According to Hindustan Times report, the US Commerce Department said that both sides discussed ways to further strengthen trade and economic relations between the US and India. The spokesperson of the Commerce Ministry did not give detailed information in this regard. Latnik left for Jodhpur during the day. According to people familiar with the matter, he went to Jodhpur to attend the wedding of tech executive Nikesh Arora’s daughter Ayesha Arora and ice hockey star Jack Hughes.

The US Supreme Court on February 20 canceled Trump’s decision to impose global tariffs using emergency powers under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, dealing a major blow to the Trump administration.

Citing Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, Trump imposed a new global tariff of 10 percent and in less than 24 hours announced that he would increase it to 15 percent. However, till Thursday, 10 per cent tariff is applicable on all trading partners in addition to the existing MFN rates. This tariff is valid for 150 days.

What decision did the Supreme Court of America give?

The US Supreme Court on Friday declared Trump’s tariffs illegal. There were six judges in favor of this decision, while three were against it. It says that the Trump administration has used the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) enacted in 1977, as well as misused its powers by imposing heavy import tariffs.

This decision has been given by America’s Chief Justice John Roberts along with Justice Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett and three liberal judges. It says that IEEPA does not allow the President to impose tariffs. This power has been constitutionally given to Congress.

Trump criticized the decision of the US Supreme Court

The Supreme Court’s decision has been criticized by the US President. He has said that this is a very bad decision. Apart from this, Trump has announced to impose 10 percent global tariff under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974. It allows temporary import surcharge for up to 150 days.
