8th Pay Commission Latest Update: The stir regarding the 8th Pay Commission is continuously increasing. A series of meetings is going on in different cities. After the meeting in Dehradun on 24th April, the discussion is going to move forward in Delhi also.

During this time, many employee organizations are putting their demands before the Commission. These also include Progressive Teacher Nyay Manch (PSNM). Which represents the teachers of the Central Government. Nyay Manch has also submitted its demands to the Commission. In which, along with many demands, increase in TA and children’s education allowance is also one of them. Let us know about this

Demand raised to increase education allowances

• PSNM has demanded that the child education allowance should be increased from the present Rs 2,812.59 per month to Rs 7,000 per month. So that the employees can easily handle the expenses of children’s education.
• This allowance is available for children’s education till 12th class. The organization wants this to be extended to graduation.
• Apart from this, a demand has also been made to provide digital support allowance of Rs 2,000 every month (like broadband and AI related needs). Who was not in any pay commission till now.

Demand to increase transport allowance

• The employee organization wants the government to take a decision to increase the transport allowance to 12-15 percent of the basic salary. Or it should be fixed at least at Rs 9,000 + DA.
• Currently, this allowance is available at different levels of Rs 1800, Rs 3600 and Rs 7200. There is a demand to increase it.

Suggestion to increase holidays

• The organization has demanded to increase casual leave to 14 days in a year, 30 days earned leave and 20 days medical leave.
• It has also been proposed to increase the limit of earned leave encashment at the time of retirement from 300 days to 400 days.

According to the report, the Babu of Postal Department comes in Level-2 of the pay matrix. Its grade pay is Rs 1900. According to the 7th Pay Commission, Babu’s basic salary has been fixed at Rs 19,900. But in a government job, not only the basic salary is given, but many allowances are also added to it.

These allowances include Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Traveling Allowance (TA) and other departmental allowances. When all these are added, the total in-hand salary of a Babu comes to approximately Rs 37,120 to Rs 39,370. This is the reason why this job remains popular among the youth.

What is fitment factor?

Whenever a new pay commission comes, the most talked about thing is the fitment factor. Fitment factor is a kind of multiplying figure, on the basis of which the new salary is decided. While deciding this, the government looks at how much inflation has increased in the country, what are the needs of the employees and how much expenditure the government can bear. The fitment factor in the 7th Pay Commission was 2.57 times. On this basis, the new salary of the employees was decided. Now it is expected that in the 8th Pay Commission this factor may go up to 2.86.
