Iran US conflict: Tension in West Asia has once again reached a dangerous point. Iran has announced closure of the Strait of Hormuz until further notice. Immediately after this, America started the third military attack on Iran this week. America alleges that Iran attacked a Cypriot-flagged commercial container ship passing through Hormuz, in response to which this action was taken.

Iran’s claim – stopped because the ship broke the rules

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) said that a ship was not following the scheduled sea route and did not change its course despite several warnings. After this, the ship was stopped by firing as a warning. Along with this, Iran announced that no ship will be allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz until the American intervention ends. Iran also warned that any retaliatory action would be given a strong response.

Iran mentioned the MoU

The official The post also said that as per the MOU, Iran had agreed to arrange safe passage of commercial ships from the Persian Gulf to the Sea of Oman without any charges for 60 days.

Air strike on many locations

According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), a civilian crew member of the container ship went missing in the Iranian attack and the ship suffered heavy damage due to a fire in the engine room. After this, on the instructions of President Donald Trump, the US Army carried out air strikes on many targets in Iran. US Defense Minister Pete Hegseth said, Iran took a wrong decision, now it will have to pay the price.

Alert in Gulf countries

There have been reports of explosions in many coastal areas of Iran. Whereas missile and drone alert was issued in United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Qatar. The Strait of Hormuz is considered the most important sea route for the world’s oil and gas trade. In such a situation, the possibility of its closure and the increasing US-Iran conflict having a major impact on the global energy supply and oil market has increased.

Amidst the increasing tension in West Asia, the eyes of the world have once again turned to the Strait of Hormuz. The Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters, which is responsible for Iran’s war operations, has announced that the Strait of Hormuz is being “closed” to ships. However, America has rejected this claim and said that ship movement is continuing in the waterway and the situation is being constantly monitored.

Khatam Al-Anbiya Headquarters has cited the alleged violation of the terms of the ceasefire agreement with America as the reason behind its announcement. Along with this, continuous ceasefire violations by Israel in Southern Lebanon, displacement of civilians and military action have also been cited as the basis for this decision.

Amidst these claims and counter-claims, news of relief for India has emerged. Three large Indian flagged crude oil tankers have safely crossed the Strait of Hormuz and headed towards India. More than 8.6 lakh tonnes of crude oil is loaded in these ships, which is considered very important for the energy security of the country.

US President Donald Trump said on Saturday (April 18, 2026) that Chinese President Xi Jinping is very happy with the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social that President Xi is happy that the Strait of Hormuz has opened or is opening rapidly. He also said that his meeting with Xi Jinping in China could be special and possibly historic.

Trump further said that he is excited about this meeting and he hopes that there will be progress on many important issues in this meeting. He believes that through this conversation many important decisions can be taken between the two countries. The Strait of Hormuz is a very important route for global oil supply, so its opening has brought relief not only to China but also to many other countries.

.

Big decision after ceasefire in Lebanon

After the ceasefire in Lebanon, Iran has taken a big decision and opened the Strait of Hormuz for commercial ships, but along with it some strict conditions have also been imposed. According to Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, now all ships passing through this route will have to take permission from Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC). That means no ship will be able to pass through this waterway without permission. Iranian officials also said that this agreement also includes the release of funds frozen by the US. That is, this step is not limited only to the movement of ships, but there has also been a large scale negotiation and agreement behind it.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry statement

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghai clearly said that ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz will have to use only the route decided by Iran. It is clear from this that Iran wants to maintain its control over this entire region. According to the rules, civilian or commercial ships will be allowed to pass through Iran’s designated routes, but the entry of military ships has been completely banned. The opening of the Strait of Hormuz has brought relief to global trade and oil supply, but Iran has also maintained strict monitoring and control over it.

US President Donald Trump has once again given a big statement regarding Iran and the Strait of Hormuz. He has said that America has no need of oil through this sea route and the countries which are dependent on it should themselves take responsibility for it. Trump said in his address that America does not import oil from the Strait of Hormuz and there will be no need for it in the future. He clearly said that the countries of the world which take oil through this route, should protect this route themselves and maintain it.

