India’s largest airline IndiGo, which flies more than 1 crore passengers every month, is going through its worst phase for the last 10-12 days. In the beginning of December suddenly 400-600 flights started getting canceled every day. There was uproar at big airports like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Indore. People stood in queues for hours, ticket prices doubled and tripled and anger erupted on social media. The question in everyone’s mind is what is happening with Indigo?

Government has taken 7 major actions so far in Indigo case

On 4 December 2025, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu held a major review meeting. This included senior management of MoCA, DGCA, AAI and Indigo. The minister said that passenger facilities should be taken full care of and the situation should be brought back to normal immediately.

Understanding the operational problems of IndiGo, DGCA gave a one-time relaxation, which will provide flexibility in some FDTL rules till 10 February 2026. DGCA will review this exemption every 15 days and will take continuous improvement reports from IndiGo. Especially on crew shortage and hiring.

DGCA has appealed to all pilot associations to extend full support to IndiGo in view of the huge demand during winter vacation and wedding season.

DGCA gave further relief to IndiGo by allowing pilots who were currently engaged in training or other work to be sent for flying duty. Currently, 12 FOIs (DGCA officers who are themselves on deputation from IndiGo) have also been allowed to fly for a week.

12 licensed FOIs of IndiGo, who have less seniority, have been relieved from flying duty by DGCA. So that they can help in the investigation and inspection of DGCA.

DGCA has also deployed its team in IndiGo’s control center, which is monitoring the flights in real time. Especially on delays, cancellations and passenger convenience.

DGCA has formed a four-member inquiry committee, which will find out why such a major operational lapse took place in IndiGo. The committee will also decide who had what responsibility and how effective the measures for further improvement are.

There was a mess due to the new rules of the government
The new pilot duty rules (FDTL Phase-2) of the Central Government came into force and IndiGo was not at all prepared for it. The Pilot Union filed a petition in the Delhi High Court in January 2024. In this, the issue of flight safety was raised due to excessive working hours and fatigue of pilots. After the order of the High Court, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) made changes in the Flight Duty Time Limitation i.e. FDTL rules. These rules were to be implemented in two parts.

On July 1, 2025, Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) rules were implemented to give rest to the pilots. Under this, it was made mandatory for airline companies to give pilots 48 hours of rest instead of 36 hours a week, i.e. two days weekly rest. During this period, there was a ban on counting any holiday as weekly rest. The objective was very good that the less tired the pilot is, the safer the flight will be. But these rules reduced the availability of pilots by 15-20%.

In the second phase of FDTL, from November 1, DGCA had also banned continuous night shifts of pilots and other crew members.

Earlier, rest was available for 36 hours in a week, now 48 hours is mandatory. This means each pilot can fly about one day less in a week.

Night duty was earlier considered to be from 12 noon to 5 am, now till 6 am. That means one more hour more.

A pilot can do only 2 night landings in a week, earlier there was a relaxation of up to 6.

Night duty cannot be done for more than two consecutive nights.

The most dangerous rule was that if the flight went on for even 1 minute after 12 o’clock in the night, then the entire duty was considered as night duty and the pilot would not be able to fly 1-2 flights in the morning the next day.

This meant only one thing: a pilot is no longer able to fly as many flights as he could before.

1700 flights canceled in last 4 days
In the DGCA meeting, IndiGo itself admitted that it had miscalculated the actual need of pilots. Made a mistake in assuming that crew availability will reduce after the implementation of the new rules. There were delays and shortcomings in making the roster and preparations for Phase-2 were incomplete. After the introduction of new rules, Indigo could not overcome the shortage of pilots and other staff and in the last 4 days Indigo canceled more than 1700 flights.

Maximum 225 flights have been canceled in Delhi. 32 flights were canceled in Pune. 197 flights were canceled at Hyderabad Airport in 3 days, while 155 flights were canceled at Shamshabad Airport. Bengaluru: 102 flights have been cancelled.

The new rules have the biggest impact on Indigo.

The entire business model of IndiGo is based on more flights, lower prices and faster turnout. More than 70% of its flights operate at night or till late night. There are frequent flights on short routes. When the new rules came, there was a sudden shortage of pilots.

