Uterine Cancer: A new report has revealed that many women suffering from uterine cancer are not being properly examined by a genetic condition called Linch syndrome. This condition increases the risk of not only uterus, but also to intestinal cancer.

Lynch syndrome: severe but unseen danger

Lynch syndrome affects one of every 300 person, but surprisingly only 5% of people know about it. This is a genetic condition that makes the person more sensitive to cancer of the uterus and colon (large intestine).

Life can be found on time with time

Experts from the University of Edinburgh say that due to the timely identification of this syndrome, patients can improve their health and take necessary steps to prevent cancer. Also, the expenditure on treatment can also be reduced to a great extent.

Flaws of investigation system found in research

According to the research published in the BMG Oncology Journal, more than 2,500 uterine cancer cases were research in the UK and Ireland between 2022 and 2023. It was found that in 91% of cases, tumors were examined for symptoms of lynch syndrome, but the results of the investigation did not reach the entire team of doctors. As a result, the process of essential genetic counseling and blood test remained incomplete.

Incomplete procedure, incomplete identity

Of the patients who needed genetic counseling, only two-thirds were sent for this, and only 48% of the patients could be examined due to the long waiting list. The direct effect of this was that in many patients, lynch syndrome could not be identified and their risk of cancer was increased.

Awareness and better arrangement needed

Dr. Neel Ryan, Clinical Lecturer of Center for Reproductive Health, University of Edinburgh said, “Despite the good guidelines and check rates, the whole process becomes useless if the patients are not sent on time for a blood test. It is a big threat not only for the patient, but also for their family.

Researchers say that if it is identified on time, then measures such as aspirin, regular colonoscopy and hysterctomy can reduce the risk of cancer in the future to a great extent.

Family history diseases: In today’s time, people are getting many diseases, in which some diseases are such that doctors ask you your family history. If you are being asked by family history, then it is a serious reason. Actually, there are many diseases that run from generation to generation, that is, they have a genetic relationship. Family history in these diseases can increase the risk for you and the doctor can start examining or treatment accordingly. Let’s know about these diseases-

Heart disease

If someone in your family has a heart attack, high blood pressure or coronary artery disease, then you are also more likely to get this disease. Especially if it has happened to a male relative under 55 years of age or to a woman under 65, then it can be genetic.

Diabetes

The biggest risk factor of type-2 diabetes is genetics. If any of the parents have diabetes, then the risk of this disease in children increases manifold.

Also read – 30+ women bones start getting weak, eating these diets will increase bone density

Cancer is genetic

Cancer such as breast cancer, ovarian cancer, colon cancer or prostate cancer is directly related to genetic reasons. Gene mutations like BRCA1 and BRCA2 are considered responsible for this.

High blood pressure

This disease is affected not only by lifestyle, but also genetically. If your parents have high BP, then you should also keep checking it from time to time.

Mental health disorder

Genetic link has also been found in mental illnesses like depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia. It becomes necessary to pay special attention to emotional and mental health when there is a family history.

Alzheimer’s and dementia

These diseases in old age are also often associated with family history. Their possibility increases due to genetic factors.