According to Trump, he warned Iran about Hormuz because many countries had backed out from supporting America on this issue. He said that the countries which are dependent on oil from this route should come forward and take responsibility for its security, while America will help them. He also said that America itself has enough oil, so other countries can buy oil from America if they want. Apart from this, while targeting those countries, he said that they should have shown courage earlier and should have supported America in this matter.

Where is the Strait of Hormuz located?

The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea and is one of the world’s most important oil transport routes. About 25 percent of the world’s global oil passes through this route. This is even more important for countries like India, because about 80 percent of its energy supply is connected to this route. According to reports, Iran has closed this route especially for the ships of America and its allied countries, due to which the movement of hundreds of ships passing through daily has been affected. This includes ships carrying containers, dry goods and oil and gas. Trump believes that after the current conflict ends, this sea route will automatically reopen. At present, after this statement, there is a possibility of further increase in war in the Middle East.

Strait of Hormuz: Tension is increasing in the Middle East. Iran has now decided to recover $2 million (about Rs 18.8 crore) from some ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. This step has been taken by Iran to show its control over this important route of global shipping.

Iranian MP’s statement

Alaeddin Borujerdi, a member of the Iranian parliament’s national security committee, said the new $2 million toll imposed on some ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz has already been implemented. He said that this step shows Iran’s rights in this waterway after decades.

Borujerdi said, “Taking a $2 million toll from some ships shows Iran’s power. Now that the costs of the war have increased, we feel it is necessary to do this. Taking transit fees from ships passing through Hormuz shows the power and authority of the Islamic Republic.”

Trump had threatened

Boroujerdi’s statements came after Trump’s warning. US President Donald Trump had said last week that if Iran does not open the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours, the US will attack Iranian power plants and will start with the largest power plant. The Iranian MP also mentioned Trump’s threat and said that Israel’s energy centers are also within Iran’s reach and can be destroyed in a day.

Iran had replied

In response to Trump’s threat, Iran has made it clear that if America attacks its power plants, the Strait of Hormuz will be completely closed immediately. This strait connects the Persian Gulf to the world and its closure could have a major impact on global oil and other exports.

Tehran has effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz, but claims to maintain safe passage for ships from countries other than its enemies. About one-fifth of the global oil supply passes through the strait, but attacks on ships have now halted almost all tanker traffic.

China Iran Oil Deal: How to create “opportunity in disaster” at a time when the threat of a global energy crisis is looming amid skyrocketing crude oil prices can be understood from China’s strategy. The increasing tension in the Middle East and the possibility of blockage of the Strait of Hormuz has increased concern around the world and there are signs of a major energy crisis. On the other hand, China is preparing to take advantage of this situation.

opportunity in disaster

According to Bloomberg report, in view of the global oil crisis, America has given partial relief in the sanctions imposed on Iran. America has given a temporary exemption of 30 days and allowed Iran to sell oil on a limited basis. After this, Chinese government oil companies are taking advantage of this opportunity and considering new agreements to purchase oil from Iran.

China’s possible oil deal with Iran is happening at a time when crude oil prices remain high due to tensions in the Middle East. After this temporary relief, a ray of hope has arisen for Asian buyers. According to media reports, Chinese refineries have started talks with Iran, although this process is still in the initial stage. At the same time, Iranian oil companies are also exploring options for their exports by contacting Asian refineries through middlemen.

biggest blacksmith china

It is noteworthy that in recent years, China has been the biggest buyer of Iranian oil. In such a situation, after the relaxation of American sanctions, the number of buyers in Iran’s oil market may increase, which will also intensify competition. Due to limited supply and increasing demand, there may be a possibility of further increase in prices. However, according to experts, this possible deal will be important for China on three levels. First, to maintain price balance; Second, ensuring the security of energy supply; And third, to manage the political risks associated with it.

Read this also: Rupee, groaning in front of rising oil prices and dollar strength, broke and reached its lowest level till date.

India’s Inflation Impact: The effect of increasing tension in West Asia is now visible on India’s economy as well. Due to rise in oil prices and global uncertainty, pressure on the Indian currency has increased. The situation is such that the rupee has continuously weakened and reached near Rs 93 per dollar, due to which a situation of economic uncertainty is being created. At the same time, inflation in the country has also reached its highest level in almost ten months.