The biggest mistake was that despite getting 18-20 months time, IndiGo did not increase the number of pilots as per the new rules. Rest of the airlines like Air India, Vistara and Akasa Air had already recruited pilots. Indigo could not manage this change.

As a result, hundreds of flights were canceled every day from the last week of November to the first week of December. Thousands of passengers remained stranded at the airport hungry and thirsty for 24 hours. Flight fares have skyrocketed. The company’s shares fell by 10-12% in the stock market.

The government found a middle solution
DGCA had to bow down due to severe problems of passengers and fear of collapse of the entire aviation system. Giving immediate relief on 5 December 2025, it was announced that now if the flight leaves even a little after 12 midnight, it will not be considered as full night duty. This means that the pilot will be able to fly the morning flight the next day comfortably. The decision of not giving any leave in lieu of weekly rest was withdrawn. The Civil Aviation Minister has directed all the airlines to give full refund in case of flight cancellation. Also, the stranded people have been asked to make proper arrangements to stay in hotels.

But this exemption was not given for free. DGCA has kept strict vigil on Indigo-

Every 15 days, a complete report will have to be given as to how many pilots were increased and how the roster was corrected.

Within 30 days, a complete roadmap will have to be given as to how the new rules will be followed 100% by 10 February 2026.

There will not be even an inch of relaxation in all other safety related rules.

Then what will happen next?
Indigo has apologized and said that most of the flights will become normal by 10-15 December and everything will be completely fine by January. The company is now rapidly hiring pilots and changing the rostering system. But this whole matter has given a big lesson that aviation in India is growing so fast that only one company has more than 60% of the market. If it falters, the entire aviation system falters. Now the government and other airlines have also understood that thousands of new pilots and hundreds of new aircraft are needed in the next 5 years, otherwise such crises will occur again and again.

The Department of Telecommunications (DOT) has ordered all the mobile companies that now every new smartphone will come in the market only with Sanchar Saathi app pre-installed. That is, as soon as the customer turns on the phone, the app will appear and will be usable immediately. After a new order of the government, every smartphone sold in India will come with a special application. The name of this security app is Sanchar Saathi app.

Meaning, buy a phone from the shop, come home, turn on the phone – and you will find the government’s security app ready in front of you. The government says that now people do not need any expert to avoid fraud, rather the mobile itself will tell how safe it is.

Why was this rule implemented?

This rule will be applicable because such steps have been taken by the government regarding protection from phone theft, cloned IMEI, black business of second hand market, fraudulent numbers and cyber criminals.

Thousands of people in the country were getting trapped in mobile fraud. Now to check cyber criminals, use of fake IMEI and incidents of phone theft will be curbed. For this reason also the government has made this app mandatory in phones.

Sanchar Sathi app will now be beneficial for the public like a bodyguard. This app will immediately detect real and fake phones. It will be immediately revealed whether the IMEI number is cloned or not. Lost or stolen phone will be blocked in one click. The system will catch the blacklisted phone immediately. Apart from this, there will be a complete account of how many mobile phones are running in your name. Complaint against any fraud number will also be registered directly. This means that now while buying a second hand phone, instead of the battery and camera, the security will also be checked. Also, before purchasing the phone, its complete criminal background will also be checked.

Apart from this, it has been made clear by the government that if the company removes, hides or reduces the features of these apps, then action will be taken immediately. The government has clearly warned mobile companies that apps cannot be hidden in the phone. It cannot be removed. Features cannot be turned off or limited. This should be clearly visible on phone setup. The app must remain open for 100% use.

Government’s eye on old stock also

Actually, the government is also keeping an eye on the phones lying in the shops. These include those phones which are already made. Kept in the warehouse. Ready to be sold in shops.

The government has said that on those too, companies will have to try to send communication partners through software updates. It means clearly that this rule will apply not only to new phones but to almost every phone.

given 90 days time

The government has given 90 days time to mobile companies. The entire system will have to be implemented within these. Then the report will have to be sent to the government within 120 days. It has to be shared that the company has accepted the rules, and the app has been installed in every phone. The government seems serious on this issue.

