nominated for this prestigious award for the Abraham Accords, which played an important role towards the normalization of relations between Israel and several Arab countries, but this time Trump has put forward his ambitions more clearly.

He has claimed that in just a few months of his tenure, he has contributed to ending six to seven international conflicts, including the tension between India and Pakistan, which according to him could have escalated into nuclear war.

India has denied Trump’s claims

While Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by Pakistan, India has taken a tough stance on the issue. Prime Minister Narendra Modi clearly told Trump that he had no direct contribution in reducing tension between India and Pakistan.

Donald Trump is making big claims

US President Donald Trump claims that he has played an important role in stopping eight international conflicts. Their list includes Israel-Iran, India and Pakistan, Congo and Rwanda, Cambodia-Thailand, Armenia and Azerbaijan, Nile River dam dispute – Egypt and Ethiopia, Serbia-Kosovo conflict and Israel-Hamas ceasefire in Gaza.