Experts believe that if this crisis continues for a long time, it can directly impact the pockets of common people. Although at present it does not seem to have a major impact on consumers, but if the situation continues for a long time, there may be an increase in fuel, travel and daily expenses.

Possible impact on India

1. Fuel and gas can be expensive

If the price of Brent Crude remains above $100 per barrel in the international market, then the prices of petrol, diesel and gas may increase. Due to this, there is a possibility of increase in the expenses of travel and daily life.

2. Imports will become expensive

India imports a large part of its needs. Due to the weakness of the rupee, prices of food items, industrial components, electronics and other imported goods may increase.

3. Foreign travel and studies are expensive

Due to the weakening of the rupee, services like foreign travel, foreign university fees and international online subscriptions may become more expensive than before.

4. EMI may also be affected

If inflation increases, the Reserve Bank of India may have to be cautious about cutting interest rates. In such a situation, the possibility of reducing the loan EMI may decrease and the pressure of high interest rates may persist for a long time. Obviously the crisis in West Asia is currently showing limited impact in India, but if oil prices remain high and the rupee weakens, then its impact may gradually reach the common people through inflation, fuel and everyday expenses.

Amidst the ongoing war in the Middle East, the whole world is becoming increasingly concerned about the supply of oil. News is coming out that Iran is now preparing to make the world yearn for every drop of oil. After the almost closure of the Strait of Hormuz, the fuel crisis in the world has started deepening. Meanwhile, there is news that Iran is now considering closing another important route of oil supply. According to reports, Tehran’s war room may be planning to close an important sea route named Bab-al-Mandeb near the Arabian Peninsula.

If the attacks continue, they will block the passage of ships.
According to a report, Iran has indicated that if America and Israel continue to attack it and prolong the war, then Iran may block the passage of ships passing through Bab-al-Mandeb. The report has cited sources monitoring Iran’s military. It has been told that if America targets the new supreme leader of Iran or other big leaders, then Tehran can implement this option.

Iran’s stern warning
Earlier, US President Donald Trump had said that the ongoing war in Iran is almost over. Reacting to Trump’s statement, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards gave a strong reply. He said that Iran will decide when the war will end. If the attacks by America and Israel continue, Iran will not let even a liter of oil go out of its territory.

Bab-el-Mandeb is a very important sea route
The Bab-el-Mandeb Strait is a narrow but very important sea route. It connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden. This route is also a major sea route connecting the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian Ocean through the Suez Canal. Bab-el-Mandeb is located between Yemen in the Arabian Peninsula and Djibouti in Africa. It is counted among the most important sea routes of the world.

Crisis deepens after Hormuz
This news has come at a time when the Strait of Hormuz, another important route in the Gulf area, has almost been closed due to the war. Iran had announced the closure of this route after the attacks by America and Israel. Not only this, some ships trying to pass through this route were also targeted.

According to an independent research organization, about 15 million barrels of crude oil is sent through the Strait of Hormuz every day. This is about twenty percent of the world’s total oil supply. In such a situation, the closure of this route has had a major impact on the fuel supply.

Huge jump in oil prices
The effect of increasing military tension in West Asia is clearly visible on the world oil market. A sharp rise in crude oil prices was seen on Monday. The price of crude oil reached about one hundred and twenty dollars per barrel, although later a slight softening was also seen in it. The international oil standard Brent crude oil reached around one hundred and nineteen dollars fifty cents per barrel.

Production and supply affected due to rust
The war has now reached its second week and it is also affecting the oil and gas producing areas of the Persian Gulf. The movement of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz has almost stopped, due to which there is a sharp increase in the prices of crude oil.

Oil exports of many countries affected
Oil and gas are exported through this route from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates and Iran. But due to stoppage of exports, Iraq, Kuwait and United Arab Emirates have had to reduce their oil production. This rise in energy prices can have an impact on the economy of the entire world. Due to cost of energy, there is a possibility of increase in inflation and pressure on people’s expenditure.

Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz. This is a very important sea route in the Persian Gulf, through which about 20 percent of the world’s oil supply passes. Iran’s powerful army Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has said that this route is now closed for ships and if any ship tries to pass through here, it can be targeted. After this, tension has increased in the global oil market.