Black marketing and stolen phones will be controlled

This rule will weaken the business of stolen phones. Phones with fake IMEI will be easily caught. Transparency will increase in the second hand market. This will help in stopping cyber fraud. Consumers will be able to check their phones themselves. Meaning this app is capable of opening all the secrets.

Source link

Late night of 26th October i.e. Sunday, a flight from America landed at Delhi Airport. But there were no common passengers in this, rather they were 35 Indians, who had entered America without passport and visa. America deported all 54 Indians back to India. Actually, all these people had entered America through the donkey route. The name Donkey Route may sound funny, but on its way one finds not only forests and deserts but also dead bodies and human skulls.

So let us understand in ABP Explainer what is the deadly Donkey Route, how Indians enter America without passport and visa and why Indians are forced to do so…

Question 1- What is the matter of sending 35 Indians back to India from America?
answer- Karnal DSP Sandeep Kumar told ANI that 35 Indians tried to enter the US illegally, who were deported back to India by the US. Of these, there are 54 people including 16 from Karnal, 14 from Kaithal and 5 from Kurukshetra. After the completion of the deportation process, all the people were reunited with their families.

Sandeep Kumar told that this group had used the donkey route, which is used for human trafficking from India to America. This is an illegal and dangerous path. People from many villages and towns enter America using the Donkey Route, but nothing results.

Question 2- What is this donkey route?
answer- The word ‘Dinky Route’ is derived from the Punjabi word ‘Dunki’ i.e. DUNKI, which means to go from one place to another. When people want to go to America to earn money but due to lack of passport and visa, they adopt the donkey route. People reach America illegally after traveling through dense forests, icy rivers and scorching deserts for months. Every year thousands of Indians spend lakhs of rupees and adopt this illegal method to go to America. In popular term it is called ‘Dinky Root’.

The distance from India to America is about 13,500 kilometers. It takes 17 to 20 hours to reach America by air. However, through the ‘Dinky Route’ the distance reaches 15,000 kilometers and this journey takes months. Those traveling on this journey are generally called ‘dinky’.

Question 3- How many routes are there to reach America via Donkey Route and how difficult are they?
answer- There are 2 ways to reach America through the Donkey Route…

First way: Reaching America from Canada in deadly cold of -40 degrees

First of all, Dinky has to apply for tourist visa for Canada, so that he can easily reach Canada from India. On reaching Toronto, Canada, Donkey has to stay in a hotel for several days waiting for the agent’s call.

The agent takes Donkey to Manitoba Province, 2,100 kilometers away from Toronto. The cold in Manitoba is so severe that tears from the eyes freeze on the eyelids.

The donkey is transported to Emerson village, 1,834 km away from Manitoba. This village is on the Canada and America border. From here, Donkey reaches America on foot in the deadly cold of -40 degrees. On this route, there is knee-deep snow and no human being is visible far and wide. Donkey reaches the 49th parallel border.

On January 18, 2022, a family from Gujarat tried to reach America via the Donkey Route via Canada. This included 39-year-old Jagdish Patel, his 37-year-old wife Vaishali, 11-year-old daughter Vihangi and 3-year-old son Dharmik, but the entire family died of cold before reaching America. Police found the bodies of all four people just 12 meters away from the American border.

It takes about 30 days to reach America through this route, but due to it being icy and deadly, donkeys rarely choose this route.

Second way: crossing dense forests and deserts to reach America

The most common route in India, the Donkey Route, reaches America via South America, but on this route one has to cross dense forests, mountains, rivers and deserts. It has three stages…

First stop: reaching Latin American country from India

This includes countries like Ecuador, Bolivia and Guyana. Indians get visa on arrival in these countries. This means that there is no need to obtain a visa in advance to visit these countries.
Tourist visas are easily given to Indians in some other countries including Brazil and Venezuela. From here Donkey reaches Colombia.

Donkey Route depends on how many connections the agent through whom you are going has in the respective countries. Although it is not difficult to reach Latin American countries, it still takes 10 months to reach here.

