A case of an Indian citizen being caught with foreign currency and gold has come to light at Kekakarbhitta check post in Nepal. According to the information, Indian citizen Param Pathak was arrested by Nepal Armed Police Force during investigation. During the search, 20 thousand US dollars and 6 gold bars weighing about 570 grams were recovered from him. After this it was handed over to Nepal Customs Department for further action.

According to sources, Nepal Customs Department has taken Param Pathak on remand for 6 days and the investigation of the case is going on. It is being ascertained by the officials whether the recovered foreign currency and gold were being transported legally or not. The family says that the gold recovered was purchased from India and its valid bills are also present.

The family has also claimed that Param Pathak is mentally unstable. Param Pathak’s father Puneet Pathak is said to be a businessman. He is the owner of a company named ‘Param Enterprises’, which is involved in railway engineering material and construction work. According to the family, the company does business worth crores of rupees.

Nepal Custom Department is investigating the matter

According to the information, Puneet Pathak is currently present in Kakarbhitta and is trying to resolve the matter by talking to Nepal Customs officials. The family has also demanded intervention on humanitarian grounds from Indian authorities and concerned agencies. At present, Nepal Customs Department is conducting a legal investigation into the matter and further action will be decided on the basis of the investigation report.