According to the report of Business Standard, in the situation of war breaking out in the Middle East, China is being discussed the most because it is the biggest oil buyer of Iran. In the year 2025, China had imported about 13.8 lakh barrels of Iranian crude oil every day. This quantity is more than 80 percent of Iran’s total oil exports. According to statistics, Iran exports about 17 lakh to 21 lakh barrels of oil daily, most of which goes to China. In such a situation, if the Strait of Hormuz remains closed for a long time, the Iranian oil supply to China via sea may be affected.

Iran-China rail network

However, the situation is not completely against China because it had started preparations many years ago to reduce its dependence on sea routes. Rail connectivity has existed between China and Iran for the last decade. In December 2014, the rail link between Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran was started, creating a direct land link from China to Iran. In February 2016, the first goods train from China directly reached Iran. This train started from the Chinese city of Yiwu and covered a distance of about 10,399 kilometers and reached Tehran in about 14 days. This route originates from Xinjiang region of China, passes through Alatav Pass, passes through Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan and reaches Iran. While it takes 30 to 40 days for goods to reach the sea route, the time taken by rail route is around 14 to 15 days.

What is Silk Road Train?

According to Iran’s Transport Minister Mohsen Pour-Aqaei, this train was also called the Silk Road Train and its purpose was to reinvigorate the old Silk Road trade route. The train reaches Eprin Dry Port near Tehran, a large inland cargo terminal from where goods can be shipped throughout Iran. In March 2021, China and Iran also signed a strategic agreement worth about $400 billion for 25 years. This agreement covers many areas like trade, energy, infrastructure and military cooperation. Under this agreement, both the countries further strengthened the railway route so that trade can continue even if there is obstruction in sea routes.

Train from China had reached Iran

In June 2025, Iran’s Mehr news agency reported that a new business freight train was launched from the Chinese city of Xi’an, covering a distance of about 5,300 kilometers and reaching Eprin dry port near Tehran. According to Iranian officials, this rail route is away from maritime areas with US military presence, so even if maritime trade is disrupted, trade between China and Iran can continue. However, this system also has some limitations. About 90 percent of Iran’s exports to China are oil and related products, such as petrochemicals and gas. Such a large oil business is not completely possible through rail, because crude oil is generally sent in large quantities by ships. Nevertheless, the rail route provides an alternative route for non-oil goods and limited trade.

China’s Belt and Road Initiative plan

The project is also part of China’s mega-plan, the Belt and Road Initiative, which was announced by Xi Jinping in 2013. Under this plan, infrastructure is being prepared on a large scale to connect Asia, Europe and Africa. In May 2025, a meeting of railway officials from Iran, China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Turkey was also held in Tehran, in which there was discussion on building a big rail network from Asia to Europe. This network is also being seen as an alternative to the economic corridor called India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor.

America has praised India’s role amid the sanctions imposed on Russian oil. US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant said that India has behaved responsibly in the matter of Russian oil. He described India as a very good partner and indicated that the US may consider relaxing some more restrictions on Russian oil to keep the global oil market stable.

Scott Besant said during a conversation in a program that America has allowed India to buy Russian oil, which was already en route by sea. He said that America had earlier asked India to stop purchasing banned Russian oil by the end of this year and India also complied with this request.

America gave permission to buy oil

Scott Besant said that India had planned to buy American oil instead of Russian oil, but to avoid a sudden reduction in the oil supply in the world, America gave India temporary permission to take the Russian oil already present on the ships. He said that the purpose of this step was to prevent the shortage of oil in the global market. This decision has come at a time when due to tensions related to Iran, pressure on oil prices has increased in the world and there is a possibility of supply being affected in the Middle East. There has been increased concern especially about the situation around the Strait of Hormuz, because a large part of the world’s oil passes through this route.

What did Scott Besant indicate?

Scott Besant also pointed out that if needed, the US could consider lifting some restrictions on additional Russian oil to bring more oil into the market. He said that this step can be taken to keep the global supply balanced. Meanwhile, according to the report of news agency Reuters, the prices of heavy crude oil from the American Gulf Coast have increased. Due to the conflict related to Iran and supply disruption in the Middle East, many buyers are now turning to American oil.