Many people go to Latin American countries via Dubai. In this they have to live in containers for months.

Second stop: reaching the US border from Latin American countries

After reaching Colombia, Dinky enters Panama. There is a dangerous forest ‘Darien Gap’ between these two countries, crossing which is extremely risky. There is always a fear of poisonous insects and snakes in the rivers and streams. In this forest, looting is done by donkey. Be it men or women, the criminals here even rape them.

Many times, if the donkey sleeps for a while, the snake bites him. Finding dead bodies of donkeys in this forest is not a new thing. There is no government here. If luck favors you and everything goes well, then the donkey crosses the jungle of Panama by walking 105 km in 10 to 15 days.

If a donkey does not want to go through the Panama jungle, he has to cross a 150 kilometer long river from Colombia. From here Donkey takes a boat to Nicaragua, a country in Central America. After traveling by boat, we transfer to another boat, which goes to Mexico. Not only does the border police patrol this river, dangerous animals in the river are also ready to kill.

After this Donkey reaches Guatemala. Guatemala is a big coordination center for human trafficking. Moving towards the American border, Donkey is handed over to another agent.

Finding dead bodies of donkeys in this forest is not a new thing.

Third stop: Crossing the border from Mexico and entering the US directly.

Now Donkey has to go from Mexico to the US border. There are different types of problems on the way. Along with winter, there is also desert in between. After this, Donkey reaches the US-Mexico border, where a 3,140 km long wall is built.

Donkeys jump over this and enter America. Those who cannot cross the wall choose the dangerous route of crossing the Rio Grande River. According to CNN report, from 2014 to 2023, 650 immigrants died while crossing the Mexican border.

According to CNN report, from 2014 to 2023, 650 immigrants died while crossing the Mexican border.

Before going to America, Dinky’s passport and identity documents are taken away. If he is identified, he will be deported back to India.

Question 4- How much does it cost to go to America via Donkey Route?
answer- The average cost of a donkey reaching America from India is Rs 20 to 50 lakh. Sometimes this expenditure reaches up to Rs 70 lakh. Its payment is done in three installments…

On leaving India

Upon reaching Colombia border

Upon reaching the American border

If the money is not paid, gangs of agents get rid of Dinky by killing him in Mexico or Panama.

Question 5- Why do Indians go to America despite so many troubles?
answer- Indian people intend to go out of India for better opportunities, but many people are not able to go legally due to lack of education or any other reason. Foreign affairs expert and JNU professor Rajan Kumar says that Indian people are given the false dream of becoming rich that they will be successful by going to America…

After entering America, Dinky deliberately hands himself over to the police there. After this he is put in jail, which is called ‘Immigration Camp’.

A lawyer is hired to get Dinky out of jail. Its expenses are borne by the agent or a relative of the donkey. The lawyer convinces the court with his arguments that Dinky should be allowed to live in America. After this Dinky is released from jail.

Donkey does not become a burden on America, so he is allowed to earn and eat, which keeps increasing. After 8-10 years, he gets a green card, which means that Donkey can now live permanently in the US and has the right to work. After 10-15 years, he also gets American citizenship.

Just as in India, a scheme is launched every 5 to 7 years to legalize illegal colonies. Similarly, in America, a scheme is launched to give citizenship to illegal people. After paying some fees, Donkey becomes an American citizen.

Pro. According to Rajan Kumar, Indian people risk their lives to reach America through the Donkey Route, but after waiting for years in the detention center, they get heard in the court. Even if he wins the case, he has to do work like washing utensils and sweeping floors for 105 days, so that he can earn his living. It is not so easy to become rich by going to America. Even after 8-10 years, the chances of getting a green card are not high. In such cases, the criminals are sent back to India or have to spend their entire life in jail.

According to the September 2022 report of the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), Haryana has the highest unemployment rate in India at 37.3%. This is 4 times more than the average unemployment rate of the country. Villages like Dharath, Morkhi and Kalwa of Haryana have become dinky hubs. People are making arrangements to go to America for employment by selling their farms, houses and gold.

The news of death of 25 children in India due to drinking cough syrup has shaken everyone. People are shocked by the loss of lives of innocent children and questions are being raised that how safe are these cough syrups? Now the World Health Organization (WHO) has also come into action in this matter. WHO has asked the Indian government whether the cough syrup which caused the death of children has been sent to other countries also? Let us tell you that in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, many children have died after drinking cough syrup named Coldrif.

This thing was found in syrup

Investigation revealed that the quantity of two chemicals named Diethylene Glycol (DG) and Ethylene Glycol (EG) in this syrup was more than required. Both these chemicals proved to be extremely dangerous for children. In Madhya Pradesh, 22 children lost their lives due to this syrup, while the condition of 5 children is critical. At the same time, there is news of death of three children due to this syrup in different districts of Rajasthan. These incidents have attracted the attention of not only the local administration but also international organizations.

WHO asked this question

WHO has also come into action in this matter. WHO officials have asked the Indian government whether these dangerous syrups have been exported to foreign countries also? If this happens, WHO will consider issuing a Global Medical Products Alert. Let us tell you that such an alert is issued when such a defect is found in any medicine or product, which can become a threat to people’s health. If these syrups have been exported to other countries, then WHO can soon issue an advisory, so that such accidents can be prevented in other countries also.

This incident raised many questions

In India, this case has raised questions on the pharmaceutical industry and regulatory bodies. The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has given strict instructions to all the states and union territories. DCGI issued a letter saying that before launching any medicine in the market, it should be thoroughly tested. Deficiency has been found at some places, regarding which DCGI has expressed displeasure. He has ordered all the pharmaceutical companies to strictly test every batch and only then send it to the market for sale.

Situation is worst in Chhindwara

In this case, maximum deaths have occurred in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh. The local administration here has also taken strict steps. The owner of the pharmaceutical company manufacturing this syrup has been arrested. Investigation has also revealed that chemicals like DG and EG present in the syrup proved to be poisonous for children. These chemicals are not common ingredients used in cough syrup and their excessive quantity can be fatal.

Gaurav bhatia on cji’s statement: Chief Justice of India (CJI) B.K. R. Gawai recently said during an event held at Mauritius that the Indian judicial system is not operated by the rule of bulldozers, but from the rule of law.

BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia supported this statement saying that India’s democracy is strong and the judiciary has strengthened further in the last 11 years with the government’s cooperation. Apart from this, he also targeted Rahul Gandhi.

Gaurav Bhatia said this

Gaurav Bhatia said, ‘India’s judiciary has strengthened with foresight with the cooperation of the government in the last 11 years. He said that India runs under the Constitution and Law. The faith of the Chief Justice is in the constitution and the faith of Indian citizens is also in the constitution. It is also true that India is a country where democracy is strong. He dismissed Rahul Gandhi’s statement that it was said that India’s democracy is over, and said that it is beyond the truth.

Bhatia further said that India will always run under the Constitution and Law. The government also has a commitment to the Constitution. The judicial system and our Chief Justice are also respected. Their faith is in the constitution and the faith of citizens is also in the Constitution.

Not a bulldozer, India will run with constitution

CJI B. R. Gawai had earlier said in the ‘Rule of Law Memorial Lecture’ in Mauritius that without hearing and legal process, the house of someone from bulldozers is against the rules of law. He clarified, “India runs not from the rule of bulldozers, but from the rule of law.”

The Chief Justice, citing Mahatma Gandhi, said that before taking any decision, it should be thought that what will be the effect on the poorest and last person of the society. Giving the example of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, he said that the Constitution has made rules and procedures in such a way that there is no misuse of power and every human should get justice. CJI B. R. Gawai said that the Supreme Court of India has always been strengthening the “rule of law” and he also mentioned many historical decisions for this.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned the BJP worker from Karnataka, who has filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court claiming Rahul Gandhi being a British citizen. Official sources gave this information on Saturday (September 6, 2025).

Identification of BJP worker S. Vignesh is in the form of Shishir. He has been asked to appear before the Central Investigation Agency on 9 September. ED sources said that Shishir has been asked to appear with all the evidence and documents related to the case under the provisions of the Currency Management Act (FEMA). He informed that these allegations are being investigated.

Congress did not react
Under FEMA, ED examines complaints related to violations of foreign exchange laws regarding individuals and companies. When a response was sought from the Congress party on the matter, he refused to comment.

In the PIL filed in the Allahabad High Court, Shishir claimed that he has some documents and e-mails of the British government, which proves that the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Gandhi is a UK citizen and is disqualified to contest elections in India for this reason. On August 30, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court ordered the Central Government to provide 24 -hour security to Shishir.

This case is considering- Allahabad High Court

Justice Sangeeta Chandra and Justice B.K. R. Singh’s bench passed this order on a writ petition filed by the BJP worker. In its interim order, the bench said, “We are satisfied at first sight that the matter is considering because the petitioner has filed a case against a highly influential person and is constantly facing threats and in compliance with the notice, he has to appear before the investigating officer at Kotwali police station in Rae Bareli district.”

Government of India wrote a letter to the UK government

Shishir had told the High Court that the CBI was investigating on the basis of his complaint made in June 2024. He also claimed that he has appeared before the agency in Delhi several times and has also given evidence related to Rahul Gandhi’s alleged British citizenship. The High Court has fixed the next hearing of the case for October 9.

During the last hearing of the case, the Central Government had told the court that the Government of India has written a letter to the UK government to provide details related to British citizenship of Rahul Gandhi.

Before Diwali, the government has announced a change in GST rates, giving great relief. The new rates will be implemented from September 22 and people will have to pay low prices from soap-shampoo to milk curd and AC-TV to cars. Next week Apple is going to launch its iPhone 17 series. In such a situation, some people may feel that they will not have to put much emphasis on their pockets to buy a new iPhone. Let us know if this is really going to happen.

IPhone prices will not be affected

The official prices of Apple iPhone 17 Series have not been announced yet. According to some reports, the initial price of this series in India can be Rs 84,499. Changes in GST rates will not affect these prices. The reason for this is that smartphones are in the 18 percent tax slab. Earlier, 18 percent GST used to be levied on them and still have to pay the same tax. There has been no change in the GST on the smartphone. In such a situation, customers will have to pay the same tax as earlier for the iPhone as well as all the smartphones. Because of this, mobile prices have not been cut like smart TV and AC.

Demand was made from the government

The India Cellular and Electronics Association (Icea) had demanded the government to bring the smartphone into a 5 percent slab. He said that the phones have now become a need and Digital India has an important tool. Before the arrival of GST, most of the states used to keep mobile phones in the category of essential goods. At present, the government has not accepted this demand. Let us know that at the beginning of GST, there was a 12 percent tax on the smartphone, which was increased to 18 percent in 2020.

The government has made huge changes in the rates of GST. Due to this, the price ranging from household use to electronics items is going to be a huge decrease. The new rates will be applicable from September 22 and people will be able to take advantage of the low prices while shopping for Diwali. This decision has reduced the prices of smart TV, AC and dishwasher etc. There is also a question in the minds of many people that now the smartphones of other companies including Apple and Samsung will be cheap? Let’s know the answer to this question.

Will smartphone prices decrease?

People looking for smartphones being cheap will be some timely disappointment. The latest decision of the government has not affected the prices of mobile phones. Earlier, 18 percent GST used to be on the smartphone and it will still continue. Due to this, the prices of smartphones will not be reduced at the moment. However, it was already being speculated that customers are not going to get any relief on smartphone prices.

Why didn’t the smartphones become cheap?

According to media reports, sources associated with the industry already expected that the price of the smartphone would not be reduced. He says that if there was any discussion about 12 percent slab, there would have been a little hope, but now the bottom slab is 5 percent from 18 percent. In such a situation, it was difficult to bring the smartphone into this slab. However, the India Cellular and Electronics Association had demanded the government to keep the smartphone in a 5 percent slab. He said that the phones have now become a need and Digital India has an important tool. Before the arrival of GST, most of the states used to keep mobile phones in the category of essential goods. Let us know that at the beginning of GST, there was a 12 percent tax on the smartphone, which was increased to 18 percent in 2020.
